WEEDS: Season 6 Guest Star Roster Adds Richard Dreyfuss
July 7, 2010 by Korbi Ghosh
Filed under #1 featured, TV News, Weeds
Showtime announced this spring that WEEDS season 6 — set to premiere August 16th — will include former guest stars Alanis Morissette and Jennifer Jason Leigh, plus newcomers Linda Hamilton, Peter Stormare and former Bayside boy Mark-Paul Gosselaar. But this morning, the cable network officially confirmed that Oscar winner Richard Dreyfuss will get in on the action as well.
Dreyfuss is on board for four episodes as of now and will play an “unexpected character” from Nancy Botwin (Mary-Louise Parker)’s past.
In case you’ve forgotten what’s up with the Botwins, allow us to refresh your memory: This season, Nancy and family will be on the run since Shane (Alexander Gould) kinda sorta murdered that Mexican bigwig Pilar with a croquet mallet. The family will pack a few things and beat it, hoping to evade the authorities.
What do you think?
Will you join the Botwins on their lunatic journey this summer?
Any guesses on what Dreyfuss’ “unexpected character” will entail?

Warehouse 13 Season Two Premiere Review- Time Will Tell
July 7, 2010 by Sarah Curtis
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Sarah (Seels), Warehouse 13
Boom goes the dynamite, WAREHOUSE 13 fans! What is UP?! It has been SO long since we’ve had new episodes. I didn’t think this summer season was EVER going to come. But here it is! And wasn’t the premiere great? First of all, I loved that season two picked up immediately where season one left off. Season one left us with many questions, and I wanted them answered. But I didn’t want to be TOLD them…I wanted to see what happened.
And right away, we got…more questions.
Haha, but I guess that was to be expected, right? First of all, how the heck did Artie transpose into the flesh with Myka and Pete? And was Mrs. Fredericks the one who was killed? And…who was the person in the gray robe that Leena passed to MacPherson?
So yes, there were more questions, but what made that okay was that Pete, Myka and even Artie were completely…themselves, right away. Within the first few minutes, I felt like I was right back into the warehouse, with all of its quirks and smiling at Pete’s antics (and love of….comic books) and Myka’s love of libraries. GMMR’s Marisa Roffman talked with Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly (Pete & Myka) and what I liked best about that interview (You can read that, and a little recap of the end of last season here…) is that they reinforced the idea that they aren’t interested in creating a ‘will they or won’t they’ romantic tension and are very satisfied with the brother/sister dynamic that is set up. Warehouse 13 is definitely a show with family as a root theme, and this episode reinforced that. And, along the way it managed to answer some of the questions it posed.
We see Artie at the bedside of hospitalized Mrs. F, and he has a flash or vision of her telling him to search for Claudia and her brother Joshua. Artie leaves Pete and Myka to search the warehouse for any clues or traces MacPherson may have left. When they start in the bronzing room, they see that the bronzer had two manual entries; one was the de-bronzing of MacPherson himself, and the other (the mysterious robed person)…was H.G. Wells.
That reveal raised a few eyebrows, including mine and Pete’s. But further research shows that a historical Wells’ home had been broken into with nothing stolen. This leads Pete to have a vibe about going to London and Myka goes along with it.
The theme of family is continued when we see Claudia chatting online with Joshua who is then interrupted by one of his employers. It’s not a surprise when the employer is revealed to be MacPherson.
Meanwhile, Pete & Myka have arrived in London to find Wells and see if ‘he’ is up to no good. One of the trends I didn’t like last season was the way Pete was kind of presented as a bumbling idiot. After all, the show’s premise revolves around the idea that he and Myka are top agents and being assigned to the warehouse is a promotion (even if they didn’t see it that way). So when he busted into the dramatic presentation with the HG Wells impersonator, spouting off accusations, I was annoyed.
Myka is also slightly annoyed, but she deals, and she has bigger Pete issues, in that he is continually attracted to a British tourist whom he makes out with in the entrance of the Wells home. But what news does Myka have for him? HG Wells is a woman, of course. But by that time, Pete has figured that out for himself, because she has turned his Tesla gun against him. What did you think of that plot point that Wells is a woman? It worked for me.
Wells is there to get back the ‘Impercepter Vest’ , and she is tag-teaming with MacPherson because once she has the vest, they can quickly and ‘imperceptively’ penetrate the Escher vault in the warehouse, where all the belongings of bronzed persons are stored. Sidenote: Remember last year when we talked about how the bronzing seemed to be kind of inhumane, and that lent a dark quality to the warehouse? I liked how that was reinforced in this episode, when Pete & Myka found out that people who are bronzed are capable of thought. I liked that Pete asked Artie if HE knew that, and it was interesting to me that Artie said yes.
You know how sometimes, you see something happening on a show, and your first thought it…I can’t believe this is happening, but when you really take a second thought, you realize, ‘this is totally plausible’? Um…Mrs. F. choking Leena to death was simultaneously shocking and yet completely in character. Didn’t you think so? I certainly appreciated that Leena was brought back to life almost immediately, but I’m just saying, I totally bought into the idea that Mrs. F could kill like that.
The rest of the team manages to get back to the warehouse fast enough to trick MacPherson, but when Wells joins them quickly, she has her own plan. She breaks MacPherson’s beads, which we know means his imminent death. I know he’s a bad guy and all, but I was kind of bummed that he’s dead, if only because he has been an excellent villain.
I liked that the ‘artifact’ for this week was both Wells AND the Impercepter Vest, and I think it’s safe to assume that Wells is our new villain, and I have to admit that she makes a good one.
All in all, the season two premiere did a great job of re-introducing us to each character (including the warehouse), creating an interesting case, and reinforcing the underlying theme of family. All of this, combined with the bickering between Claudia and Leena, Artie giving Claudia the handheld communicator and the shared smiles between Pete & Myka proved to me that the writers are clear on what they want to accomplish this season, and I’m more excited now that I’ve seen the episode than before it started.
The best line of the night actually came from MacPherson, “Welcome to the future; let’s change it, shall we?” So…welcome to season two of Warehouse 13. Let’s watch together, shall we?!
Be sure to comment below! Let me know what you thought of this episode and what you’ve been up to this summer so far!

