New FRINGE Promo Promises to Re-Animate Friday Nights
December 15, 2010 by Marisa Roffman
FRINGE fans, Fox knows your fears.
They’ve heard your cries about moving the beloved cult series to Friday nights, they’re well aware that you think it’s a death sentence. And to be fair, fans do have recent history on their side — shows airing at the end of the week are often not long for this world. However, Fox has released a new promo to show that, despite what you might think, they aren’t hanging FRINGE out to dry — they actually want the show to thrive.
The minute-long promo starts off with dramatic music, coupled with FRINGE characters talking about death and obituaries, while television critics’ words of doom flash across the screen. All dark and dreary, right? Nah.
“You may think Friday night is dead…but we’re going to re-animate it,” the promo promises, before bouncing to some of FRINGE’s best moments and a few upcoming scenes.
No, seriously, this might be the best promo ever.
Yes, they’re being meta about their move to Fridays — something I was really worried about when I heard that the next new episode is titled “Firefly” — but this is different. Fox is acknowledging that they know what the perceptions about this move are, but they still think it will work. Much like executive producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman said, this move is intended to be a positive thing.
Check it out for yourself…
Amazing, right?!

Welcome to Wednesday! Are you excited for a little TV tonight? I am… even though most of our midweek favorites are out of commission.
Check out the highlights that are on tap in tonight’s lineup…
What will YOU be watching?
The Sing-Off | 8pm on NBC
“5 Groups Left”
The five remaining groups come together for a performance; each group sings a medley of songs by a single artist; the judges choose the contestants’ next assignment. [GMMR: Sorry I haven’t written much about this show, but I am loving it. I’m all about ‘Committed’ and ‘Street Corner Symphony’, but the remaining groups are all strong in their own ways.]
Human Target | 8pm on Fox
“Dead Head”
Chance and the team try to help a man with retrograde amnesia determine his identity and figure out why someone wants to kill him..
Survivor: Nicaragua | 8pm on CBS
“This is Going to Hurt”
After the six remaining castaways receive a special visit from home, an alliance faces a difficult decision. [GMMR: Really disappointed that NaOnka is gone. It would have been amazing to meet someone who actively chooses to spend time with that girl.]

There are only two episodes of LIFE UNEXPECTED left and, quite frankly, that breaks our heart a little.
Yes, we understand the reality of the ratings business. But really, when was the last time The CW aired a show so darn lovable?
In honor of the series, LUX creator Liz Tigelaar and stars Shiri Appleby (Cate) and Kristoffer Polaha (Baze) participated in IBG’s Conversation event — a benefit for Portland’s Boys & Girls Aid — this weekend. Tick, tick, tick.
DEXTER fans, year five is now officially over and yet, it feels like the season just started.
And while this Sunday’s finale didn’t pack quite the punch that last season’s epic hour did — though, to be fair, that was one of the most shocking television finales ever — tons of stuff went down, which should propel us nicely into the recently announced season six.
But let’s talk about what happened last night, shall we?
