BONES: Michaela Conlin Teases an Upcoming Hodgela Development

As some BONES fans have noticed, things have been a little different this season. The addition of Hannah as Booth’s girlfriend means that characters like Angela, Cam and Hodgins are more often in the background than some fans would like.

But rest assured, when I chatted with the always delightful Michaela Conlin (Angela), she said that things will start to pick up soon, starting with Thursday’s all new episode.

PSYCH Preview: ‘Extradition II’

PSYCH is back!

Finally, our Wednesday nights will be filled with delicious flavor, once again.

In the mid-season premiere, “Extradition II,” Shawn and Gus make their way back to Vancouver at the request of Despereaux (Cary Elwes). GLEE: ‘Never Been Kissed’

Ah…the beauty of time and reflection.  Last night when I turned off my TV at the end of GLEE I was all kinds of fired up. I had such a visceral reaction to the episode that I immediately grabbed my laptop and starting furiously ripping it to shreds. Then I decided to stop…for a few reasons.  The first being that I needed to remind myself that GLEE is a TV show and while I’m passionate about television, I’m not sure that I want it to have that much control over my emotions.

My momentary respite also helped me realize that, to some extent, I made my peace with GLEE near the end of last season. In order for me watch GLEE from week to week, I had to learn to compartmentalize the show.  By doing so, I gave myself permission to enjoy aspects of the series despite its often glaring missteps and shortcomings. If I were forced to judge GLEE strictly through a critical lens each week, I’m not sure I would I derive much joy from it at all. If I got to that point, I’m not sure there would be any reason to watch. So I try to judge each episode of GLEE based on its overall entertainment factor.  Did it make me laugh? Cry? Want to run to iTunes and download all the songs so I can sing them at the top of my lungs the next morning in my car?

Conan Returns To TV with GLEE’s Lea Michele

The man, the myth, the red-haired legend, Mr. Conan O’Brien, made his return to television last night with the debut of his new TBS talk show, CONAN, and GLEE star Lea Michele stopped by to help him celebrate.

She giggled a lot, seemed like she was happy to be there, and talked about the recent GQ photo shoot that started a bit of controversy with its sexy pics of her.

I’m assuming the GQ business probably influenced her fashion choice last night: a not so flattering dress that even covers her collar bone, but whatevs…

HOUSE: Office Politics

As a longtime devotee of TV shows that perished too soon, I empathize with fans of JOAN OF ARCADIA. The critically heralded CBS drama produced just 45 episodes before its cancellation in 2005, leaving behind a loyal audience of viewers who embraced the idea that a teenage girl could communicate directly with God. Though the premise of the show appeared to stretch the limits of one’s imagination, this week’s HOUSE helped me understand why fans of Joan Girardi were so disappointed to see her story end. Amber Tamblyn, the brilliant actress who brought Joan to life, joined the team at Princeton Plainsboro with a performance that knocked everyone, including Hugh Laurie, off the screen.

The role of Martha M. Masters could have easily been another roadblock in the uneven 7th season of HOUSE. Idealism often comes across as self-righteousness on television. Even an experienced, capable actress would be hard-pressed to inject humanity into a character centered around doing the right thing, each and every time she is pressed to act. Clearly, Ms. Tamblyn is beyond capable, as I bought into every shrug, quizzical look, and frustrated whimper that she exclaimed. Instead of serving as an annoying do-gooder, running around the hospital shouting down bad behavior, Martha stands her ground by using logic to test her new colleagues in a respectful manner. And no one buys into her methods more than the most morally ambiguous member of the staff, Dr. House himself!

GLEE: Mark Salling Tells Us If Puck Wants Quinn… And What About Rachel?

GLEE fans have not seen Mark Salling for a few weeks now since Puck has been M.I.A., but he returns to the show this week and, in honor of the occasion, GIVE ME MY REMOTE got some quality time with him.

He messes with us (and our camera) a bit, but when the subject of Puck and Quinn is raised, Salling gets serious. Does Puck want to be with Quinn, even though she’s not carrying his child anymore?

We get an honest, thoughtful, straightforward answer from the actor and he weighs in on whether the pairing of Puck and Rachel is a thing of the past or a future possibility too…

IN TREATMENT: Irrfan Khan on Sunil, Working with Gabriel Byrne and What’s Next

Whether you’ve been watching this season of IN TREATMENT or not, Irrfan Khan is a face that you may already recognize from his work in films like SLUMDOG MILLIONAIRE and THE DARJEELING LIMITED.

Though the Indian actor has been in just a handful of American movies, he has an extensive body of Bollywood work and Hollywood is taking notice.

Currently appearing on HBO’s IN TREATMENT as Sunil — a recent widower whose son has moved him from Calcutta to Brooklyn, where he lives with his American wife and children — Khan has captured our attention as the secretive past of his character is slowly but surely revealed in the office of Dr. Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne).

Khan was not familiar with IN TREATMENT before executive producer Dan Futterman, a friend of his, asked if he’d be interested in playing a patient on the third season of the show. Just as his character explains in the first episode, Khan says therapy is a social taboo in India: “We don’t have therapists in our lives. You only go to therapy if a person is really out of control, mentally sick and he is unable to manage. We don’t go to solve our problems or [life] crises… That’s why [Sunil] is so offended in the first episode when he’s taken to a therapist. It’s like he’s being told that he is sick, that’s how he is taking it: ‘Am I a mad person?'”

Still, Khan thinks the Indian audience would enjoy the drama of IN TREATMENT. “It’s just a very special show. The way they shoot it, it’s so simple, they don’t take any liberties with time or space,” he explains.

Indeed, it’s essentially just a couple people in a room, talking to each other. And during Sunil’s second visit, he does begin to share with Dr. Paul Weston. Khan discusses…
