COMMUNITY Plans Dungeons & Dragons Episode
January 14, 2011 by Alanna Bennett
Geeks, rejoice! The wondrously referential NBC comedy COMMUNITY announced at TCA that an upcoming episode will be devoted to the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons. In fact, the entire episode will consist of the study group sitting at their usual table, playing the game.
That may not sound like much to COMMUNITY outsiders, but knowing the people responsible for the show, they’re sure to do some things stylistically to make the episode a lot more interesting.
As creator Dan Harmon said in the TCA session on Thursday, it’s “a huge experiment. Every time we do something different and have success with it, each subsequent thing becomes less and less of a gamble. If I’d had to play by the same rules as traditional sitcom writers, I’d have wound up making a bad sitcom. Fortunately, I haven’t had to.”
What do you think? Too geeky? Not geeky enough? The most brilliant idea you’ve ever heard? What’s something new you wish COMMUNTY would tackle?
