SURVIVOR – REDEMPTION ISLAND Recap: ‘You Own My Vote’

I don’t know if he’s delusional. I think he’s a good-hearted guy. I do. Just might not all be there. Let it be a lesson to you…government jobs –  stressful.” – Boston Rob on Philip

Probably worthwhile to begin this week’s recap by begging for a little personal redemption. The brand new season of SURVIVOR: REDEMPTION ISLAND premiered last Wednesday and I wasn’t able to cover it here on GIVE ME MY REMOTE. You’ll be happy to know that I’ve paid the price. I’ve spent the last week in solitude on a deserted island and after going head-to-head in battle against another well known TV blogger, I have emerged victorious and I’m back in the game, ready to cover the show.

Does anyone else think we’re working up to a killer finale? What with Neal’s history playing such a prominent role in the past several episodes and the focus on his growing friendship with Peter, it seems like the show’s intensity is ratcheting up a few notches every week.

Last night’s episode had plenty of that emotion and depth, showcasing once again how close Neal and Peter are, as well as the dichotomy between the grifter Neal used to be and the “law man” he might be becoming.

Hey guys! The queen of “more butter, y’all!,” Paula Deen, is making an appearance on TOP CHEF: ALL STARS tonight! The cheftestants must impress Paula with their best deep-fried dish during the Quickfire Challenge. I don’t know about you, but I can smell the grease and can feel my arteries clogging from here!

In the Elimination Challenge, the chefs help a good cause by cooking up dishes to benefit fishermen of the Gulf Coast region. John Besh, owner and executive chef of Restaurant August in New Orleans, serves as the special guest judge. That shouldn’t prove to be too hard, since he’s served as both a judge and a contestant on TOP CHEF in the past.

Kids, it’s time we take a page from the book of Mr. Jamie Foxx and blame it on the a-a-alcohol, because tonight’s episode of GLEE looks to be insanely crazy.

Yes, the Rachel Berry House Party Train Wreck Extravaganza is on, there will be wine coolers aplenty and much like Rachel herself, it seems the event will be over-the-top in every way.

Comments Off on THE BACHELOR: Hometown Visits

If you watched THE BACHELOR Monday night, I’m guessing you weren’t at all surprised by who went home. Going to the hometowns of the women is always a little awkward and I can’t imagine the weirdness for the contestants as they introduce the bachelor to their families for the first time on camera. Plus, imagine being the girl he picks in the end and then having to see him getting along so well with the other families? Eek.

But during tonight’s episode, it became crystal clear one woman was having a really hard time bringing Brad into her life and she wouldn’t be part of the competition for long.

HOUSE Recap: Two Stories

Filed under #1 featured, House, House Recap

I am completely stumped to explain my reaction to this week’s HOUSE. On one hand, there were no significant plot developments or dramatic twists. On the other hand, I can make the argument that it was the most entertaining episode of Season 7. Confused? So am I…

The brilliance of this hour, crafted by director Greg Yaitanes and writer Thomas L. Moran, was its simplicity. Hugh Laurie’s work is always stellar, but “Two Stories” was a unique opportunity for Laurie to step away from the halls of Princeton Plainsboro and play off of a new set of scene partners. With a school full of aggrevated adults and curious children to interact with, House was a career day tour de force.

A ball challenge that turns out to be much harder than it looks gives the winning team a big advantage at this week’s weigh-in, which is especially valuable given that both a red line and a yellow line will result in two players going home. Trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels try to teach their contestants to push beyond the limits they’ve set for themselves, while trainers Cara Castronuova and Brett Hoebel take their team for an intense workout at a Mixed Martial Arts gym owned by contestant Rulon Gardner’s former trainer, retired UFC heavyweight champion Bas Rutten. Then a weigh-in filled with surprises is followed by two contestants leaving the ranch.

Principal Figgins, worried about the kids’ safety, teaches the student body about the dangers of underage drinking, and the glee club is personally touched by the message. Meanwhile, Mr. Schuester and Coach Beiste indulge in a little fun of their own.

NCIS | 8pm on CBS
“Kill Screen”
The dismembered fingertips and teeth of a murdered Marine are discovered in the stolen purse of a pickpocketer, launching NCIS on a mission to find a cold-blooded killer.

As the girls plan a surprise baby shower for Haley, the guys participate in try-outs for Jamie’s baseball team. Meanwhile, Brooke and Julian pursue adoption, while Mouth gets Millicent ready for her first day at work.

No Ordinary Family | 8pm on ABC

Jim’s feelings of guilt are overwhelming when, during a fight with a thug, he diverts a bullet that accidentally hits a boy – causing life-threatening harm. Meanwhile, Daphne’s boyfriend, Chris, steals the trilsettum serum from the Powell house and injects his wheelchair-bound father, Roy (Anthony Michael Hall), with disastrous results; Joshua proposes to Katie; and JJ’s teacher takes unscrupulous steps to get him to join the school’s academic decathlon team.

NCIS: Los Angeles | 9pm on CBS
“Personal”
Deeks’ morning routine is disrupted when he is shot during a convenience store robbery, leaving the NCIS team to investigate whether he was the assailants’ intended target.

V | 9pm on ABC
“Birth Pangs”
Erica, seeking revenge against Anna, heads to Hong Kong to carry out a mission to strike a lethal blow against Anna. Meanwhile, Anna learns that Tyler’s phosphorous level is too low – even after the Red Rain — and he might become useless to her; and Lisa and Diana bond, beginning to form an alliance against Anna.

Hellcats | 9pm on The CW
“Fancy Dan”
At Jimmy’s (guest star John Reardon) wedding, Marti and Savannah are really nervous about seeing Dan, given their uncomfortable past, but they’re in for an awkward surprise when he shows up to the wedding with his new girlfriend (guest star Sonja Bennett). Vanessa and Derrick face the toughest decision of their relationship. Alice visits Jake (guest star Ryan Kennedy) in jail.

Raising Hope | 9pm on Fox
“What Up, Cuz?”
Virginia’s cousin Delilah (guest star Amy Sedaris), who struggles to make ends meet, pays a visit to the Chance family unannounced, determined to claim her share of Maw Maw’s whom she thinks died years ago estate. Further tension builds when Delilah admits she still has a crush on Burt. Meanwhile, Jimmy babysits Maw Maw and panics when she takes off on Sabrina’s moped.

Traffic Light | 9:30pm on Fox
“All The Precedent’s Men”

CHUCK Recap: Chuck vs. the Masquerade

After feeling a bit underwhelmed by the last two filler episodes of CHUCK, tonight’s episode felt especially triumphant. Jam packed with story, “Chuck vs. the Masquerade” was a great kickoff to the remainder of the sen son.

Given the theme of tonight’s episode, I have to wonder why the writer’s opted for “vs. the Masquerade” rather than “vs. the Third Wheel”. Titular issues aside, both Morgan and Casey were feeling a little odd man out to the all mighty entity that is Chuck and Sarah.
