Good morning my friends! Happy Wednesday to you. A lot of great TV tonight, although I’m not sure any show on this evening could be as amazing as watching these Chilean miners being rescued. Riveting stuff! I can’t tear myself away!

Here’s to hoping all the men are safely rescued by the time SURVIVOR starts tonight. (Makes that little island show seem a bit trite now, doesn’t it?)

Here are a few highlights from this Wednesday TV lineup…

The Middle | 8pm on ABC
“The Quarry
Axl is suspended for truancy, and Mike makes him work in the quarry during the suspension to teach him a lesson. But the plan backfires when Axl likes the job and wants to quit school to work at the quarry full time.

Survivor: Nicaragua | 8pm on CBS
“Turf Wars”
The newly formed tribes struggle to find their footing; a castaway reaches an emotional low; relentless storms batter the coast.

Undercovers | 8pm on NBC
“Jailbreak”
When an important CIA hard drive goes missing, Steven and Samantha must go to Ireland to search for a prisoner who holds the key to its location; Lizzy invests time and money in the catering business. [GMMR: Is anyone watching this show? I haven’t bee hearing anything about it.] Read more

GLEE: Did This Week’s GLEE ‘Duet’ For You?

“Happy days are here again
The skies above are clear again
So let’s sing a song of cheer again
Happy days are here again.”

Ok now THIS is how GLEE should be every week!

✓ Great music.

✓ Witty dialogue.

✓ An underlying theme that wasn’t forced.

✓ Sweet and emotional moments.

✓ Did I mention the great music?!

Can I get an ‘Amen’? Um, no seriously…someone join me with an ‘Amen.’ People, it’s duets week. Don’t leave me hanging. I want to go to Breadsticks!

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER: ‘Subway Wars’

October 12, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, HIMYM, How I Met Your Mother

So, what did we learn from last night’s HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER in which the gang faced off in a race to see Woody Allen, to prove who is the best New Yorker amongst them?

We learned that Lily and Marshall are having some trouble getting pregnant. I mean, it’s only been two months since they started trying — which is not a long time — but they’re both starting to worry.

And Robin’s having a tough time at work, with this annoying co-anchor chick who’s totally stealing her spotlight, and she’s still dealing with residual sadness/anger from her break up with Don, who ditched her for Chicago.

And Ted and Barney, well, they’re doing just fine — Ted with his boringness and Barney with his awesomeness — but the Lily/Marshall/Robin stories? Totally relatable, no?

To me, HIMYM is always at its best when its telling tales of things that its audience is going through or has gone through. The relatable stories coupled with the show’s humor is a winning formula for MOTHER and this week’s episode delivered that… and by humor, I’m of course talking first and foremost about ‘Marshall vs. the Machines’ which served as the soundtrack to Mr. Eriksen’s race to see Woody… a race he would eventually lose when he and Lily crossed paths and opened up to each other about their mutual fertility fears.

Robin was ultimately the winner of said race, but only because Barney — whom she called out for sucking as a friend earlier in the ep — pretended to fall and tripped Ted as they headed toward the finish line.

Why?

Because he obviously still cares for her and they’re totally going to end up together. Am I right, people?!

Talk to me…

Did you dig this episode?

GLEE’s Chord Overstreet on His Dream Love Interest

October 12, 2010 by

For a while there, rumors ran rampant that Chord Overstreet had been cast on GLEE as Kurt’s new love interest.

It now appears, however, that that won’t be the case — and Overstreet tells Give Me My Remote that he has a certain blonde in mind to turn Sam’s head.

So which lucky girl is it?

Take a look…

CHUCK: Chuck Versus the Coup d’Etat’ and the Return of the Angel De La Muerte

October 12, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Chuck, Chuck Recaps

Am I the only one that daydreams about being able to walk into the writers room of my favorite shows and air my grievances in the hopes that they will listen and my shows will be better off for it? I wouldn’t be so arrogant to think that I could do better than any of the CHUCK writers (I couldn’t – not by a long shot), but I’d love a shot at perhaps bringing in an outside perspective. I fear the writers are getting caught up in the same story elements every week and the show is suffering.

