CASTLE’s Tamala Jones on Romance and Family in Season 3

CASTLE’s Tamala Jones (Lanie) is going to get her time in the spotlight in season 3!
When GIVE ME MY REMOTE caught up with Jones at Comic-Con, she shared that fans will learn more about her character in an upcoming episode.
“I’ve been hearing that they want to do more backstory on Lanie, like maybe bring one of her family members to the forefront,” Jones says in the video below. “And I suggested if we had her mother come in, that Pam Grier would play her mother, because…I would love that. I see the toughness in Lanie that I see in Pam Grier…But we’ll see how far back they go, if any of my family members show up or we just talk about it. But Terri Edda — who wrote the Halloween episode — she’s in charge of writing the Lanie episode and she’s very excited about it and I know it’s going to be amazing because she’s an amazing writer.”
Jones also teased that she’s been hearing some whispers about Lanie and Esposito hooking up…something her onscreen counterpart Jon Huertas (Esposito) is all for.
Plus, what did she think of CASTLE’s first Comic-Con experience? Take a look…

DROP DEAD DIVA: Will & Grayson

Comments Off on DROP DEAD DIVA: Will & Grayson
Hey, hey, Drop Dead Diva fans! Lots to talk about this episode. So much intrigue.
DID Jane have an affair with Todd? Would she find the missing evidence? Would Grayson win his case against Vanessa’s ex-fiance’s company? Would Fred actually be able to nail Stacy an acting job, therefore increasing his chances to…well, you know! There’s a lot to discuss, so let’s get to it!
New Jane finds herself in a predicament when accepting an honor from the local police department, a woman accuses her (or Old Jane, really), of having an affair with her husband, Todd. Jane is sure she never could have done anything like that, new or old, but it’s up to her to figure out the truth. With Stacy and Teri’s help, she sets out to clear her name. I liked that idea that New Jane had to stand up for Old Jane. She travels to the hotel where the incriminating photos were taken and gets copies of her receipts. There she is given a set of prescription sunglasses and a lead to where Todd might be. She finds him and confesses she suffered memory loss. In a nice moment of vulnerability, she asks Todd to tell her everything that happened between them. Once he reveals that she was helping defend him against theft charges in his police department, Jane realizes she needs to find the evidence that supports him.
WHITE COLLAR: Unfinished Business

Ho-hum. Insurance, blah, blah, blah. You weren’t alone if those were your first thoughts when this episode started; Neal wasn’t excited, either. But it didn’t take long for an insurance scam to turn into something a lot more interesting!
Case of the Week
We quickly learn that Sara Ellis, the insurance investigator Peter and Neal are working with, is the same woman who testified against Neal at his trial. And apparently she’s still upset that he wasn’t convicted of stealing “her” painting, thanks to that jury of his peers.
Mozzie: Who’s Sara Ellis?
Neal: You weren’t at my trial. She was.
Their banter was quick and constant throughout the episode, but I just couldn’t quite buy her hostility toward Neal. She was too smiley, I think, which is ironic considering her complaint about his smile meaning that he wants something.
[Hmm . . . if we operate on that theory, I wonder what, exactly, she wants from Neal?]
Neal: So you’re basically a high-class repo man.
Sara: I prefer white collar bounty hunter.
Neal: You should put that on your business cards.
Peter demands that Neal cooperate with Sara on their investigation into stolen bank bonds. Neal reluctantly agrees – even when Sara goads him with a tape recorder and claims that she will prove he stole her painting.
In yet another situation where Neal gets to take off his tracking device, he impersonates Mr. Black, a guy working for Edgar Halbridge, the suspected bond thief.
It turns out Mr. Black has been hired to kill none other than Sara Ellis, which means Neal – as Black – finds himself in Sara’s bedroom, pointing a gun at her. Sara then pulls a gun on Neal, and they’re both saved by a phone call from Peter, who verifies that Neal is not actually going to kill anyone.
Neal: She put her gun in my face.
Mozzie: And cocked it?
Neal: Yeah.
Mozzie: You’ve come back from worse.
Neal: She has a gun.
Mozzie: Is it still pointing at you?
Neal: No, I think I convinced her I’m not trying to kill her anymore.
Mozzie: Well, you are a charmer.
The team decides to fake Sara’s death and move her into the FBI office until they can determine why Halbridge has hired someone to kill an insurance investigator, of all things.
I think it was a stretch for Sara to insist on living at the Bureau instead of a safe house, but it provided opportunity for some fun interactions between the various characters. Peter and Neal’s back-and-forth about playing nice cracked me up. Their rhythm was great, and I rewound and watched it a couple times.
Peter: Right now we’re on the same team, so play nice.
Neal: She —
Peter: No.
Neal: I’m —
Peter: Don’t.
Neal: Fine.
Peter: Good.
Neal and Sara had a little picnic on the roof, where they seemed to declare a tentative truce. Then Peter and Sara had a heart-to-heart after Elizabeth nudged Peter into playing therapist with the investigator. Both conversations started out light but moved into more serious territory, with Sara kind of freaking out that nobody seemed to care much about her “death.”
Sara: Neal came by. We had a nice little chat.
Peter: Is he in one piece?
Sara: Yes, I left him whole.
Peter: Good, I prefer him that way.
Eventually the team realized that the hit had been placed on Sara five months earlier, when she was investigating one particular building Halbridge owns. After visits from Mr. Black (a.k.a. Neal) and Peter, Halbridge started to move. A dead body was dug up at his building, an identity theft was discovered and he was arrested – with bonds in hand – by the whole team.
The actual Mr. Black snuck back into play, though, and almost took out Sara and Neal at her apartment. Peter and team burst in to save the day, but Sara and Neal (mostly Sara) had the situation under control.
And why was Neal in her apartment, anyway? Oh yes, Kate.
Music Box Mystery
Mozzie and Neal managed to sneak into the hangar storing the plane that blew up while Kate was on it. Neal’s face and even his body language as he first took it all in was just devastating.
He recovered in time to convince the FAA guard to send him a copy of the plane’s black box – courtesy of Sara Ellis. They mailed her a copy, but when she was supposedly dead, her mail piled up on her office desk while she bunked at the FB I office. To get the recording, Neal offered her a ride home after Halbridge was arrested, knowing she’d want to stop at her office to pick up her mail. (“She’s a workaholic and everybody likes mail.”)
Somehow, though, in all the excitement of foiling Mr. Black and flirting with Sara, Neal couldn’t quite manage to lift the envelope. I’m not sure I buy that, considering he took Halbridge’s guard’s gun earlier in the episode and Peter’s fancy pen in the last episode. If there’s someone who can lift an item, it’s Neal.
And yet, he left evidence of Kate’s murder in Sara Ellis’s apartment. Interesting . . .
All right, White Collar fans, what did you think about this episode? Do you think we’ve seen the last of Sara Ellis? Are you missing the new friendship between Mozzie and Peter yet? And how badly did you want to hug Neal when he saw that blown-up airplane?

