Summer Glau’s ‘Firefly’ Reunion on CHUCK

Whednonites have hit geek paydirt!

FIREFLY’s River Tam and Jayne Cobb will be reunited on the small screen when Summer Glau guests later this season on CHUCK.

Glau will play Greta, the name given to rotating undercover CIA operatives working at the Buy More. She’ll appear in the show’s eight episode.

We don’t know much about the circumstances Glau’s Greta will find herself in,  but CHUCK Executive Producer Chris Fedak told GIVE ME MY REMOTE  exclusively that “[Glau’s] stint as a Greta will be a bumpy one and, for us Firefly fans, she’ll definitely cross paths with one John Casey.”

That’s what we wanted to hear!

Glau and CHUCK star Adam Baldwin co-starred on the short-lived, but much loved, Joss Whedon series FIREFLY.  The two later paired up on the big screen in SERENITY, the film continuation of the series.

GMMR had our first hint of Glau joining the show when we sat down with Fedak in his Warner Bros offices a few weeks ago.  When we asked about his guest star wish list for this season he said, “Anyone from the comedy world or the action/genre world.  The sci-fi people…the Summer Glaus of the world. That’s our show, it’s a mash up of geek and comedy.”

Who knew just a few weeks later, we’d be confirming the news.

Just one more bit of trivia for you.  Summer Glau’s most recent TV role was that of Cameron in Fox’s TERMINATOR: THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES. The show was a spin-off of the “Terminator” movie series.  And we all know who originated the role of Sarah Connor in the film series, right? That would be Linda Hamilton, the same actress who plays Mary Bartowski, Chuck’s mom on this season of CHUCK.

What a fantastic little geeky world we all live in.
