SMALLVILLE: Icarus

How’s it shaking Smallville fans?! Can you believe the first half of the season is already over? That went too fast, didn’t it? Although Smallville won’t be returning until next year, show runners sent us out with a bang in last night’s episode entitled Icarus.

On board this latest hour of Superman, was Star Girl and Hawkman, out to help Clark and Oliver (CK’s best man!), after civilians of Metropolis start cropping up with darkness tattoos. All the while Lois Is held hostage by an immortal Slade, who was suppose to have bitten the dust after the accident. We knew that was coming!

What I didn’t expect to see was Lois and Clark engaged just yet, but it finally happened! Making it impossible for him, Lois insists they go home to relax since the city wide curfew is making her on edge. Instead of giving up, Clark improvises, trading in his table for two at a swanky restaurant. What a scene! Rose petals floating through the air and a big fat engagement ring! It didn’t take Lois long to accept.

SUPERNATURAL: Appointment in Samara

Hey SUPERNATURAL fans! Please forgive my absence for the last two episodes, which were great incidentally (Cas kissed a girl!). I’ve said it before but I’m constantly amazing myself this season with how fresh the show still feels and how much I’m enjoying the new directions it’s taking. Well, maybe not so much with Crowley’s death – I really liked Crowley. But you never know with this show; he could turn up again. Last night was the last episode leading into the holiday break (if you can attribute a six week break to the holidays) and it certainly ended with a bang. But we’ll get to that.

Dean had a meeting with the always-excellent Robert Englund, or Dr. Robert as he’s known here. He’s an old friend of John’s, someone who used to stitch up Papa Winchester back in the day (*sigh*, am I crazy in my continuing hope that we’ll one day see JDM grace the SPN screen again?). Dean was undergoing a procedure in which he’s injected with something that kills him for three minutes, so he can get a meeting with Death.

BONES: Carla Kettner Talks Writing ‘The Doctor in the Photo,’ Brennan, Booth and Micah

BONES fans, how intense was “The Doctor in the Photo”?

The best episode of the season thus far, right?

Emily Deschanel’s amazing performance as Brennan spiraling out of control coupled with Carla Kettner’s fantastic script and Ian Toynton’s unique direction made for one heck of an unforgettable hour.

In fact, I was so impressed by the episode, I sought Kettner out to chat about how the Brennan-centric hour came to be, whether Micah was real, the very important car scene in which Brennan revealed her big regret and much more…

COMMUNITY: ‘Abed’s Uncontrollable Christmas’

December 10, 2010 by

Dear Santa, For Christmas I would like the following things: a brand new slingbox, a kitten to cuddle with, for GLEE to stop being so inconsistent, and an Abed of my very own.

My love for Abed Nadir knows no bounds. Of all my TV boyfriends—and, oh, there are many—Abed tops the list every time. He’s sweet, observant, awkward, and a veritable encyclopedia of all things pop culture. In other words, my soul mate. Not to mention the fact that he stars in a show that consistently steals the title of My Favorite Series Currently on the Air from other greatly entertaining contenders like BONES, MAD MEN, and GLEE. That’s some tough competition, my friends.

FRINGE: ‘Marionette’

December 10, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Fringe, Fringe Recap

Though last week’s FRINGE episode “Entrada” brought the culmination of storylines, action and some big revelations, “Marionette” was just as major in a more emotional way.

Olivia is back home, people! Not only is she back home, but Peter proved once again that, despite his past, he is a good guy.

But that case? Creepy. Anyone get the sense that the surgeon who was stealing organs watched a little too much DEXTER? All that plastic…but I suppose it was nice the FRINGE baddie didn’t kill his victims.

However, he did make his zombie marionette girlfriend dance, so I’m not letting him off the creep hook anytime soon.

Blech.