SMALLVILLE’s Erica Durance on Knowing Clark’s Secret
August 13, 2010 by Marisa Roffman

For SMALLVILLE’s Erica Durance (Lois), season 10 is going to be big.
In the ninth season finale, Lois pieced together that the Blur is actually Clark. So, given that this is the final year of the show, where will the duo go from there?
“I’m a huge fan of the Lois-Clark relationship and how they’ve done it the years I’ve been there,” Durance says. “This year, the flip is that she knows his secret. She’s able to support him in that and understand that he doesn’t want to tell her yet, so she’s trying to be as patient as possible. So you see a little bit of fun there in how she tries and hides that she knows [the truth].”
But just how well is Lois going to succeed at keeping his secret? After all, she didn’t grow up in that secretive environment that he did.
“I think in true Lois fashion, she’ll probably end up blurting it out to him in some terrible aggressive way,” Durance says.
And what does she think of the end of the series and what else can we expect for Lois?
Take a look…

Are you excited to see what Lois will be up to in season 10?

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Man Nigel Lythgoe Talks Lauren, Ellen and If The All-Stars Will Be Back Next Season
August 13, 2010 by Korbi Ghosh
Filed under So You Think You Can Dance, SYTYCD
Surprised?! Why are so many people surprised that Lauren Froderman won SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE season 7? Sure, Kent is cute. And a fabulous dancer. And the little ladies love him. But the little ladies have been known to pick up the telephone for a kick ass girl contestant too.
Hello, Sabra? Jeanine?
In the video interview below, with SYTYCD judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, the reporter next to me begins by asking how surprised Lythgoe was that Lauren came out on top.
But, like me, Lythgoe says, he really wasn’t. In fact, he spills that Lauren got the most number of votes last week as well!
GO LO-FRO!
Still, it did take him some time to notice what a strong contender she was.
Watch below to find out exactly when Nigel feels Lauren’s turning point came, what he thinks about this season’s new all-star format and whether the show will be keeping said format in tact next summer.
Oh, and there might be some mention of superstar Ellen Degeneres and Lythgoe’s next gig. You know, he’s rejoining some show called AMERICAN IDOL or something…

Watch Ellen DeGeneres Dance with tWitch on the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Finale
August 13, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, Ellen DeGeneres, So You Think You Can Dance, SYTYCD, TV News, Twitch
Ellen DeGeneres’ “surprise” appearance on the SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE finale might have been the worst kept secret of the night — heck, even Ellen tweeted that she was going to do something special for injured dancer Alex Wong — but it was so worth it.
As fans of her syndicated series THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW know, the girl can dance. She dances daily for her studio audience and even performed a routine with the season 5 SYTYCD contestants for her last season premiere.
But the routine she tackled last night? Insane. This hip-hop number with tWitch was what cemented Alex’s status as being one of the best dancers SYTYCD had ever seen. So for Ellen to take it on with her own little spin? Insanely brave.
Did you miss it? Take a look…

