BONES: The Devil in the Details

Hey, BONES fans! Did you like this episode? It’s our last one till APRIL, so we’ve got to make this one count. I liked it. I wasn’t smiling the whole time like with other episodes, but I was very fascinated by this case and the people involved. Let’s discuss it!
THE CASE:
Booth and Brennan are called to a church where human remains are found. They are badly burned in a way that suggests sacrifice, and the head of the victim sports bone-like devil horns and a tail. This of course sets Booth and Brennan at odds, as religion is one of their few points of disagreement. Brennan is fascinated by the remains, as she has never seen anything like it. Booth on the other hand is anxious to get it out of the church and back to the lab.
Once there, the team determines that the body was burned by standard, run of the mill motor oil. The horns were cosmetically attached, but Brennan identifies that the tail is natural. The victim is Neal Lowry, a schizophrenic patient of Havenhurst sanitarium.
Booth questions Neal’s mother and brother. They reveal that at age 14, Neal was suffering emotionally after the death of his father. He often set things on fire, and it was recommended that his tail be removed, but at that point, he wanted to keep it.
Joshua Malina! Excellent guest star of the week! I will never give up hope that SPORTS NIGHT will somehow come back on the air. In this episode, he is portraying the doctor at the sanitarium, Dr. Copeland. Dr. Copeland introduces Booth, Brennan and Sweets to Neviah, a pretty woman who believes she is the living incarnation of an angel whose body is taken over by God for his will. She has created a painting which depicts a crucifixion, specifically, her killing Neal. The wound on the painting matches the wound on his body.

Joe Jonas to Guest as a Walker on BROTHERS & SISTERS

Comments Off on Joe Jonas to Guest as a Walker on BROTHERS & SISTERS
If there’s someone that knows a little something about being in a close knit family it’s Joe Jonas. But despite the amount of time he spends with Nick and Joe, I’m not sure anything can prepare him to be a Walker. But if the rumors are true that’s just what the middle Jonai will be later this season.
E!’s Kristen Dos Santos has reported that Joe is in talks to play a young Tommy Walker in two upcoming episodes of BROTHER & SISTERS. The eps will flashback to the former years of the Walker family.
While I don’t see any noticeable resemblance to Balthazar Getty, Joe has become quite the eye candy as of late. A new haircut. New glasses. Already the apple of the eye of millions of tweens, it seems that Joe might be ditching his band boy looks in order to be taken more seriously as an actor.
But what about his brothers? Maybe Kevin wants to play Kevin Walker. The same curly hair and no one would confuse their names. That leaves Nick as the sexy younger Justin Walker. Both Nick and Justin are doing what they can to set themselves apart from their big brothers. Oh and don’t forget Frankie – the bonus Jonas. Um, hello Ryan. (I know, I always forget about the Walker half brother too.)

Gearing Up for ‘Two Idiots Talk LOST’

If you’re anything like me, you might be feeling excited, but a bit lost about LOST. For weeks now I’ve been saying that I need to go back and watch the last few episodes of S5 because as of this moment the only thing I remember with any certainty was Juliet falling down that damn hole.
I’m not what you would call an “involved” LOST viewer. I like to watch the ep for what it is and then maybe peruse sites like Lostopedia to find out the nuggets I missed by just watching. All the credit in the world to LOST fan sites whose dedicated bloggers and fans break down each element of each episode to find the hidden meaning and how it fits into the larger enigma that is LOST. That’s not going to be happening on this site. You’re lucky if I remember who was a Lostie or an Other.
I think there are more LOST fans like me out there than you’d think. I’m talking about the people that love the show, and are genuinely intrigued by things like the four-toed statue, why Locke could walk after the crash, what those numbers really mean, and why Walt has been spotted kickin’ it on the island; but who ultimately are just too lazy to come up with realistic theories or to go investigate what others have already discovered. Fans who don’t know that the character Daniel Faraday might have been named after Michael Faraday, an English physicist who studied electromagnetism, are my kind of people. [Um, did you also not know that Daniel and Penny have the same father? Yeah, I somehow missed that along the way too. Oh God, I’m screwed tonight.]

