THE BACHELOR is 0 for 14 as Jake and Vienna’s Love Plane Crashes… Let’s All Stop Lying About What This Show Is
June 22, 2010 by Korbi Ghosh
Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi of THE BACHELOR have broken up.
Such a shock! We know. And we are so, so sad too!
We really thought this was going to be the one couple that would go the distance, especially considering how well-liked Vienna was while on the show, not to mention the fact that those two just always seemed so perfect for each other!
Er, wait… Vienna was the contestant whom everyone despised? The one who almost caused a reality TV riot when she won Jake’s final rose?
Oh, okay, cool, sorry, got confused.
Not that the opposite situation would’ve given the longevity of their relationship any better odds.
I mean, in 14 seasons of THE BACHELOR, not a single couple has stayed together.
Yes, Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney of season 13 were recently married, but Jason gave Melissa Rycroft his final rose if you remember correctly… then dumped her for Molly shortly after filming ended.
So, yes, this latest heartbreaking split has GIVE ME MY REMOTE wondering… is a reality TV dating show not the best place to find your life mate?!
Didn’t work our for season 1’s Alex Michel and Amanda Marsh or season 2’s Aaron Buerge and Helene Eksterowicz or season 3’s Andrew Firestone and Jen Schefft or season 4’s Bob Guiney and Estella Gardinier or season 5’s Jesse Palmer and Jessica Bowlin or season 8’s Travis Stork and Sarah Stone or season 9’s Lorenzo Borghese and Jennifer Wilson or season 10’s Andy Baldwin and Tessa Horst or season 11’s Brad Womack (who didn’t give a final rose to anyone) or season 12’s Matt Grant and Shayne Lamas.
We will give honorable mention shout outs to season 6’s Byron Velvick and Mary Delgado — who did stay together for several years before finally ending their relationship last December — and season 7’s Charlie O’Connell and Sarah Brice — who’ve been dating on and off ever since — though they are currently off.
But add Mesnick and Rycroft, plus Pavelka and Girardi, to this list and THE BACHELOR’s relationship track record is a big old goose egg.
So, I’m sorry, why are the show’s participants still claiming they’re there to find the love of their lives?
Lies!
You’re there to be on TV. You’re there to have a good time! You’re there for the free hot tub and helicopter rides!
And we’re okay with that.
We can all just stop pretending now.

+5 to Korbi.
I saw the final episode of this season, and with that alone I was able to determine that Vienna was one shady lady. So how could I see it in one hour and he couldn’t figure it out over a whole season?
I can’t stand this or its sister show. Oh boo-hoo, you are a doctor, a part time model, own a yacht and a sports car, have a pilot’s license and can’t find love anywhere so you have to submit to a TV dating show? Yeah right, like I’m supposed to believe that.
Well they’re kinda 1 for 14 cause dickwad jason married someone he met off the bachelor. Does that count?
Anyway this break up was shocking to me. Shocking that It took three whole months for it to happen!
I guess I should establish that I’ve never watched a single episode of any incarnation of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, so my opinion may not carry as much weight, but IMO I think we all know why the guys are on the show (Bachelor). I guess we could say the reverse for The Bachelorette but not so sure if the same rules apply (I’m really hoping no explanation is necessary). 🙂
vienna…. vienna… too bad you didn’t get the fish… as for jake, he sucks for taking the bait.
