THE BACHELOR: The Final Two Revealed
March 1, 2011 by Marisa Roffman
“I’ve always said that I wanted to find a truly sweet woman to spend my life with and Emily is that woman.” – Brad
Um, Brad, either you just told us who’s going to win this whole thing or you’re going to have a heck of a lot of grovelling to do towards the woman you inevitably pick.
Though to be fair, if he picks Chantal, it’s likely he’ll have to spend the next year making up for what he said and did on THE BACHELOR, anyway.
Poor Chantal…she really has seemed like the odd woman out, hasn’t she? Brad seemed to really like her, but I’m not sure if it’s the way you should like a potential spouse. He told Chantal he was most comfortable with her, which was a nice compliment. I’m sure that made her feel good, especially since she’s been so open about being in love with him.
However, after Emily expressed that she was falling in love with Brad, he reciprocated those feelings, saying he couldn’t let her put that out there without him saying the same thing. Aren’t the bachelors supposed to avoid saying the “l” word until it’s down to the final person? Either way, it’s probably pretty telling that he never said anything like that to Chantal.
As for Ashley, he said he could see himself in her life, but he had some concerns. He also said she was one in a million. Which would be a sweet thought if he hadn’t said the same thing about Emily.
However, his concerns about where he stood with Ashley led to a Very Serious Conversation during their date. Was it me, or was that one of the most awkward dates in recent BACHELOR history between two people who legitimately liked each other? I had to talk myself out of fast-forwarding the painful gaps in conversation as they ate their dinner because you could feel the tension radiating off the screen.
Unfortunately for Ashley, it went so badly that Brad sent her home. I’m not sure if Brad wanted her to beg to stay around or something, but she was hurt, he was hurt and it just wasn’t going to happen.
I will say, I was legitimately shocked when he said goodbye to Ashley. When I talked with Brad in January, he said that his carnival date with Ashley was “by far the best first date I’ve ever been on in my entire life.” The affection in his voice for her was pretty obvious, so I wouldn’t have been surprised if she had won the whole thing. But I guess that won’t be happening.
Next week is the “Women Tell All” special and I’m almost embarrassingly excited about it. I wonder what version of Michelle we’ll get: crazy possessive or silent? That’s assuming she shows up.
As for the last two women? Let’s just hope for everyone’s sake, he chooses Emily.
What do you guys think? Were you surprised Ashley went home?
