Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Wednesday, January 6, 2010
January 6, 2010 by Kath Skerry
Did the holidays knock the wind out of you guys? Where are all my peeps at? Things are a bit too quiet around here these days. TV is coming back in a big way and we need to be talking about it. The comments are there for a reason my friends. Ha!
There’s plenty to talk about tonight as ABC is bringing the funny back in a big way. Their Wednesday night comedy line-up is back and a new show, Ugly Betty, is joining in on the fun. NBC is back with new eps of their Wednesday night shows, and CBS has some specials for us to check out.
Don’t forget to check out Neil Patrick Harris on Jimmy Kimmel Live tonight!
Check out some of the highlights of tonight’s TV schedule below and leave a comment to let me know what YOU are watching. Are you on Twitter? Let me know by messaging me @gmmrtv

Veronica counsels a patient who’s questioning his faith. She also concludes that Mike is forging ahead and plunging into the dating pool. Elsewhere, Sonia cares for a young accident victim, ultimately digging up a life-changing secret about the patient. [GMMR: I don’t watch Mercy, but with the news of James van der Beek joining the case, I might just have to turn in.]
The Middle | 8 & 8:30pm on ABC
@8pm: “The Jeans”: Sue wants a trendy pair of jeans to impress her classmates; Axl wants a car to impress a girl; and Brick wants to prove his responsibility by taking care of Aunt Ginny and Aunt Edie’s dog, Doris.
@8:30pm: “The Neighbor”: The Hecks have a confrontation with neighbor Rita Glossner (Brooke Shields) and her sons. Meanwhile, Brick and Axl learn a lesson about bribery.
Modern Family | 9pm on ABC
“Up All Night”
Gloria is unnerved by the arrival of Javier (Benjamin Bratt), her ex and Manny’s notoriously untrustworthy father; Claire takes action when Phil suffers from kidney stones; Mitchell and Cameron try to sleep-train Lily. [GMMR: The arrival of Gloria’s ex-husband can only mean lots and lots of little Manny tonight. Yes!]
The People’s Choice Awards | 9pm on CBS
Queen Latifah hosts a ceremony honoring favorites in the fields of music, movies and TV, based on results of a viewer poll; Mary J. Blige, Cobra Starship and Nicole Scherzinger are scheduled to perform at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles.
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit | 9pm on NBC
“Quickie”
A murder case puts detectives on the trail of a womanizer infected with HIV who is knowingly spreading the disease. Peter Butler: Brian Geraghty. [GMMR: Which famous actress will be joining SVU for a mult-episode arc? Find out here.]
(More of tonight’s lineup after the jump)
Cougar Town | 9:30pm on ABC
“Rhino Skin”
Jules and Ellie grow thick skin for their appointments with a callous dermatologist (Lisa Kudrow), but Jules is surprised to find out they have similar taste in men. Meanwhile, Travis starts working for Barbara. [GMMR: A Friends reunion? I always thought Aniston would be the first guest heading over to Cougar Town. The jokes almost write themselves.]

“The Passion of the Betty”
Betty surprises Matt with a gallery exhibit of his art when she feels they’re in danger of becoming inseparable; Marc is haunted by a Bahamas fling; Hilda ponders telling Bobby about her pregnancy. Nip/Tuck | 10pm on FX | Season Premiere
“Dan Daly”
When Sean and Christian win an award from their alma mater, Sean recalls their college years; a new patient who self-mutilates comes to McNamara/Troy for reconstructive surgery. [GMMR: Tonight is the season premiere of the final season of the show. Are you going to miss it?]

I guess I am watching the PCA just to catch a maybe glimpse of any TVD peeps or maybe a Winchester or two. I am sure it will be a total waste of time but oh well.
I’ll take a break for Cougar Town. I am late to the party for it but it’s funny.
Nip/Tuck really? No I will not miss it. It was great in its first few seasons, but I stopped watching after they moved to LA. It just got repetitive and over the top, if it was even possible for it to be MORE over the top.
Basically recording all of ABC’s lineup to watch the PCA. May also watch I Get That A Lot beforehand. It’s generally good for some laughs.
