Who Went Home on SURVIVOR?

December 1, 2010 by

I’m the first one to admit it. I wouldn’t last one night on SURVIVOR. Hell, I can’t sleep if there is a fly or a spider in my house.  But then again, I wouldn’t try out for the show in the first place. But thousands upon thousands do try out. Very few make it every season. Of those who do, each week someone who would rather be in the game than at home or on the jury is voted off the island. Needless to say, what went down tonight was kind of infuriating.

BONES: Stephen Nathan on the Booth-Brennan-Hannah Triangle

Love her or hate her, chances are if you’re a BONES fan, you have an opinion on Hannah.

Ever since she appeared on the scene earlier this season fans have had a, um, vocal reaction to Booth’s current girlfriend. And no, that reaction isn’t a surprise to the people behind BONES.

In part two of our chat with BONES executive producer Stephen Nathan (read part one here), we talked about the fan reaction to Hannah, the blossoming Brennan-Hannah friendship and what that means for the relationships between Booth & Hannah and Booth & Brennan.

Are You Ready for the Delicious TOP CHEF: ALL STARS?

December 1, 2010 by
Filed under Top Chef: All Stars

Tonight at 10pm is the premiere of TOP CHEF: ALL STARS, where fan favorites from past seasons (none of which are former winners) will be pitted against each other in what promises to be a lively battle of culinary badassness. There is no shortage of talent in this group, and if their previous appearances are any indication, we will be served plenty o’ drama.

It’s hard for me to even pick a winner. So many of them were my favorites. Elia, Casey, Jennifer, and Tiffany Derry were all my favorite women of their respective seasons. My heart broke a little when Tre was voted off too soon. Carla was pure joy to watch, and I wanted to be friends with her.

But I think I’ll be rooting for Richard Blais. He was consistently good, confident without being a douche, creative, and passionate about molecular gastronomy without it being overkill (i.e. Mr. Foam-everything Marcel).

I’m also excited to see how Spike does. He’s the only one whose food I’ve actually tasted – at Good Stuff Eatery in Washington, DC – and he makes a burger that leaves me speechless. He could probably use the ego boost, too (not.)

Speaking of egos, there’d better be a smack down between equally conceited Fabio and Angelo. And between Fabio’s thick accent and Angelo’s often unconventional behavior, there’s bound to be some misunderstanding. Arrogance and confusion. Delicious.

While PSYCH’s TWIN PEAKS homage is very much an episode which any fan of PSYCH will appreciate, there’s no denying that something extra special happened when seven former TWIN PEAKS actors reunited to play parts in the hour.

Give Me My Remote talked with PSYCH cast members Maggie Lawson, Timothy Omundson and Corbin Bernsen about their connection to TP, plus what it was like to witness a reunion 20 years in the making… Read more

Comments Off on Ray Wise, Sheryl Lee and Catherine Coulson on PSYCH’s Homage to TWIN PEAKS

When several members of TWIN PEAKS agreed to appear in the PSYCH homage, which airs this evening on USA, there was an added bonus: a reunion.

Yep, as it turns out, some of the cast hadn’t seen each other since TWIN PEAKS was canceled in 1991. So with the 20th anniversary of the cult series right around the corner, Sheryl Lee (Laura Palmer/Maddy Feguson), Catherine Coulson (The Log Lady), Robin Lively (Lana Budding Milford), Lenny von Dohen (Harold Smith), Ray Wise (Leland Palmer) and Dana Ashbrook (Bobby Briggs) happily came together once again for PSYCH’s love letter to the show.

Give Me My Remote chatted with Lee, Coulson and Wise — who is reprising his PSYCH role of Father Westley in the hour — at a Paley Center’s event honoring PSYCH and TWIN PEAKS.

It’s no secret that PSYCH star James Roday is an uber fan of TWIN PEAKS, but what about his costar, Dule Hill? Was he as obsessed with the 90s cult series?

It turns out, he wasn’t.

And while he’s since caught up on the show now, he knows that some PSYCH fans are in the same boat as he was before his TWIN PEAKS crash course. Even still, Hill is convinced all viewers will enjoy “Dual Spires,” PSYCH’s tribute to TWIN PEAKS, which airs this Wednesday.