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Season 7 Winner Lauren Froderman Celebrates Backstage with Give Me My Remote

What happens backstage after a SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE finale?
And why is season 7 winner Lauren Froderman the cutest girl ever?
Watch the video below and you’ll see.
She’s just won $250,000 and the coveted title of America’s favorite dancer, but she’s still the same sweet down-to-earth doll who — by the way — has been my pick since DAY. ONE.
Not to brag, but I recognized Lauren’s bright shine way back in May when her first audition aired. She just blew me away doing her wholesome stripper thing — strong, yet still sexy with full control of her body. Lo Fro is SICK, yo.
But yeah, take a look-see at what went on after the finale, as the judges and contestants talked to the press and to each other.
I was lucky enough to capture some special moments between executive producer Nigel Lythgoe as he congratulated Lauren, she thanked him and then came over to tell us what she’s going to do with her prize money, who she thought was going to win and what’s next…
Love her.
You cool with Lauren winning season 7?
Or were you pulling for someone else?

No Situation For BONES

Less than a week after The Situation told GIVE ME MY REMOTE that he would appear on the upcoming JERSEY SHORE-themed episode of BONES “if the right offer comes around,” FOX confirmed that he won’t be in the hour after all.
Speaking to EW.com — who first reported that negotiations had broken down between the two parties — BONES executive producer Stephen Nathan explained that contracts got in the way of The Situation’s possible guest role. “There were so many contractual difficulties with MTV that it just became an impossibility,” Nathan said.
BONES has already recast the role The Situation was set to play with an up-and-coming actor.
Are you relieved BONES fans? Or were you secretly hoping The Situation would guest on your show?

CASTLE’s Molly Quinn on Getting a TV Boyfriend and Gaining Some Independence
August 12, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
Filed under #1 featured, Castle, TV News
CASTLE’s Alexis is growing up.
In addition to spending her summer away from home, Alexis will soon be getting an older boyfriend — TV Guide Magazine is reporting that THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER’s Ken Baumann (Ben) has been cast in the role — and you can just imagine how well her father will take this news.
But seeing as she really is the most grown-up person in the Castle household, her pops should know that she’ll probably handle the relationship better than most adults would. And even if not, shouldn’t she be allowed to act like a child for once?
“I wouldn’t think that she would be acting like a child — even though it is a good point,” Molly Quinn (Alexis) says. “I could see it more as she’s dating someone older and she knows that her father won’t be able to handle that and he won’t act rationally. So I think she’s learning how to communicate with her dad more. She can’t just throw something at [him].”
And what about that serious father-daughter chat that executive producer Laurie Zaks said would occur in the season premiere?
Take a look for Quinn’s take on that…

P.S. How adorable is it that Quinn actually dressed up in a STAR TREK costume for her CASTLE panel?

Lauren, Kent or Robert: Who Will Win SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Season 7?

Who will win SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE season 7?
We at GIVE ME MY REMOTE have absolutely no idea.
Like judge and executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, we’d be cool with any one of the three finalists — Lauren, Kent or Robert — taking it.
In fact, yours truly highlighted all three of these dancers during the audition phase of the competition. There’s something very special about their talents.
Still, I was a little disappointed by yesterday’s finale.
There were a few standout performances, but nothing that really made me SCREAM, Mary Murphy-style.
Take a look-see…
Fact.
What did you think of the finale performances?
And which kid would you like to see win tonight?

FRINGE Producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman Talk Balance in Season 3
August 11, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
FRINGE ended their second season with a heartbreaking separation — but a whole lot of possibilities.
With our Olivia trapped in the alternate universe, season 3 will start off with screen time split between the two worlds.
And while some writers would be focusing their attention on exploring the second universe and the characters over there — it is new and exciting, after all — executive producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman say that what excites them the most is a chance to explore that arena thoroughly through the eyes of a character we already know and love.
“I think that for us, our hero characters are the first three we met — Peter, Olivia, Walter,” Pinkner shares in the video interview below. “And at the end of last season, we left Olivia in the other side. So we have a point of view character to explore the other side…Going over there is really telling the story that we’re compelled to tell. And Alt-Olivia, Alt-Broyles, Alt-Astrid, they’re really in relation to the characters that we love. So, we’re telling their story — and we intend to and we know their story and its a question of how fast we tell it — but for us, it’s only season 3. So to us, the mothership is still the shiny new toy.”
Awesome.
Still, had to ask, is there really only one alternate universe for their “shiny new toy” to compete with?
Pinkner and Wyman have an interesting take on that question. See for yourself…
