BONES Creator Hart Hanson on Season Six’s Big Bad and Booth’s [Spoiler Alert]
July 23, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
It seems like a few of you were kind of excited about the BONES panel at Comic-Con.
Can’t say I blame you. After that finale, I had a million questions myself.
And when I chatted with BONES creator Hart Hanson before Friday’s panel, he answered…some of them.
Kind of.
Hanson spoke with reporters a few months back and he mentioned that viewers would be introduced to someone at the end of season 5 who would be causing some trouble for the team next season. But seemingly, no one appeared. Not in an obvious way, anyway — and now there’s word that there will be a new big bad in year 6.
Silly me, I thought it would be appropriate to ask if maybe we had only heard about the baddie in season 5, but we’d actually meet them in season 6… Seemed like a reasonable question.
I mean, I cannot properly convey Hanson’s reaction to that notion in mere words — His response, “Maybe. Maybe not,” must be seen — so I’d really suggest watching the video below.
It’s hilarious, if I do say so myself.
Plus, what did Hanson tell me about the new girl on BONES? And has he been sending out fake sides to mess with people?
Take a look…

I think I was insulted by Mr. Hanson.
But it’s worth it if got some info, right?
What do you think, was my pain and suffering worth it?

Oh he is just a hoot!!! 😀 I can’t wait to find out who this new bad guy is! Very excited for Season Six!
He’s so unbelievably vague! But after season 4’s ending fiasco and all the crap that he got (I didn’t care a bit, for the record, that the finale wasn’t real), he has DEFINITELY learned from his mistakes. Good or bad from us, I don’t know.
That was so hilarious! I really hope they don’t actually cut off Booth’s legs, because that is something I would hate on the show for! I personally think the whole Booth’s girlfriend concept is an excellent idea!
Why does she kiss a%% like that. She tiptoes round the subject that MOST of the fanbase hates the idea of a girlfriend. So annoyng. When you have him in the hotseat please ask him tough questions…like what he plans to do if this decision actually hurts the show and loses fans?
@mommahurley
Please just speak for yourself. It’s ridiculously presumptive to speak for the majority of 8+ million people and I, for one, welcome the Idea of Booth in a relationship.
This relationship to the others that he was not going nowhere. Now that Bones is going to change it, the man will get ugly. I always knew that somehow the get together, when is the ideal time for the thing rolling again? The good thing is that we know from the outset that the two were meant for each other, those who deny it, never gone through anything like this in real life, or if they like, they can not express in words, only with his eyes (something better than it has in – hide the others, only blind not to see this detail). The Bones is difficult to deal with certain subjects because of her ways, but it is changing now is that things will change and she will fight for what she most wants, Booth, from the beginning and we know that the rejection Her first, was afraid of losing him as a partner in the investigations.
Marisa, you ROCK! I am loving Hart even more after this interview with you.. you really know how to get to the man. Now you’ve got me wanting to go back and re-watch the last of the S5 episodes to see what I missed.
Keep up the great work!
After watching your interview, and watching the last two episodes of season 5, I have an idea of who the new bad guy’ll be. I think its Max and he will start killing off Booth’s new girlfriends. David made a comment about girlfriends plural. It struck me as something that Max would do to protect Brennan, because he knows how she really feels about Booth. He did make a comment that Booth had better not hurt Brennan because he would be watching. Just a thought.
@mommahurley – I’m gonna go with Bruce on this one. Speak for yourself.
Conflict, situational or interpersonal, is where we get the great moments from these characters. A new romantic rival is a great tool to change the relationship and progress the dynamic between them. I personally wouldn’t enjoy the stagnation in the story line if every thing was rosy for these characters.
You know they’re going to get together eventually. Why does it have to be now?
Oh, and thanks for this Marisa! You rock.
I think it will be the Russian guy in the episode “The Predator in the Pool”. He told Booth that he owed him a favor and Booth told him no. If he’s some kind of mobster guy, he could take that personally.
