PARENTHOOD: Two New Clips from Season 2

Comments Off on PARENTHOOD: Two New Clips from Season 2
Behind the scenes at GIVE ME MY REMOTE, we are huge fans of NBC’s PARENTHOOD. If you listen to Kath’s TV Talk Podcast, follow Korbi’s scoops on the show’s cast, or read my reviews from Season One, it comes as no surprise that we are part of Team Braverman.
Since I started teaching two weeks ago, my e-mail inbox has been woefully neglected. It is unfair to my friends planning get-togethers and to spam marketers offering me the financial opportunity of a lifetime. Shaping young minds requires sacrifice, and I had to set those invitations aside.
However, when the subject line of a message says, “New Parenthood Promos,” grading and lesson planning has to take a back seat. I set aside my grade book and red pen, and rushed to share these clips with GMMR readers.
Please enjoy these two new sneak peeks at Season 2:

MODERN FAMILY’s Steve Levitan on the Emmys and Season 2

A kiss is just a kiss…unless you’re MODERN FAMILY.
When fans noticed that Cam and Mitchell — a long-term couple and the fathers of baby Lily — had yet to share an onscreen smooch, they wondered if their sexual orientation was playing into the lack of onscreen affection.
No matter the reason for the lack of smoochage, Cam and Mitchell will be sharing a kiss this season — a storyline that was already in place before the fuss had even started.
“One could argue that is a thing, that that’s a significant thing,” Levitan says. “It’s something we had planned the story for like six months or more. We talked about it several times last season and it’s a story that will not be what people expect. But the whole episode deals with the power of a kiss.”
The power of a kiss just for Cam and Mitchell or could perhaps a few of the kids be involved as well?
“There are many people involved in these various kisses,” he teases. “And you will have to tune in to find out.”
Oh, we will.
So why has Levitan been spent the past week partying it up? Take a look…

LOST’s Damon Lindelof: ‘When You Aspire to Be Something Special, You Are Going to Polarize People’

Comments Off on LOST’s Damon Lindelof: ‘When You Aspire to Be Something Special, You Are Going to Polarize People’
What the heck was that sideways world?
An alternate reality where Oceanic 815 never crashed?
Heaven?
A dream?
Viewers didn’t get a straight answer, per say, but we do know what was revealed by Christian Shephard in the series finale in May. According to Jack’s dad, the sideways world was actually a place the survivors of 815 created so they could reunite with each other after they had passed away.
But in the days following the finale, many fans took the sideways world reveal to mean that the passengers of flight 815 had been dead all along.
So what did LOST co-creator Damon Lindelof think about the lingering debate about the series finale?
“It’s impossible to get frustrated about that, because one of the wonderful things about LOST is that there’s this interpretive quality to it,” Lindelof says in the video below. “And it would be sort of tantamount to us coming down from the mountaintop and saying, ‘Your theory is wrong.’ It never felt right. The show is different things to different people and we obviously intended it in a certain way so that if Jack asks Christian in that final scene, ‘But is it all real?’ and he says, Yes, it’s all real, everything that happened to you is totally real, your perception of what reality is entirely subject to — and the fact that those debates are going to rage and rage and rage is sort of a wonderful thing.”
“It’s frustrating, obviously, we would love it if everybody saw the show in one way and that way was they loved it uncategorically,” he continues. “But if you go back and you look at THE SOPRANOS ending — which I personally thought was brilliant and other people thought was a cop-out — when you aspire to be something special, you are going to polarize people. That’s the price of doing business, as they say.”
Well said.
Check out the video below for more from Lindelof, including his thoughts on the LOST auction and what’s up next for him…

There’s been an overload of BONES material this week, hasn’t there?
Between the promo with season 6 scenes and that fun dance break, we got some good stuff.
Today, however, GIVE ME MY REMOTE has a little added bonus for you guys.
We chatted with BONES executive producers Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan about Emily Deschanel’s directorial debut and David Boreanaz getting his turn behind the camera this season…
BONES, COMMUNITY, MY GENERATION, THE BIG BANG THEORY, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES: Thursday at 8 Madness

They say you can never have too much of a good thing.
“They” clearly never met the Thursday at 8 fall 2010 network lineup.
Good grief.
TV viewers will have BONES, COMMUNITY, MY GENERATION, THE BIG BANG THEORY and THE VAMPIRE DIARIES going up against each other in the 8 p.m. hour. At 8:30, 30 ROCK and freshman show $#*! MY DAD SAYS take over the NBC and CBS timeslots respectively.
Oy.
Pretty much what my nightmares are made of. For a TV geek, anyway.
You think I’m kidding, but when I think about that logjam, my heart races, my palms sweat and I start to freak out about way too much good television. I honestly have no idea how I’m going to handle that night.
At all.
I mean, take a look at the five shows at 8…
Michael Emerson Talks LOST Epilogue, the Auction and Working with Terry O’Quinn Again
August 26, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, Emmys, Lost
LOST ended in May. You would think that would mean that its poor actors would finally be off the hook when it comes to keeping their characters’ storylines on the down low.
For most of the cast, that is the case. But for those involved in the LOST epilogue,”The New Man in Charge,” it was a few additional months of having to keep their lips sealed.
As one of the only people privy to the answers provided in “The New Man In Charge,” Emmy-nominee Michael Emerson was tasked with keeping quiet until this very week when it was released on the season 6 DVD.
But when GIVE ME MY REMOTE caught up with Emerson yesterday, he said he was cool with it.
“It was okay,” he assures us in the video below. “I was so pleased that they asked me to be part of that epilogue, because I felt it had such an interesting light-hearted tone to it. I was glad that I got to participate in that — that little dessert at the end of the long, long meal that LOST was.”
We were glad he was a part of it as well.
We also got his take on the outrageous auction prices at last weekend’s LOST auction and found out what it will take to get him to reunite with former costar Terry O’Quinn in a new series.
Take a look…