It’s probably a good idea to let you know up front that I didn’t hate “Chuck Versus the Coup d’Etat”. While I’ve been enthusiastic about some episodes more than others, I don’t think I can say that I’ve ever hated an episode of CHUCK. It’s just not possible. Zachary Levi is too damn charming for me to not find something I loved. In fact, given my affection for the show, I try to make excuses for it from time to time. But when certain elements aren’t working for me, then I have to say that too. And I will, don’t you worry. But first can we talk about the awesomeness of John Casey?

Enrico Colantoni to Guest on BONES

Papa Mars is coming to BONES!

Show creator Hart Hanson was first to break the news, tweeting this morning, “Enrico Colantoni on Stage 6 today. I cannot convey how much joy and satisfaction that fact brings me. Rico! It’s been too long.”

Fox has confirmed to Give Me My Remote that Colantoni will be playing a Jeffersonian security guard in the 8th episode of this season. And yes, this 8th episode is the highly anticipated, very important, Brennan POV hour.

I’m super stoked about this casting. You?

CASTLE Post-Episode Chat: ‘Punked’

October 11, 2010 by

Tonight brings us an all-new episode of CASTLE and, quite frankly, we’re a little excited.

A 200-year-old bullet leads Castle to believe that time travel is part of this evening’s case. Oh yes, our favorite novelist will be amped up about it.

Something he won’t be so amped on? Alexis dating. Castle’s little girl is growing up…

So, yes, we’ll have much to discuss after tonight’s hour airs. Make sure you set a reminder below to join our chat at 11 PM EDT/PDT (yes, we’ll be hosting a chat for both coasts)! Lots to talk about…

See you this evening!

Tonight’s episode of CHUCK finds Sarah, Chuck, Ellie and Awesome reconnecting with Premier Goya in Costa Gravas, and it’s shaping up to be pretty epic.

Give Me My Remote was lucky enough to be on set when they were filming some of the hour. While we can’t tell you what we saw, we did score a few minutes with CHUCK star Ryan McPartlin and got his take on Awesome becoming a dad, that huge statue built in his honor and more…

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE: GLEE & Gilly = Awesome!

October 10, 2010 by
Filed under Glee, Saturday Night Live, SNL

Last night Jane Lynch once again put on her famous red track suit and tortured the McKinley High New Directions Glee Club. But this time it was during a hilarious skit on SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.

Sue Sylvester, the diabolical evil genius that she is, recruited a new member to help her take down the Glee Club once and for all — Gilly!

I’m hoping this isn’t the last GLEE skit we see on SNL. That was pretty funny!

(Is it just me or did Kenan Thomson make a great Mercedes?)

SUPERNATURAL: The Third Man

October 9, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Posts by Nicole, Supernatural

Wow – I know that the first two episodes were necessary in order to address last year’s SUPERNATURAL finale and set up season 6, but last night’s episode would have made a great season premiere. Lots of action, mythology, humor and of course, partial nudity. It was easily the strongest episode of the three we’ve seen to date, and if I had any doubts about how the season was going to progress before last night, they’re gone now.

Things were promising from the cold open, which featured one of the grossest deaths ever when a cop’s entire body disintegrated into blood (it was very reminiscent of the vampire “true death” on True Blood, no? Sadly, nobody’s going to be carrying this guy around in a glass urn). This was quickly followed by the death of a second officer, with a case of boils so extreme that they blocked his airways, suffocating him. Hopefully nobody chose to eat dinner while watching the show (but you know better than that by now, don’t you?).

SMALLVILLE: Supergirl

Comments Off on SMALLVILLE: Supergirl

What up Smallville fans! “Wow” is all I can say about Lois in the dominatrix get up, and I am sad that it forced me to put my cookies down! What about this week’s villain, who felt like he was straight from an episode of Supernatural taking over Gordon Godfrey! In addition, Supergirl returned to help Clark attempt to fly, and to fulfill a mission from Jor-El. Focusing mainly on Smallville’s three resident superheroes and Lois, let’s talk about this week’s highlights!

Kara’s return to earth was not exactly a heartfelt reunion at first, and did not play out the way I expected. I was looking for a little more action when it came to Clark and the whole flying thing. Instead Kara, played by Laura Vandervoort of ABC’s V, spent most of her time parading around Metropolis, landing smack dab in the middle of an anti superhero rally. It was odd to see her involved in photo shoots and showing her face proudly grabbing a billboard in mid air that almost wiped out a group of Blur haters. The upside, however, was what this chain of events did for Lois and Clark’s relationship.
