Sue Sylvester “Vogue” – GLEE

You know how I loathe when Fox spoils GLEE musical numbers before the episode airs, but since this video is already everywhere we might as well be basking the glory of it here.
Jane Lynch owns Madonna’s “Vogue” in next week’s “Power of Madonna” episode of GLEE. This is brilliant!
Dan and I discussed the first three episodes of GLEE in the latest TV Talk Podcast – GLEE Podcast. We talked about last night’s episode, next week’s all-Madonna episode and a little bit about the third episode of the season, “Home”. We teased but stayed relatively spoiler free. HOUSE: Lockdown

For all the questions that we answer by using our powers of recall, intuition, and Google, the toughest ones to handle are rarely asked. Sheer force of habit tells me how many times to hit the snooze button and whether I want fries with that, but I would be hard pressed to deal with the issues raised by this week’s House. Should a dying man ask for unconditional love from a daughter he abandoned under horrendous conditions? Is it possible for one’s self-worth to peak too soon, then slowly drown while treading back toward normalcy? When is love not enough to sustain a marriage?
Undaunted by the challenge of such delicate material, Hugh Laurie stepped behind the lens to direct this unique story. Breaking from the show’s tried-and-true formula, Laurie drew from his theater experience to present a series of one-act plays. Each story was intimately shot and thoughtfully paced. The result? An hour of television that added chapters to each character’s biography, yet flew by at supersonic speed.
Jennifer Morrison has been missed. Prior to her departure, I believed that Allison Cameron was the strongest female character on the show. As a woman who grew past her idol worship of House in order to gain his professional respect, Cameron was strong, versatile, and intriguing. Standing face-to-face with her estranged husband, however, Morrison peeled away all pretense, and tore up her scenes with Jesse Spencer. At times cold and detached, at others kind and reflective, Cameron was just as she described herself, “a mess.” Though the couple said goodbye via an amorous tryst, I would not describe this as a happy ending. Chase never got the answers he really wanted, but he found reason to let himself off the hook. It is far from the stuff of fairy tales, but it is much closer to reality.

Are you ready to talk about one of the more momentous episodes of 24 in recent memory? Why do shows always shine when they know they’re coming to an end?
- Taylor assures Jack that there was nothing he could have done to save Hassan. Samir is barely alive, however, for questioning. While he is laying there, one of the EMTs injects Samir with something and leaves. Renee seems to recognize him, but thinks nothing of it. Jack and Renee leave, giving Cole full control of the situation. They return to Jack’s apartment to have sex.
- Taylor is on her way to inform the UN delegates that the peace treaty will be dissolved when the prime minister of the IRK stops her with a suggestion. They want Dalia Hassan to take over as President and sign the treaty. She agrees.
- With the changes in the peace treaty situation, Hastings is fired as Head of CTU and Chloe is hired as provisional Director. The world is a little better now.

SMALLVILLE: Checkmate

How’s it going Smallvillers? Back with another weekly recap as the season finale vastly approaches! Did you hear Michael Shanks will be returning as Hawkman for the finale, airing on May 14th, as well as Alaina Huffman who plays the Black Canary, Stargirl and Cyborg! Brian Austin Green will also be reprising his role in a guest stint as Metallo soon enough. Something big is in the works huh?! Now on to Smallville’s Checkmate!
This week’s villain came in the form of Amanda Waller, who we have recently seen a few weeks back played by Pam Grier. Waller is a government agent out to recruit superheroes for her army and Tess is one of them. She’s also a threat to the Justice League!
What I thought was a plot to capture Oliver was really a scheme to nab Chloe, aka Watchtower. Waller apparently needs Chloe’s brainpower for her collection of soldiers and hires on Tess who really has no idea about the real plans or who Watchtower really is. Tess ends up finding out in the end that Oliver is Green Arrow. This isn’t good. First Clark now Olly!

FRINGE: Olivia. In The Lab. With a Revolver.

This episode had me at the title. Who doesn’t love CLUE??!!! OK, maybe not everyone is a board game geek like me, but someone on the FRINGE writing staff must surely be – MONOPOLY references in “Jacksonville” and a Sam Weiss/Olivia Dunham CLUE match tonight – makes me want to revisit all things Parker Brothers! Excitement aside, I thought the title was rather misleading. Coupled with the FOX teaser of “Next on FRINGE, the end brings a new beginning”, I thought for sure that the final scene was going to involve a big showdown in Walter’s lab, involving a gun-wielding Olivia. Not so much. Oops – getting a bit ahead of myself by skipping straight to the end. Better start with all of the other good stuff that happened before that!!
Olivia. In her Living Room. With the Candlestick.
Tonight’s case was a combination of sad, disturbing, and gruesome all at once. One of Olivia’s former Jacksonville daycare classmates, “Neil”, became deathly ill with cancer. While hospitalized, a man had come to visit Neil and told him about the experiments with Cortexiphan. The man led Neil to believe that what had happened to Neil as a child, would help him to fight his cancer. However, after the man left, the cancer became worse until one day, Neil inadvertently transferred it to his own sister who happened to be another one of Walter’s test subjects. Neil transferred his cancer to her by touching her. In exchange, he received positive health benefits from her, which temporarily sustained him.

