GMMR Chats with DROP DEAD DIVA’s Guardian Angel, Ben Feldman

Hey DROP DEAD DIVA fans! GIVE ME MY REMOTE recently got the chance to chat with your favorite guardian angel turned administrative assistant, Fred, played by the charming and adorable, Ben Feldman.

Why is Ben drawn to “food, booze & music”? Why does he thinks a show is better in season two than season one?  And what does he think about Fred and Jane’s romantic future.

Hi Ben. How are you?

Ben: I’m good. I love the name of your website.

Oh, thank you! It’s definitely a site where fans come together and express their love of TV shows, and DROP DEAD DIVA is one of them, so we were really excited to talk to you today. Congrats on being named a series regular. Fans were pretty upset when it looked like Fred’s character might be on the way out in season one.

Ben: Oh…they weren’t outraged. They were just confused (laughs). No, I’m very, very lucky and super excited that I’ve been so openly and warmly welcomed into this cool family. I’m just really happy to be here.

Someone on our site once mentioned that Fred and Jane actually make the nicest couple. They bicker sometimes, but they get along so well. Do you think the two might ever pair up, romantically?

Ben: You know, it’s weird, because I hear people say that every once in awhile, and it’s weird to me. I feel like Brooke (Elliott, Jane) and I…and I would imagine Fred and Jane, look at each other like brother and sister. So when people say that, I’m always kind of taken aback for a second. I don’t know why it ended up being like that. I guess it’s because we didn’t really being with that sort of a relationship. We jumped straight into guardian and…gaurdee, or whatever she would be called, and so now at this point, it just feels like it would be super weird. But maybe we could make it work. That’s like season six.

Are the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Contestants Pushing Themselves Too Hard? Adam Shankman Weighs In

For the second week in a row, a contestant has dropped out of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE due to injury, so the question begs to be asked: are these kids pushing themselves too hard?

GIVE ME MY REMOTE caught up with judge Adam Shankman backstage after Ashley’s cracked rib forced her off the show and got his take on the situation.

“I think the kids are pushing themselves very, very hard,” he says in the video below. “But it’s a competition. What’s too hard?…This is what they have to do, what they believe they have to do to win. I got hurt a lot as a dancer…this is a sport.”

We also asked him what he thought it would take to get America to pick up the phone and vote for the brilliant Billy Bell, who ended up in the Bottom 3 again this week. Check out what he had to say…

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE’s Ashley Galvan on her Show-Ending Injury and When We’ll See Her Again

Another Thursday and another SO YOU CAN THINK YOU CAN DANCEr is going home.

But that’s not the only pattern we saw continue this week.

Once again, the contestant eliminated wasn’t sent home due to their lack of skills or personality, but instead hit the road due to doctor’s orders.

Seriously, should we be pulling out the bubblewrap as a protective measure? Because this is just getting ridiculous.

Poor Ashley Galvan — who was one of our favorites this season — is now off the show because of a cracked rib.

Sucks.

Nigel Lythgoe announced that doctors have advised Ashley to spend the next 3-5 weeks healing, which of course means automatic elimination.

The silver lining? If her recovery goes as planned, she’ll be a part of the upcoming SYTYCD tour.

But how is she doing right now?

And would she come back for the next season if she was asked?

Check out what Galvan had to say when we caught up with her backstage, immediately after the show…

Was Ashley your favorite contestant? If so, who are you rooting for now?

Who Went Home on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE?

Filed under So You Think You Can Dance, SYTYCD, TV News

Oh friends. Tonight we have to say goodbye to yet another SO YOU THINK YOU CAN Dancer. We already know Ashley is in the bottom three because she wasn’t able to perform last night due to injury.

Last week the judges were off the hook as Alex’s injury forced him out of the competition.  Will injury force out another contestant or will Ashley have a fair shake against the other dancers in the bottom?

Before we get to the results it’s time for a little dancing.  The All Star joined the S7 contestant for a Broadway piece by Tyce Dioro. There were some really smooth and cool moments, but it was a little too frantic for my liking. I’m sure it was a big hit with others, and perhaps some of you.  Did you love it?

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Tour
This week we shared with you the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE tour dates.  Tonight, Nigel revealed that the tour will not only feature the S7 dancers, but also some of the All Stars AND some of the S6 contestants.  Due to the crazy back-to-back shows, S6 didn’t have a tour.  So you might have a chance to see some of your favorites from last year, Jakob, Russell, Katherine, Legacy or others perform live. Very exciting!

Not wanting to waste too much time, Cat stars with the results.

GREY’S ANATOMY Adds James Tupper to Seattle Grace Staff

Seattle Grace is staffing up for fall.

ABC confirms that James Tupper — of MERCY, MEN IN TREES (and I’m dating Anne Heche) fame — has been hired to play a trauma counselor, as first reported by EW.com.

You know, ’cause some of the survivors of that shootout in May might need to talk to someone after witnessing so many co-workers and patients shot to death in the hallway and stuff.

Makes sense, no?

Any thoughts on Tupper? Think he’s the man for the job?

THE GOOD GUYS: Sneak a Peek at Monday’s Episode with a Very Special Guest

July 15, 2010 by

This past May, yours truly was treated to a some quality time with THE GOOD GUYS on their Dallas, Texas set.

I got the chance to hang with the cast and crew and also had the opportunity to be an extra in a couple scenes of the show.

It was the greatest time a girl could possibly have walking around in 100 degree weather!

Being in the background of a real-live TV scene? Honestly, a dream come true for this TV nerd… and my network television debut is coming up.

The episode, airing Monday (July 19),  also features Dan Castellaneta, aka Homer Simpson.