THE WIRE Project: Season 1, Disc 2
July 7, 2010 by Erik Wilkinson
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Erik, The Wire, The Wire Project
Welcome to Week 2 of The Wire Project. We are just scratching the surface of Baltimore’s grittiest cops and drug dealers. Alliances are forming, rivalries are building, and allegiances are being brought into question.
Early reactions from the GMMR community to Disc 1 were almost universally positive, with many noting Executive Producer David Simon’s attention to detail. To create a fictional world worth watching, Simon and his team took great pains to explain the agendas of each faction. Viewers are not hit over the head with a political philosophy. Instead, we are invited to form our own opinions about characters like Jimmy McNulty, D’ Angelo Barksdale, and Stringer Bell.
Heather & I got together via Barnes & Noble’s generous Wi-Fi policy to share our views on “Old Cases” & “The Pager.” By the way, if you have been interested in joining The Wire Project, but do not have access to the show’s DVD sets, GMMR reader “Makila” noted in last week’s discussion that The Wire is also available on iTunes. If you’re constantly on the move, or knee deep in iTunes gift cards, this could be your invitation to the fun!
BONES: Yep, [spoiler alert] is getting a [spoiler alert]

Okay BONES fans, breathe.
I’m going to be completely honest — I really don’t want to write about the following spoiler. At all. It’s getting people all angsty and emo months before the show even comes back.
Those readers who’ve followed Korbi and I for some time — especially those of you who were lovely enough to join us for our BONES post-episode chats this past spring — know that I’ve been pretty much dragging my feet on this topic for a while. I was hoping it wouldn’t be reported before the fall season hit, but that was clearly wishful thinking.
And since everyone now seems to know what’s coming, and many of you have expressed a desire to vent your feelings, we’re gonna chat it out, okay?
Warning: BONES spoiler after the jump.
Former LOST star Henry Ian Cusick to Appear on LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT
July 6, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under Law & Order, Lost, SVU
Henry Ian Cusick has found life after LOST.
Though NBC has declined to comment, sources confirm to GIVE ME MY REMOTE that Cusick will appear in the upcoming 12th season of LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT.
Rumor has it, Cusick’s character may be striking up a flirtation with Mariska Hargitay’s Olivia Benson… which worries us.
Yes, Olivia deserves a little fun in her life — the writers tend to kick her around a bit too much — But if she’s meeting a guy because he’s involved in a case, that’s not good. It’s a red flag, as far as we’re concerned.
Think Henry Ian Cusick will end up screwing Olivia over?
Or are we overreacting?
Either way, we’re psyched to have him back on our TV screens.
Are you looking forward to seeing Cusick take on SVU?