BONES Season 6 Promo: Kissing, Love and Reunions
August 25, 2010 by Marisa Roffman

Oh boy.
FOX really isn’t holding (much) back as far as where the Booth-Brennan relationship is starting off, showing that yep, Booth is coming back with a girlfriend.
Brennan certainly appears to be handling the news well, doesn’t she?
But you gotta love Cam blatantly laying it out there for Brennan, saying,”I just assumed that when you guys got back, you’d be a real couple.” And fans likely remember, Cam was the one who called Booth out on his being in love with Brennan in last season’s premiere.
Enough of our chatting, take a look for yourself…

So, what do you think of our first look at season 6?
And let’s speculate what other surprises will be in store for the season premiere, because there might be another shock that’s coming our way…

LOST: ‘The New Man in Charge’ Brings Answers and More Questions
August 25, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
More than 3 months after LOST aired its series finale, fans got a little more closure in the form of a DVD-only epilogue.
While the 11-minute story briefly leaked a few weeks ago, I resisted the urge to view it before I had the actual season 6 DVD in my possession.
And since some fans are a bit split on the actual content of these bonus minutes, I thought it would be fun for us to dissect and debate the final story.
Cool?
Have you watched the epilogue?
If so, read on…
WHITE COLLAR: Prisoner’s Dilemma
August 25, 2010 by Team GMMR
Filed under #1 featured, White Collar
Last night’s episode was full of finger pointing, pot roasts, safe houses and agents on the run. Let’s dive in.
Case of the Week
We should have known – and most of us probably did – that mayhem would ensue when Peter promised Elizabeth he’d be home for a date night (a.k.a. pot roast dinner) and work would absolutely not interfere with these plans.
How long has he been in law enforcement? Did he really think this would work out?
It turns out that Peter and Neal have been [inconveniently] called into the office on a Saturday because a fellow FBI agent is on the run. The U.S. Marshals can’t find him, and they’ve been instructed to team up with the Bureau.
Neal: Do all the higher-ups do the double finger point?
Peter: They teach it at Quantico.
After an investigation that includes Peter driving his dream car and Neal selling someone else his dream car, the team realizes that the agent on the run, Jack Franklin, might not be guilty of the things he’s been accused. Peter gives Jack’s former informant (and girlfriend) the message that he will listen to Jack’s story with an open mind.
WAREHOUSE 13 Recap: Merge with Caution
August 25, 2010 by Sarah Curtis
Filed under #1 featured, Warehouse 13
Hey, WAREHOUSE 13 pals! This episode starts out with a bang, or really a crash, as Pete and Myka are on the trail of a window-breaking, fast running, jewelry thief. Pete grabs his backpack, but neither of them can actually grab the thief. Inside the bag is a bronze griffin (half lion, half eagle). Myka tells us that historically in Greek mythology, they were used to protect treasure. Since it appears to be an artifact now, Pete and Myka are happy. Case closed, right? Pete tells Myka she can now go to her high school reunion to see her old friends, IF she has old friends, that is.
She assures him that she does, sort of, or at least, people she tutored. So they place the griffin into an artifact bag. But just as they are doing so, it reacts; its eyes go yellow. Then Myka and Pete’s do the same.
No harm, no foul, though, right? Yeah, they’d LIKE to think so.

BACHELOR PAD WTF Moment of the Week: Kissing Contest Edition
August 24, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, Bachelor Pad
Guys, I’m not sure if I have the vocabulary to properly express the ickiness of tonight’s BACHELOR PAD kissing contest, but I could probably best sum it up in one word: Ew.
I’m under no delusions about what kind of show I’m watching. BACHELOR PAD is guilty pleasure fun, which often borders on the trashtastic side. And I’ve accepted that I watch this franchise in spite of — or maybe because of — that.
COVERT AFFAIRS: Inside Scoop from Sendhil Ramamurthy
August 24, 2010 by Erik Wilkinson
Filed under #1 featured, Covert Affairs
COVERT AFFAIRS is already one of USA’s biggest hits, with a passionate fan base who have already earned the show a second season. Armed with a fresh take on the spy world and a cast full of familiar and talented faces, COVERT AFFAIRS is well-positioned for a long run in prime time. Before tonight’s episode, titled “Communication Breakdown,” I thought GIVE ME MY REMOTE readers would appreciate a peek behind the scenes with one of the program’s most influential characters.
Sendhil Ramamurthy is no stranger to enthusiastic TV fans, most notably for his run on NBC’s HEROES. After four seasons as Dr. Mohinder Suresh, Ramamurthy was eager to take on a new challenge, free of superpowers and overarching storylines. Recently, Sendhil took time out to offer insights about his background, the journey to join COVERT AFFAIRS, and scoop about his character, Jai Wilcox.
-How Sendhil became a part of the COVERT AFFAIRS cast:
USA decided to make a little change from the pilot and bring in the Jai Wilcox character. They kind of approached me about it… and I did a chemistry read with Piper Perabo and I got the job the next day. It was a script that I really liked. It was a very different character for me to play from what I had been doing before.