First of all, show of hands…Who is glad to know that Brennan DIDN’T lie in Soccer Mom in the Mini Van when she said Booth had no direct knowledge? I know I am.
I LOVED this episode and have been DYING to talk about it with you. Even more important than my opinion are your thoughts and feelings (but don’t get me wrong…I’m about to get all opiniony up in your BONESloving grills). My first impression was completely, mind numbingly…stunned, can’t breathe…just…wow. Wow!
Review: PARENTHOOD – The Big ‘O’
April 8, 2010 by Erik Wilkinson

True love, be it romantic or familial, is difficult to demonstrate within the confines of your HDTV. As viewers, we have been conditioned to anticipate big moments, cliffhangers, and provocative twists to keep us engaged with our favorite shows. If Parenthood followed the norm, Max would have already been miraculously cured of his Asperger’s, Joel and Racquel’s flirtation would have led to infidelity, and Jabbar would have been revealed as the love child of Tiger Woods.
Parenthood is a marvelous addition to the TV landscape because of its unwavering commitment to the mundane. I have other outlets on my DVR for feeling whimsical, but I enjoy this program because it simply makes me FEEL. I root for the Bravermans. Their stories are not an escape for me, but a way to face up to feelings about my own family, friends, and not-so-loved ones.
This episode was all about Kristina Braverman, brought to life in a gut-wrenching performance by Monica Potter. Until this week, Kristina’s most memorable contributions were as a reactive mother, handling situations as they popped up. In a powerful change of pace, we saw her crack under the powerful strains of self-doubt and anxiety.

Tears streaming down my face after watching this.
Jimmy Fallon channeled his inner Kate Gosselin in this hilarious parody of her atrocious Paso Doble from last night’s DANCING WITH THE STARS. It’s brilliant and eerily spot on.

Starting Thursday, April 29 and airing through Wednesday, May 5, some of Fox’s biggest primetime shows will be rockin’ it out. BONES, FRINGE, HOUSE, GLEE, THE SIMPSONS, THE CLEVELAND SHOW, FAMILY GUY, THE WANDA SYKES SHOW and AMERICAN IDOL will all feature a variety of musical elements. Then of course there’s GLEE.
If you’re ready to see Booth & Brennan finally share sweet music together; or maybe you want to see the guys of Princeton Plainsboro on the stage doing a little karaoke, then be sure to tune in. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem that FRINGE star Joshua Jackson will be performing “Wild Thing”. (Oh how I miss The Creek).
Episode descriptions of the music-themed episodes are below (spoiler warning)

Well, that was eventful. I love that they planned a two-hour “event” to not only combat the juggernaut that is the NCAA Tournament and its incredible Butler Bulldogs, but also to really get you roped in early and unleash a ton of twists and turns in one concise package. There’s a ton of information and analysis here, so let’s get started.
Debrief (As brief as possible!)
* Hassan gave himself up and went with Tarin. Jack was going to intercept them when Dana told Tarin that he was being followed and led him to a parking garage. After a chase through the garage, Hassan was transferred to a different car while Tarin drove himself off the garage.
* Dana was found out through Tarin’s cell phone. She made a deal for full immunity in exchange for her cooperation in saving Hassan. She led them to the apartment building where they were going to stream Hassan’s confession and death live on the internet.
* As the broadcast started, CTU tried to save Hassan. But, once they found the apartment, he was already dead and they realized that the internet feed had been delayed. There was no way they could have saved him.
* In unrelated news, Rob and Sec. Douchebag were discovered by Jack and arrested. Ethan was rescued and is at the hospital doing fine.
Agent Philboy’s Assessment
I was so excited about this week because I knew, by the laws of “24” time, that so many things had to happen tonight. And, even though I mistakenly thought we were going to see Fmr. President Logan this week, all of my Jack Bauer-related wishes came true. Some might call this predictable, but I would rather call it knowing what you’re good at as a writing staff and executing it with gusto in your final 10, now 8, episodes.