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: The Perfect Week
February 2, 2010 by Kath Skerry

How I hope there is someone out there named Cook Poo. How fun would it be to have a whole storyline on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER just for you?! I’m not sure it would go very far in making up for the fact that your name is Cook Poo, but it’s something.
Our gang was having a lousy week. Cook Poo left Ted’s class after he made fun of her name. Robin didn’t get a call back from a guy she was secretly hoping to reject. Lily and Marshall failed yet again to find a new couple to hang with after they revealed they share a toothbrush (ew!). And Barney slept with seven different girls in seven different days. Oh wait, that’s not a lousy week, that’s a Perfect Week! (Ok not for the rest of them, but who cares – GO BARNEY!)
24 – Day 8: 9:00pm – 10:00pm

All events really did occur in real time this week as I finally figured out what is making this season stand out for me, even though not much happened tonight. Let’s get started.
Debrief
- Renee had to sleep with Vlad, who raped her at least once before. Jack is trying to get her taken out of the operation because she’s FREAKING NUTS! Hastings won’t go for it unless she’s truly compromises the operation. Jack officially begins his cover as the nuclear buyer. After the initial funds were transferred, Vlad tried to kill him, but Cole sniped them and the deal continues.
- Dana got her ex and his buddy information about a confiscated transit station locker that has drug money in it. She gives them the way in and will then talk them through getting the money and leaving. Arlo is suspicious, but no one will listen to him because…well…he’s Arlo.
- President Hassan continues his paranoid rampage on the opposition in his home country. He learns that one of the men his police arrested is cousins with one of his advisors. That advisor is being arrested. The peace talks are beginning to fall apart.
- The doctor was about to give Josef all the tools he needed to help cure his brother, but he was killed by Sergei. The brothers were taken back to the restaurant where Sergei killed his own, poisoned son.
Agent Philboy’s Assessment
Having recently joined the ranks of the unemployed, I’ve been catching up on some reviews of this season. Most of what I’ve read has been negative, and there is a sentiment that this season has been scattered and a tad too unbelievable. While I see what others are saying, I feel like I have to defend the season a bit because even with all of its faults its adding in a few new ingredients to the “24” recipe, all of which are satisfying my tastebuds.
This season hasn’t had the the action of previous seasons. Usually at this point in the ‘day’ we’ve had a nuclear explosion or two, or at the very least a major characters had died. Maybe we’re not getting that, but what we are getting is a deeper look at the characters. So instead of complaining because there hasn’t been a huge body count or enough explosions, look at it through a different lens. You’ll see an interesting, if flawed, tale of people consumed by fear and paranoia, being pushed to the brink and reacting in wildly different ways.
Hassan’s increasing paranoia might bring him to President Logan levels. The peace talks have been under utilized, but I think are an excellent driving motivation for Taylor to try as hard as she can to resolve this conflict. I’ve missed the involvement of the White House in CTU goings on. I know that this adventure is going to take about 15 different turns in the next 17 episodes, so we will eventually get to that point, but I’m ready for Washington to get its hands dirty. Plus, I know I’ve mentioned it before, but Renee being completely unhinged is fascinating to watch and is really the saving grace so far this season.
Still, there are some things that aren’t just working this season: Arlo! Dana! Hastings! Some elements are there to buy time, and I understand that, but if they want me to stay in the moment during the course of an episode, they shouldn’t have the action take place in a workplace where Dana is allowed to come and go whenever she pleases; Hastings has absolutely no one to answer and Arlo is free to make 14 suggestive, innuendo-filled comments before the commercial break.
What I Learned this Week
- To go undercover as a German arms dealer, you don’t really need an accent.
- As long as you say you’re from the right country, you can wear the DUMBEST LOOKING GLASSES EVER.
- On a related note, I want a pair of those glasses. Jack Bauer has the power to make the uncool cool.
- Apparently, an ailment that needs a team of surgeons and a bone marrow transplant can be cured with some drugs.
This Week’s Kill Count = 6 Total Kill Count = 16
Have you jumped off the “24” bandwagon or are you still along for the less action-packed ride?

Jimmy Fallon is a GLEEk
February 2, 2010 by Kath Skerry

Jimmy Fallon channels his inner gleek in this parody, nee homage to GLEE. Does Jimmy and his staff have what it takes to make it to Sectionals and win the money needed for cue cards? (More importantly, wouldn’t Jimmy Fallon’s monologues be a bit better if he didn’t rely on cue cards so much?)
Jimmy really brings his Finn Hudson moves while Abby Elliot (who I missed desperately on SNL) is a dead ringer for Emma Pillsbury.
Pink’s Grammy Performance

“It’s official….the age of lip-sync is over. If Pink can sing live, upside down, spinning/flying through the air then there are no excuses.” – Kelly Clarkson
Not only did Pink sing live in the most death defying of performances, but she sounded damn good while doing it. Her performance was much easier to watch on my second viewing. The first time I was bit too nervous that she was going to plummet to the earth die….or at least fall and kill a Jonas brother.
Did you watch the Grammys? What other performances stood out to yo last night?