Anyway, let’s get into more detail about why this episode was so amazing…

BONES: ‘The Doctor in the Photo’

December 9, 2010 by

Hello friends, I’m glad you’re here. We have a lot to talk about. Though there was a case in this episode, BONES strayed slightly from its formula, and I’m going to do the same here. I’ve only once ever not used the “Case > Squints > Booth & Brennan” format; that was with “Con Man in the Meth Lab” in season four. After that episode, we just talked, and that’s what I want to do here again.

Here at Give Me My Remote, we write because we love TV and the shows we talk about. I don’t get paid to write about BONES week after week, and I wasn’t assigned the show as some beat reporter on a staff. I write because I love. Simple as that. I love BONES. And I want to prove it to you…I want to prove why, even when my heart is breaking, I still love it.

Comments Off on NIKITA Preview: ‘All The Way’

NIKITA takes things to a whole new level in tonight’s fresh episode of the fem action series.

Alex is tasked with pulling off her first kill and failure is not an option — it’s either kill or be killed.

There will be some huge story progress as secrets are revealed, some major butt-kicking goes down, and the players are reminded that every action has its consequences.

Take a look at the preview and a scene from tonight’s excellent hour, which for me, is the best episode of the series to date…

BONES Preview: Emily Deschanel Talks ‘The Doctor in the Photo’

BONES fans, tonight’s brand new episode, “The Doctor in the Photo,” is a biggie.

Give Me My Remote has already teased the hour, but be honest — you’d rather hear what’s going down straight from Emily Deschanel (Brennan), no? (We don’t blame you.)

Deschanel called the episode “different,” “strange” and “one of her favorite scripts,” but what did she say about what’s actually happening?

MODERN FAMILY: Dance Dance Revelation

December 9, 2010 by

Well, MODERN FAMILY fans, what did we think of this week’s episode? There was a lot going on so let’s get to it!

It’s Manny and Luke’s first dance and of course Claire is there to micro-manage everything. Gloria is the co-chair and Claire won’t let her do anything. When Gloria decides they need to move the arrangement of the tables, Claire loses it. In retaliation, she makes Gloria climb under the stage in the gym to get more chairs. At the dance, they have a fight that ends with Claire crying in the bathroom with a drink spilled on her. Gloria goes to comfort her and tells her that the reason she volunteers is because she wants the other moms to see there is more to her than being hot and having big boobies. Things are resolved between them when Claire says she shouldn’t have made it into a competition and reveals she has stuffed her bra.

TOP CHEF: ALL STARS Make Kiddie Food for Joe Jonas. Wait, What?

December 9, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, Top Chef

Now that the first elimination is out of the way, the remaining cheftestants are simultaneously relieved and on-edge. They survived one challenge, and are just glad to not be in last place. But if it wasn’t apparent that this competition is tough, it sure is now that someone has actually been sent packing.

The quickfire challenge has teen heartthrob Joe Jonas serving as judge. Youthful Spike knows who Joe Jonas is. Antonia has a young daughter, so she knows who Joe Jonas is. Dale T. does not know who Joe Jonas is, and thinks he might be a pastry chef. Hah.

The challenge is to create a midnight snack for a children’s sleepover at the American Museum of Natural History. Chefs always hate cooking for kids because of their unsophisticated palettes. But if I didn’t know any better, I could’ve thought they were asked to cook for aliens the way they were complaining and scrambling for ideas.

FRINGE: Preview ‘Marionette,’ Plus a Schedule Update

Comments Off on FRINGE: Preview ‘Marionette,’ Plus a Schedule Update

Good news and bad news for FRINGE fans: Thursday brings a brand spankin’ episode of one of the best shows on television…but it’s also the last fresh hour we’ll get this year.

However, the series’ winter hiatus won’t be as long as fans initially thought.

Fox originally announced that FRINGE would be moving to Friday nights starting January 28th, a seven-week break between new episodes. But now comes word that the show will return a week earlier (January 21st) for six weeks of uninterrupted awesomeness. The fun begins with “Firefly,” featuring guest star Christopher Lloyd. (Yes,  you read that right — “Firefly” — Just like the beloved Joss Whedon series of the same name which died on Friday nights. Someone, somewhere has a wicked sense of humor.)