How convinced is he? He’s willing to make an on-camera guarantee.

PSYCH’s James Roday on the Upcoming TWIN PEAKS Homage…Is BUFFY Next?

November 30, 2010 by

Fans of TWIN PEAKS will not want to miss this Wednesday’s brand new episode of PSYCH.

PSYCH star James Roday is a huge fan of the 90s cult classic and has been pondering a way to pay tribute to the show for years. He’s finally getting his chance with “Dual Spires” — an ep he co-wrote — which revolves around a murder in a small town and reunites many former TWIN PEAKS players including Sheryl Lee, better known to some as Laura Palmer, the girl wrapped in plastic.

Check out the video below to see Roday’s chat with Give Me My Remote at this week’s Paley Center event honoring both series. He discusses “Dual Spires,” the possibility of a PSYCH musical episode and why a vampire-themed hour might turn into a BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER homage… Read more

CHUCK: ‘Chuck Versus The Leftovers’

November 30, 2010 by

This week’s episode of CHUCK was aptly titled as it did feel somewhat like the leftover meals we all eat in the days after Thanksgiving. It was a mish-mash of stuff we’ve had before, and it didn’t taste as good as it did the first time. But it’s still leftovers from the best meal of the year, so it was still pretty good.

Mama Bartowski was back to her enigmatic ways, complete with a wide variety of facial expressions that were (a) trying to convey emotions; (b) trying to send signals to Chuck; or (c) evidence that Linda Hamilton has some weird facial ticks. As seems to be a pattern with Frost, she finds new and exciting ways to put her son in danger only to give him an out at the last minute. I know its a plot device to keep Chuck and his mother’s relationship complicated, but it feels a bit stale given how many times we’ve seen in play out already this season.

I’m not completely enamored with Linda Hamilton’s portrayal of Mary Bartowski, but if having her around means more screen time for Timothy Dalton then I’m not ready to hasta la vista her anytime soon. When the casting news broke for Dalton, I assumed he would have a small role in one or two episodes. Maybe someone would make a Bond joke and he’d be gone. But Dalton’s mini-arc as Volkoff has been one of the very best things about this season of CHUCK. This guy is one hell of an actor and embodies the essence of CHUCK. The way he can transform from stone cold killer in one minute, to goofy and mushy in the next is just perfect for this show. I can’t imagine that Dalton will be around past the show’s 13th episode, but I’m hoping the door will be left open for his return. Forget about Fulcrum or The Ring…I’m good with Volkoff being the Big Bad for the foreseeable future.

VAMPIRE DIARIES’ Kevin Williamson to Create Companion Series for CW

November 30, 2010 by
Filed under #1 featured, The Vampire Diaries, TV News

Kevin Williamson, executive producer of The CW’s THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, could probably use some supernatural energy of his own come 2011. According to E! Online, Williamson will develop a TVD “companion series” for the netlet while continuing to run TVD this winter.

The details? Apparently, the proposed pilot will be a one-hour drama about a group of researchers who investigate paranomal happenings. It’s unlikely that any of the VAMPIRE DIARIES characters would cross over to the new series as it is currently unconnected to the TVD world and is considered a completely different project.

It will likely be just one of several options for THE CW’s Fall 2011 schedule as BUFFY alum Michelle Trachtenberg, TVD book series author L.J. Smith and Samuel L. Jackson are all reportedly developing projects as well.

Thoughts?

COMMUNITY: Christmas Claymation Episode Previews with Danny Pudi and Alison Brie

When I visited the set of COMMUNITY this fall, creator Dan Harmon proudly told us of the show’s upcoming holiday episode which will be done completely in the animated stop-motion medium, just like some of the old Christmas classics we loved as kids.

In the ep, when Abed (Danny Pudi) wakes up in stop-motion animation, he takes it as a sign that he and the group must re-discover the meaning of Christmas. Meanwhile, Jeff (Joel McHale) and Britta (Gillian Jacobs) become growingly concerned about Abed’s mental health and enlist the help of Professor Duncan (John Oliver). The group undergoes hypnosis to explore Abed’s winter wonderland and soon unravel the truth behind Abed’s madness.

Check out a couple previews below, which Pudi and Alison Brie (Annie) host…
