Comments Off on Rob Lowe, Busy Phillips, Damon Lindelof: TV Tweets of the Past 24 Hours
Every day, GIVE ME MY REMOTE scours the web to find the best TV-related tweets of the past 24 hours, so you can enjoy them all with just one easy click.
Occasionally something newsworthy will slip in here, but you know, not often…
Am I a troublemaker? I don’t know, maybe. You might think so.
Or, perhaps, you could say I’m a peacemaker.
Depends how you look at it.
But the fact is, when I saw Season 6 SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE alum, Legacy, backstage at the show last night, I absolutely had to corner the kid and ask him how he feels about Season 7 finalist Jose Ruiz straight-up telling the judges that he’s a better B-Boy than Legacy.
And it’s not like he didn’t see it coming. All I had to do was mention the auditions and inquire whether or not he’d had the chance to watch and I got an immediate reaction.
“Wooo! I know exactly where you’re goin’, girl!” was his exact response, actually, and you can see it for yourself in the video below.
“You know, [Jose]’s from Florida [as I am] and, you know, I always respect B-Boys. I welcome them. [Season 3 alum] Dom[inic Sandoval] and me, we meet and we talk. It’s a good thing,” he continued. “[But] I don’t know how I really felt deep inside about, you know, [Jose] calling me out in a sense, saying ‘better’ because we don’t do that normally. And if you do, you have a battle. So, you might see a battle.”
Now, whether Legacy wants that battle to be on the street or on the stage, you’ll have to watch the clip to find out.
So peep that below. We’re also talking about what he’s up to right now (which happens to involve season 5 alum Kupono and a two-time Oscar-winner) and if he’d like to return to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE as a possible all-star sometime in the future…
What do you think?
A battle is in order, no?
Between Jose and Legacy, whom do you think is the better B-Boy?
Not gonna lie, I thought Melinda would be cut from SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE this week, and when I spoke with Nigel backstage last night, I told him so.
“Yeah, [that’s] what I would’ve done,” he says in our video interview, which you can see below.
Having been outvoted by his fellow judges, however, that’s not what happened, and he’s okay with it: “You know, I can totally understand Mia and Adam[‘s decision to cut Cristina and keep Melinda]. We discussed it. All three of us went out there thinking we were gonna lose Melinda this week and then I suppose Adam talked them both into [saying], no, let’s lose Cristina.”
So why the change of heart? “[Melinda] did grow [Wednesday] night. Hugely. Her lines were fabulous,” Nigel explains. He also says that, while Melinda was saddled with a jive last week and a contemporary routine this week — both being 180 degrees outside of her genre as a tapper — Cristina was sort of dancing in her own style, performing the Paso Doble with Pasha on Wednesday. So the judges apparently took this all into consideration when grading the two against each other… and I guess Melinda came out on top.
Still, she’s got a lot to worry about.
“It’s tough when you know that, unless Melinda finds something different to connect with the audience next week, it’ll be her turn next week to go,” Nigel says.
Watch the clip for more of his thoughts on that and the performance of Bryan Gaynor and his crew. And, please, see the interview through because Mr. Lythgoe is doing a little robot dancing of his own, clearly inspired by B.G. …and it’s kind of bad a$$.
Comments Off on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Week 2′s eliminee talks backstage with GMMR
Smiling for the camera is not easy less than an hour after one of your life’s biggest dreams comes to an end.
And, sure enough, backstage at SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE this evening (Thursday, June 24), Cristina Santana admitted that she was having a bit of a hard time.
“I want to smile, but I am also sad because I wanted to stay longer,” I overheard her saying to a few reporters just before we spoke.
Still, Cristina put on a brave face and decided to look at the bright side.
“I think I did the best that I could,” she says in the video below. “And I really [will] enjoy this opportunity that I have to be now a [part of the] family of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Going through the auditions and Vegas Week twice, it’s something that I have to put on my mind and tell myself that I did a great job. Because a lot of people wanted to be in my place, and I was on it, I was one of the five girls and I am very happy.”
As you should be, girl.
Watch the clip for more from Cristina on this, as well as her family’s reaction to her elimination, and what she wants to tackle next…
But before Cristina hits the silver screen to star in a salsa flick, she’s going to have to spend a little more one-on-one time with yours truly. Just as I met up with eliminee Alexie Agdeppa for a post-show dance lesson last week, I will now meet up with Cristina to once again make a complete and total fool of myself, so please come back to GMMR this Monday to see that…

After tonight’s elimination, we’re down to single digits. The top 10 will become the top 9 tonight on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. If you listened to our SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE podcast then you know who my choice is to tap her way off the stage tonight (oh, did I let it slip who I wanted gone? I hate when that happens.) But you never know how the votes are going to go down and who the judges will choose to save.
For those of you who can’t be near a TV tonight, or maybe living on the West Coast and just can’t wait to know who was in the bottom three, then stay tuned as I’ll be sharing the highlights from tonight’s episode LIVE! Be the first to know who went home.
Top 10 Group Dance
This routine had Sonya written all over it, and that ain’t a bad thing. Although it started off a bit slow for me, by mid-way through my eyes couldn’t keep up with everything going on in the stage. That number certainly warrants a re-watch.
