DEXTER Renewed For Sixth Season
December 6, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
Well, this is certainly a good way to start off the week: Showtime has officially renewed DEXTER for a sixth season.
“DEXTER is the best suspense drama on television,” said David Nevins, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks in a statement. “To grow its audience so significantly in its fifth season is an enormous accomplishment by this amazing cast and crew. This is the easiest decision I’ve made since I got to Showtime.”
Production for the new season will begin in the spring.

HELLZ YEAH!!! Dexter is incredible, I can’t believe how good this season has been, I was seriously worried when they offed Rita that the heart would drain out of the show, but the addition of Julia Stiles was brilliant, Lumen is a revelation. If you could just delete the third season this show would have a 100% perfection record.
BUT even though I did manage to get over Rita, if they kill Deb or Lumen next week, I don’t know if I’ll be able to swallow it. Hopefully because people are kind of expecting the big death now it wont happen. I really, really, really hope Lumen will be a full time cast member next year, she’s doing an incredible job of humanising Dexter super quick, he’s showing more emotion, (I don’t think I’ve ever seen him look so guilty before! How is nobody noticing?!)
Dexter is my guilty pleasure. I think this is the only series I have seen where the hero of the story isn’t a hero at all. It’s like I want to root for him but can’t because, well, I’m human!
Add in the writing of Deb and JC’s portrayal of that charcter, it is no wonder this series is such a success.
