SMALLVILLE: Absolute Justice - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

SMALLVILLE: Absolute Justice

What’s up Smallville fans?! Was the Smallville two hour movie everything you expected? Written by Geoff Johns, Absolute Justice really brought an interesting storyline meshing the old JSA with, hopefully, a new one. Talk about superheroes a plenty! Hawkeye, Dr. Fate, The Sandman, Star Girl, The Star Spangle kid and John Jones all made appearances.

I don’t know about you but some of my favorite parts of Absolute Justice was when Clark finds out a little about his fate, his relationship with Lois and the missing Lex. Although the show’s writers didn’t divulge much about Lex, Dr. Fate seemed to do a good job at avoiding the big question. Of course we know that the ultimate villain has to be out there anyways! They also managed to keep Lois and Clark in the same place so to speak. Episode after episode they continued to stall out their relationship, but now there seems to be no going back since Dr. Fate explains to Lois that her savior needs her and she needs him.

Chloe’s long running cold spell seems to be coming to a close. Star Girl was right on by pointing out that Chloe’s watch tower is a little uninviting. And she’s not the only one that thinks Chloe needs a little reality check. John Jones manages to get through to her, explaining that she’s the only family he has and that like Fate she is only going to go crazy if she doesn’t start living again outside of her cyber world. It was great to see her among all the superheroes as well holding her own as a human that they trust. I think the old Chloe is back and could end up tucking away all that resentment she has for Clark

Another great scene was Clark’s chance to see all the history behind the JSA. The collection of Hawk women and Green Lantern’s paraphernalia was pretty cool. It was a nice touch by Geoff Johns! The fact that CK was repeatedly told that he will soon be larger than life in the Silver Age seemed to make him realize he needs to trust his fellow superheroes and move towards his destiny.

The episode also put a new spin on things, what with Tess meeting up with Agent Waller. The debut of The Icicle as Smallville’s latest villain was exciting especially when he managed to get his hands on Dr. Fate’s helmet. Out for his own dose of revenge the Icicle was hired on by the Agent to take out the JSA, new and old, or so we thought at first. His father, a former member of the League, ends up on life support, leaving Icicle with no other family.

In the end though we find out that Agent Waller set Icicle up with the idea of drawing the Justice Society of America out of hiding before the Apocalypse begins. I can’t help but wonder what else she has up or sleeve, as well as Tess. Zod was absent for this episode but I’m sure he’ll be back next week.

All in all the two hour movie was great and managed to add more on to CK’s plate which will hopefully spin into another season. I can’t imagine how the show runners and the network could bring all of this to a smooth close by season end! I was surprised to see that they didn’t however include the likes of Aqua man or Bart Allen.

Don’t be shy Smallville fans, drop GMMR a line. Tell us what your favorite parts where? Did I miss anything? Until next week!

Johns confirmed on his Twitter that when Waller brings it up, she’s referring to Apokolips, home of the evil New God despot Darksied. Don’t know if they’ll ever do anything with it (and people with no knowledge of the comics likely thought it was just referring to the end of the world in general) but if they actually are setting up a storyline for the 10th season, I say bring it on.
