SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Mary Murphy Will Return as a Resident Judge

Mary “hot tamale train” Murphy will return as a regular judge on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE this coming season.

Murphy, who was replaced on the panel last season by choreographer Mia Michaels, will sit alongside executive producer and fellow judge Nigel Lythgoe this summer, as she did in seasons 2 through 6.

Lythgoe, who returns to AMERICAN IDOL as an executive producer this season as well, made an appearance at Fox’s IDOL session this morning and I was able to get a few moments with him afterward.

“I am delighted to have Mary back,” he said.

Regarding Mia Michaels, he said he very much hopes that she will come back as a full time choreographer: “For me, last year, she was lacking [not being able to choreograph] in the competition.”

As far as all the other changes Lythgoe made to SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE last season, this year, he’s hoping to find a happy medium between the new and the old: “I’d love to find a way to incorporate both a Top 20 and the All-Stars. I’m not sure how we would do that yet, but that’s what I’d like to do.”

Any thoughts, SYTYCD fans?

Happy to hear that Mary will be back permanently? That Mia Michaels will possibly be choreographing a lot more this summer?

Speak up below…

P.S. In preparation for the new season, SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE producers are traveling across the country in search of dancers who represent the best of America. The series continues its search for America’s Favorite Dancer in Salt Lake City, UT, on Wednesday, Feb. 2; in Los Angeles, CA, on Friday, Feb. 25; and in Charlotte, NC, on Tuesday, March 1. Audition information is as follows:

THE BACHELOR: Brad Womack Dishes on Madison’s Fangs and His Favorite Date

January 11, 2011 by

First of all, we have to talk about the most important thing that occurred in tonight’s episode of THE BACHELOR: Michelle turned 30.

In case you missed it during one of the five million times she mentioned it, yes, it was Michelle’s birthday. Can we all agree Michelle may be this season’s resident crazy chick? She got the rose during the group date, and she still stole Brad away for one-on-one time to ask him if he prefers Starbucks or The Coffee Bean? Really?

Ugh.

Tonight, instead of our traditional recap of THE BACHELOR, we’re going to do things a bit differently. I stalked caught up with Brad Womack at ABC’s Press Tour party this evening and got his take on one of the season’s most controversial contestants. Plus, he revealed which date he was most excited for fans to see…

THE CAPE Series Premiere Review

January 10, 2011 by
Filed under #1 featured, The Cape

When Bruce Wayne rode off at the end of The Dark Knight, sacrificing his persona as Batman by turning the masked hero into a villain in the public’s eyes, America’s pulse collectively increased with the surge of adrenaline caused by the three-hour roller coaster ride. Christopher Nolan had done it again, bringing the classic tale of a heroic vigilante up to date in a gritty urban setting. Tom Wheeler, executive producer of NBC’s new series THE CAPE, attempts to do the same for the small screen. Did he succeed? It might take time to tell.

EPISODES Preview

January 9, 2011 by

January 9th is a big night for Showtime.

Not only does the fourth season of CALIFORNICATION premiere, but two promising new shows — SHAMELESS and EPISODES — debut their pilots.

While all of the shows are worth your time, personally, I’m crazy about EPISODES.

The series revolves around a British couple, Sean (Stephen Mangan) and Beverly (Tamsin Greig), who move to Hollywood  after a US network decides to remake their hit British series “Lyman’s Boys.” They’re promised nothing will be changed in the adaptation — but that deal is quickly broken, starting with the original lead actor being recast with Matt LeBlanc (playing an exaggerated version of himself). Sean and Beverly are horrified.

I’ve seen the entire first season of the show and EPISODES is certainly different than the majority of comedies out there. The pacing is not what most American audiences are used to, but stick with the series. The ride is worth it.

Check out a trailer, a “meet the cast” video, and two preview scenes from the pilot episode below!

Is GLEE Planning a Justin Bieber-Themed Episode?

January 8, 2011 by

Well, this news might freak out a few Bieber fans.

According to TVLine, GLEE is planning to air a Justin Bieber-centric episode in February. Apparently the hour will feature his songs and Bieber himself will play into the plot, though as of now, he’s not set to appear.

Look, I understand that some of GLEE’s high school characters might have Bieber-fever. And if this comes to fruition, it gives GLEE even more buzz.

Are BONES’ Hodgins and Angela about to hit a rough patch?

Almost immediately after the news of Angela’s pregnancy broke, fans were warned that it might not be the easiest experience for the couple. And while viewers haven’t seen much of the pregnancy play out on screen so far, it appears the storyline will move forward in the second half of the season.

Give Me My Remote chatted with BONES executive producer Stephen Nathan about what’s to come for Hodgins and Angela, if Hodgins has been hiding some secrets, plus the complicated, shifting relationships between Booth, Brennan and Sweets…

Get ready for BOB’S BURGERS!

The quirky animated series finally premieres this Sunday and as an unapologetic Animation Domination nerd, I’m really excited about it. It’s a bit different than what is already in Fox’s animation block, but it’s certainly worth giving the pilot a peep.

I chatted with series stars Eugene Mirman, Kristen Schaal and John Roberts and when they weren’t poking fun at each other, they dished on the show.

Check it out…