So check out the clips below to see what Jack and Dan and their guests will be up to and try to spot me if you can (in case you don’t know what I look like, I’m the blur in blue)…

Did you see me?!

Clearly, I’ll be receiving an Emmy nod next summer.

FX’s fall schedule will begin on Tuesday, September 7th with the season 3 premiere of its Katey Sagal-Ron Perlman dramedy SONS OF ANARCHY, followed by new series TERRIERS on Wednesday, September 8th. Comedies IT’S ALWAYS SUNNY IN PHILADELPHIA and THE LEAGUE will premiere on Thursday, September 16th.

The full schedule — as well as the network’s description of TERRIERS — is below…

FX’s FALL SCHEDULE FOR ORIGINAL SERIES:

Sons of Anarchy Season 3 Premieres Tuesday, September 7, 10 PM E/P

Terriers Season 1 Premieres Wednesday, September 8, 10 PM E/P

It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia Season 6 Premieres Thursday, September 16, 10 PM E/P

Terriers, from creator/executive producer Ted Griffin (Ocean’s Eleven) and executive producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield), is a comedic drama starring Donal Logue (The Tao of Steve, Damages) and Michael Raymond-James (True Blood). It centers on “Hank Dolworth” (Logue), an ex-cop who partners with his best friend “Britt Pollack” (Raymond-James) to launch an unlicensed private investigation business. The duo, both struggling with maturity issues, solve crimes while avoiding danger and responsibility. Craig Brewer (Hustle and Flow, The Shield) directed the pilot episode. Terriers is produced by Fox 21. FX will air 13 episodes of Terriers.

P.S. Kaitlin Olson’s real life pregnancy has apparently been written into this upcoming season of SUNNY… Excited?

WHITE COLLAR Season Premiere: Withdrawal

July 15, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, White Collar

Hellooooo, GMMR Readers, Mary here! I am so excited to join you for the second season of White Collar. (Almost as excited as I am to have Matthew Bomer’s blue eyes back on my screen!)

Tuesday night’s season premiere picked up shortly after the finale’s explosive ending (yes, that pun was intended), with Peter being questioned and Neal back in jail. Thanks to USA’s nonstop promos over the past month – and the entire premise of the show – I wasn’t too worried that our main characters would be kept apart for long.

So it wasn’t surprising when Neal rejoined Peter in attempting to prevent a bank heist. Within a few minutes, life was back to normal.

As normal as it gets with a tracking device on your ankle, that is.

WAREHOUSE 13 Recap: Mild Mannered

Warehouse 13

Was anyone else smiling from pretty much start to finish? I’m going to go ahead and say it has a lot to do with Pete Lattimer, which I guess means it has a lot to do with Eddie McClintock. The show just has so much heart, and this episode really embodied that. Speaking of embodied things…let’s start talking about that!

Pete and Myka spend most of this episode in Detroit, where “mild mannered” Sheldon has come into possession of an artifact that gives him super-powers. He decides to take it upon himself to rid his neighborhood of evil doings, particularly anything that might cause danger to the woman he loves, Loretta (Jewel Staite, who with Sheldon’s Sean Maher, played in GMMR fave Firefly!). But like all artifacts on the show, the capacity for greatness runs parallel with potential for incredible danger. I liked that Sheldon is a GOOD person, not someone bad who is trying to take advantage of an artifact’s power. I also really thought his relationship with Loretta was very sweet. Sweet probably isn’t the word to describe the way he apprehends robbers and vandals by tossing them out of tall storied buildings, however, and that is where Pete and Myka come in. With the help of Claudia, they determine that it’s Sheldon’s super-suit that is the artifact, belonging to the famed comic book character, Iron Shadow.

The ESPYs: Steve Carell and Paul Rudd Spoof LeBron James’ THE DECISION

July 15, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Steve Carell

“Dinner for Schmucks” co-stars Steve Carell and Paul Rudd reunited Wednesday night (July 14) at the ESPYs to poke a little fun at LeBron James’ much discussed ESPN special, THE DECISION.

For the non-sports fans — or those who just managed to avoid the entire circus — some background: James is a big time basketball player who was wooed by many teams when his contract expired. Instead of announcing his decision in a normal way (a quick press conference, through a representative, via the team of his choice… hell, even Twitter would’ve done the job), James booked an hour of primetime airtime on ESPN, handpicked the journalist he wanted to talk with and then forced us to listen to riveting questions regarding his penchant for nail biting before finally revealing that he was taking his “talents” to South Beach to play for the Miami Heat.

Uh, yeah, it was ridiculous.

Based on the Rudd-Carell spoof, I’d say that Lebron’s special would have greatly benefited from having a little comic relief. I’m sure Rudd and/or Carell would’ve gladly participated, if asked.

I mean, look, Carell knows how to announce a major decision publicly.

Observe…

Dude, the next Dundies at Chili’s is going to be super awkward.

HOUSE: Amber Tamblyn is Princeton Plainsboro’s Newest Recruit

July 14, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, House, TV News

Amber Tamblyn — best known for her Emmy-nominated role on the short-lived JOAN OF ARCADIA, though many of you probably remember her from GENERAL HOSPITAL too — is going to be Dr. Gregory House’s newest duckling.

FOX confirms that Tamblyn will play a brilliant and aggressive med student whom House (Hugh Laurie) hires as a team member, though she’s not yet certified to practice. Her character will apparently have some issues with the questionable morals and ethics the cranky doc employs while doing his job… which will probably drive her away, ultimately, as Tamblyn is only set to stick around for a few eps as of now.

Any thoughts?