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Lessons: Melinda Sullivan Tap Challenges GMMR’s Korbi Ghosh
July 6, 2010 by Korbi Ghosh
Filed under #1 featured, So You Think You Can Dance, SYTYCD
After her elimination from SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE last week (July 1), tapper Melinda Sullivan met up with me for a quick lesson…
But what she didn’t know was that I was in more of a competition mode.
Yeah, she thought her dance challenges ended Thursday night, but I gave the girl another opportunity to really showcase her talent.
Now, some may say my talent outshined hers.
I certainly felt that way.
But you guys can judge for yourselves…
Thoughts?
Yes, you’re impressed, I know…

WAREHOUSE 13: Eddie McClintock and Joanne Kelly Talk Romance, Guest Stars and Season 2
July 6, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, TV News, Warehouse 13
It’s been nearly nine months since WAREHOUSE 13 concluded its first season, so let’s quickly recap where we left off…
Artie finally captured MacPherson. But the relief was short-lived because Leena (disguised as Claudia) helped MacPherson escape. Pete got one of his vibes, so he and Myka went to check on Artie, but they were too late… MacPherson had trapped Artie in a tunnel by setting off a self-destruct mode, leaving Artie to burn up in the fire. Maybe.
Thankfully, the long wait is finally over and fans will get answers to many of their W13 questions when the second season premieres Tuesday night (July 6).
To honor the occasion, GIVE ME MY REMOTE chatted with stars Eddie McClintock (Pete) and Joanne Kelly (Myka).
We got a few serious nuggets out of them, but as you’ll see, their chemistry isn’t confined solely to the screen.
THE BACHELORETTE: WTF Moment of the Week: Jake and Vienna Edition
July 6, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, The Bachelor, The Bachelorette
Is it cheating if our ‘BACHELORETTE: WTF Moment of the Week’ focuses on THE BACHELOR couple Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi?
Maybe.
But since ABC chose to air the Jake/Vienna showdown during Monday (July 5) night’s episode of THE BACHELORETTE — and since the Frank drama that they teased to in last week’s promo didn’t air at all — we’ve decided to give the dissolution of the Jake-Vienna relationship its due.
I mean, wow, it was like watching the worst (and best) kind of TV trainwreck.
This was apparently the first time the two former lovers had seen each other since they broke up and we thought it was awesome how Jake wouldn’t even look at Vienna when she spoke.
Of course everyone who cares about this drama — and surely a few who don’t — had already heard the accusations: Vienna cheated! Jake wouldn’t sleep with her! Jake tried to hit her during the taping of the follow-up segment!
And those claims were continuously repeated during Jake and Vienna’s onscreen reunion, which lasted nearly 40-minutes. Jake kept saying she cheated with GREEK actor Gregory Michael. She insisted she didn’t meet him until after she had broken up with Jake… though Jake says he broke up with her… yeah, we’re not buying that story. If that was the case, he probably wouldn’t have been so blind-sided by her running to the nearest tabloid.
But anyway, most of the big stuff from their he said-she said segment was already old news, however, we did get one fresh reveal: Seems Vienna tried to leave Jake twice before. He called those incidents “temper tantrums” and she said no, that she was actually trying to break it off, but didn’t because he said he’d change.
Watching the two of them interact, the failure of their relationship is no big mystery.
We’re pretty sure Jake was a big fan of Vienna’s need to interrupt him every five seconds.
But he didn’t come off looking too good either. First, he admitted that he threw a GPS in anger when Vienna tried to use it to get directions. Then he said he felt cut down because she remeasured the furniture in their apartment. Um, okay, control freak.
By the way, loved how ABC opened the second part of the segment with footage of the Jake and Vienna proposal. Such an awesome contrast to what’s going down with them now.
Ahhh, love…
Got your own thoughts on Jake and Vienna’s onscreen reunion? Was it as dramatic as you hoped it would be? And whose side are you on? Speak to us in the comments section…

BIG BROTHER 12: Meet the Houseguests
July 5, 2010 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, Big Brother, Big Brother 12
My summer obsession is back! BIG BROTHER returns to CBS in just three days. Are you as excited as I am? I hope so because we’ll be covering BIG BROTHER here on GIVE ME MY REMOTE all season long!
The thirteen new houseguests have just entered the house and those 55 cameras are already recording their every move in anticipation of the July 8th premiere.
Twelve contestants will battle it out all summer long in the hopes of being the last person in the house and winner of $50,000. But wait, didn’t you say there were 13 houseguests? Why yes, I did. Thirteen people are moving into the house, but one of those houseguests doesn’t have the same agenda as his or her roommates. One houseguest this season has been named ‘The Saboteur’. The Saboteur will take on special challenges and tasks aimed at disrupting the lives and the game of the other houseguests, all without getting caught. Assuming this is going to work somewhat like ‘America’s Player’, it’s not going to be easy for this person to remain under the radar.
The strength of each season of BIG BROTHER lies squarely on the shoulder of the houseguests. Get a bunch of duds and you’ve got some really boring TV. Get the right mix of people and you are in for one hell of a season. Who will we hate? Who will we love? Who can replace the empty place in my heart now that Jeff and Jordan our gone?
Get to know a little more about the houseguests entering the BIG BROTHER house this season. And be sure to tune in on July 8th at 8pm on CBS when Julie Chen (‘The Chenbot’) welcomes us back to the BIG BROTHER house.