Not one to dilly-dally, Cat gets right into the results…
DEXTER isn’t afraid to (literally) cut cast members from the show, but it’s not shy about adopting newbies either.
Variety is reporting that Jonny Lee Miller — probably best known as Angelina Jolie’s ex-husband (and the lead in ABC’s ELI STONE) — will join the upcoming fifth season of DEXTER. Word is, he’ll be playing a mysterious man whose path intersects with Julia Stiles’ new character.
In addition to Stiles, Miller joins DEXTER newbies April Lee Hernandez, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and Shawn Hatosy.
You excited to see the our beloved Eli back on TV? Sans brain tumor this time?
Or are you a little concerned about all these new peeps up in the Miami Metro mix?
As fans of FRINGE are already aware, John Noble’s Walter Bishop is one of the most intriguing characters currently on TV.
Noble manages to portray all aspects of Bishop’s personality flawlessly and FOX has put together a video highlight reel showing off some of his — and Walter’s — best moments thus far.
Warning, if you’re not completely caught up on FRINGE, this video will spoil some pretty big things. But if you are all caught up, click away…
Shawn and Gus are going to have a field day with this…
USA Network has confirmed that Vanessa Minnillo — perhaps best known to Us Weekly readers as Nick Lachey’s on-off girlfriend — will appear in an upcoming episode of PSYCH.
Minnillo is set to play Gina Walsh, a member of a group of street racers who can fix anything with wheels.
Yes, we too are imagining the fights our PSYCH boys will have over her.
No word yet on when the episode will air, but a brand new season of PSYCH starts up July 14, 10 p.m. ET/PT, so program your DVR accordingly.
During this week’s Judges’ Table, I could have sworn that Celebrity Apprentice or Survivor had taken over the TOP CHEF time slot. Insults were thrown, fireworks were lit, and we’re only in week two!
Let’s dive in to this week’s episode in three courses, shall we?
APPETIZER: The Biparti-Sandwich Challenge with White House Chef Sam Kass was an ideal warmup for this week’s Elimination Challenge. With an emphasis on health and tasty substitutions, the contestants were broken up into eight teams of two.
The twist, having to work with just one arm each, was a clever piece of production, eliciting humorous moments (such as Tracey’s eagerness to embrace Angelo) and flat out discomfort (“Please don’t cut me!”). By winning his third challenge in three tries, Angelo and partner Tracey gained a huge strategic advantage for the next event.
First Round of Drinks: Is there something about the name Kenny? I could swear that he and a brute named Wes just gave us a primer of the Angelo/Kenny storyline on MTV’s THE RUINS. If you ask me, the Kenny/Angelo alpha male battle seems far more amped up for the cameras than, say, the sibling rivalry of the Voltaggio brothers last season.
BONES fans, it’s been a little over a month since the season finale. How are you all doing?
Feeling a little better about what went down during that last hour?
Well, either way, the good news is that we’ve made it through one month of the hiatus… less than three to go.
In the meantime, bits of BONES news have been leaking out, making the wait just a little more bearable. Show creator Hart Hanson tweeted a (possible) season premiere title and he — along with David Boreanaz — will make the trek to Comic-Con next month. All good news.
And of course, GIVE ME MY REMOTE is here to help as well. We have a bonus video from the 100th episode bash featuring the charming Michael Grant Terry (Wendell), in which we get his thoughts on the end of Wendell/Angela, who Wendell should hook up with next and what he’d like to see happen in season six.

Yesterday was Joss Whedon‘s birthday and some of his famous friends gave him a well-deserved shout out:
If you were a fan of EVERWOOD — the finest television show ever to grace that network-of-yesteryear once known as The WB — you know why I’m so thrilled by Smith’s return to the small screen as a regular on ABC’s ROOKIE BLUE.
He was a kid way back when he played the role of Ephram Brown on the aforementioned EVERWOOD, but even then, he had the power to drive a scene and affect an audience in the most emotional of ways.
I can only hope ROOKIE BLUE gives him material worthy of his talent.
The ABC dramedy, which premieres tonight (Thursday, June 24 at 9 p.m. on ABC), follows a group of young cops, just out of the Academy, who make mistake after mistake as they learn on the job.
Having seen the pilot, I can say, so far, so good.
It’s not Emmy-caliber entertainment just yet, but it’s a solid and fun series that will suck you in.
Think GREY’S ANATOMY with police officers.
And I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that Smith’s co-stars — namely REAPER’s Missy Peregrym — are quite likable too.
So, yes, give ROOKIE BLUE a shot this evening. It very well may turn out to be a highlight of summer programming for you.
Comments Off on ‘TWILIGHT’ Starring the Cast of JERSEY SHORE (Jimmy Kimmel Live)
How dare they! This borders on blasphemy!
Last night Jimmy Kimmel let us in on a little known secret. Taylor Lautner, Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson weren’t the original casting choices for the ‘Twilight’ Saga. If the producers had their way, Snooki, The Situation and Pauley D would have owned the now coveted roles. Check out how it could have gone down.
