It’s like a mix of the predictably and the completely left field – Piper Perabo? In that category? Really? Gosh. Lea Michele looks similarly out of her depth. But those crazy foreign press people are interesting folk. And they did, once upon a time give a statue to Keri Russell and Jennifer Garner mid way into both of their first seasons of Felicity and Alias. Oh well.

Also….as an Aussie, why are their no Aussie journalists represented in the HFP? Weird, weird awards but I will still be watching.

    *I meant “predictable” ugh

But yay for Katey Sagel…she’s awesome.

Disappointed there’s no FNL but that’s predictable at this point in time.

MAD MEN MAD MEN! Three Golden Globes to them for Jon Hamm, Lizzie Moss and Best Drama! I’m kinda over the Glee acting nominations other than Kurt and Burt. I’d rather see James Roday than Matthew Morrison! What!

I saw your tweet about The Walking Dead.

If you have not watched this show, you are missing out. It is fantastically written; an emotional roller coaster for the characters in their end of days predicament.

I am sad to see The Pacific with only one nod, and no love whatsoever for Rubicon.

I don’t doubt that The Walking Dead is a fantastic show, but to beat out so many other dramas after airing just a limited number of episodes. Seems fishy to me. As you mentioned, no Rubicon, no Pacific, no Breaking Bad, no Fringe (ok it was a long shot).

I’m thinking a lot of The Walking Dead nomination has to do with timing. It just ended its 6 episode run and Breaking Bad ended in June. What I’m really confused about, is how can Aaron Paul go from winning an Emmy to not even being nominated for the same work? Aren’t the GG just a low rent version of the Emmys? Very odd to me. The awards for the movie categories are hilariously bizarre.

I’m putting this everywhere I can until I get an explanation… but Piper Perabo is nominated in the DRAMATIC category? What? I mean, don’t get me wrong… I enjoy Covert Affairs in a guilty pleasure kind of way, not in a riveting TV Wow she does amazing work kind of way! Really, she is the weakest link of all the actors on that show and SHE’S the one that gets nominated?!? I don’t get it. If we’re choosing from USA shows, how about Mary McCormick or Matt Bomer? Hell, I would even give you Dule Hill in a supporting category, but really? Piper Perabo? This makes my head hurt.

  8. Patty on December 14th, 2010 12:19 pm

Piper Perabo makes my head hurt too.

Along with the cast of Glee (except for Chris Colfer)

I hope that Julia Styles beats Jane Lynch in the supporting category. I don’t watch Dexter (maybe someday) but I hear she was really good.

Ok, and Scott Caan for H50? Don’t get me wrong he is my favorite part of that show but a GG? Not that I think he has a chance in hell of winning.

  9. Patty on December 14th, 2010 12:25 pm

(insert disgusted noise here) and Thomas Jane for Hung? Really?

All I can say is that everyone better look dazzling come GG night!

I love me some Covert Affairs, and even I’m confused by the Piper Perabo nod. Just on USA, I think Gorham, Bomer, DeKay, Roday, and Hill are all stronger than she is, but they are all dudes. She is really the only female lead (besides In Plain Sight, right? I don’t watch that show) on USA, so maybe there are just very few female lead actress nominations in drama?

  11. Kali on December 14th, 2010 12:35 pm

Piper Perabo? Seriously? Have they even watched her in Covert Affairs?

Where is Anna Torv? John Noble?
I would love to know on what grounds people and shows are nominated…

  12. DS on December 14th, 2010 2:22 pm

Walking Dead is so overrated. Only the premise(Zombies) is interesting. Everything else(Writing etc.) is subpar and people are “raving” about it. There are great picks but mostly terrible ones. I’m a foreigner and I am terribly embarrassed that my fellow foreigners just FAIL at these picks. The only acceptable list I see is the actors. Don’t personally like Michael C Hall’s portrayal of Dexter Morgan but I get why some people do I guess?

  13. Robyn on December 14th, 2010 2:37 pm

Wait. What? Piper Perabo got a nomination? I love the escapism of Covert Affairs and the light-hearted feel to it but to get a nod for that seems a little ridiculous.

Emily Deschanel’s performance this entire season of Bones has been beyond fantastic, proving her range and depth as an actress. Same can be said for Anna Torv portraying 2 characters so similar yet so apart. Katy Segall I can definitely agree with and Kyra Sedgewick too but overlooking the above two and others like Mary McCormack (In Plain Sight) to Lauren Graham (Parenthood) to Chandra Wilson (Grey’s Anatomy) who week in and week out deliver stellar performances.

There is such injustices, it hurts my head

  14. peek on December 14th, 2010 7:03 pm

John Noble! Anna Torv! Where are they? This is a joke.

  15. cortexifan on December 14th, 2010 9:06 pm

There is no Fringe, Anna Torv or John Noble.
    Who makes the choices anyway?

  16. Adele on December 15th, 2010 7:13 am

The HFPA is made up of less than 100 journalists so it doesn’t take much to be the majority vote.
