COUGAR TOWN in Hawaii

Aloha, friends.
If you’ve been following my tweets this week, you may already know that I’m currently on the gorgeous island of O’ahu in the paradise we call Hawaii with the cast and crew of one of our favorite comedies, COUGAR TOWN.
Yes, I’m an a–hole. It’s okay. I think so too.
For some reason, I can’t stop smiling on this “work” trip. It’s weird.
May have something to do with the COUGAR TOWN family being amazing.
May have something to do with this…
Whatever the case, I’m still an a–hole.
But anyhoo, I’ve run into some old friends while on the island.
Rememember this guy?

MODERN FAMILY Recap: ‘Two Monkeys and a Panda’

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – I love when MODERN FAMILY mixes their hilarious brand of comedy with real family poignancy and last night’s episode was a great example of that.
I also loved that all three families received practically equal airtime this week. After the past two weeks seemingly being all about Phil and Claire, it was nice to venture in to Cameron-and-Mitchell-land and, to a lesser extent, Jay-and-Gloria-land.

WHITE COLLAR Recap: Power Play

Note: Before we get into breaking down last night’s epsiode, I wanted to let all you WHITE COLLAR fans know that Marisa and Kath will be covering the WHITE PANEL event at the Paley Festival in L.A. on Saturday. We’ll be talking to Matt Bomer, Tim DeKay and the rest of the cast and creative team on the red carpet before the event, so if you have any questions you’d like to ask them, email them to info@givememyremote.com or tweet them to @GMMRtv or @MarisaRoffman (be sure to use the #GMMRPaley hashtag).
Can you believe we only have one episode left in the season? Last night’s episode was a big one, as Peter and Neal swapped identities, Neal [finally!] locked lips with Sara, and we [hopefully] moved a few steps closer to answers – and closure – about Kate.
Case of the Week
During a heatwave and subsequent city-wide energy crisis, Elizabeth’s client reveals that she suspects her boss,Andrew Stanzler, of creating the power blackouts. When Peter is late for his meeting with the skittish informant, Neal improvises and pretends to be Peter.
Peter: No questions, no laughing. Just do it. And never speak of this again.
Peter is thoroughly irritated – until he realizes that means he gets to play “Neal Caffrey.” Both men dive into their parts, learning more about each other’s worlds and enjoying a few perks of the roles along the way. (In other words, Neal gets to flash a badge and shout, “I’m FBI!” while Peter learns to pick pockets and, once again, looks good in black.)
After learning that Stanzler is looking for a thief, Peter – posing as Neal – signs up for the job in an effort to learn more about the energy trader’s activities. Neal – posting as Peter – is left to do the paperwork, which, of course, includes creating his own FBI credentials.

TOP CHEF: ALL STARS Preview

With only five chefs left, the competition is reaching a boiling point on TOP CHEF: ALL STARS (I apologize for that terrible pun).
This week, the contestants’ families come for a visit. Sweet! But wait, are Mike and Antonia related? We’ll just have to watch the episode to find out.
In tonight’s Quickfire Challenge, the cheftestants must cook on a ferry bound for Ellis Island using only the food and equipment found on board and they aren’t too happy about it. But if any chef can make a great dish out of nacho cheese and hot dogs, it’s these guys! Hopefully the Elimination Challenge proves to be less stressful…
Check out some previews for tonight’s episode and let us know who you are rooting for!
AMERICAN IDOL Top 12 Guys Performance Recap
March 1, 2011 by Kath Skerry
Filed under #1 featured, American Idol, American Idol Recap
After all the drawn out drama surrounding the announcement of the new judges and the wild speculation about what the show would look like without Simon Cowell’s distinctive and defining voice, I wasn’t all that excited about AMERICAN IDOL this season. Last year’s lackluster contestants had me all but walking away after being a loyal and dedicated fan since season one. But given my history with the show, I had to give it one more shot. So I tuned in, and I don’t think I’m exaggerating when I say that right away I felt the new energy. It was palpable.
Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler certainly contributed to the new dynamic, and hell, even Randy Jackson seemed to be stepping up his game, but I also think the producers deserve some credit for taking the opportunity and really making the best of it. The audition shows had better pacing and the subsequent rounds felt a bit more grounded.
But the auditions and Hollywood Week are over and the real show starts tonight as the top 12 guys take to the IDOL stage for the first time for your votes.
For those of you who are new to the weekly GIVE ME MY REMOTE IDOL recaps, I’m a ‘blog as you watch’ kind of gal. I take in each performance and then jot down my thoughts before they can be influenced by the judges. That way I can share my authentic feelings. Not to say that I won’t change my mind after a few viewings of a performance, but what you’ll be reading is my gut reaction. Sometimes we’ll agree and other times you’ll be wrong (ha!) but either way, I am glad we’ll be watching AMERICAN IDOL together this season.
Tune in to GIVE ME MY REMOTE every Thursday when we LIVE blog the results show. (Note: Keep an eye out on Twitter [@gmmrTV] for an announcement from me about this Thursday’s live blog. I’m going to be up in the air on a flight to Los Angeles during the show, but as long as I can get the internet, which I think I can, I should be able to watch and blog).
Next week we’re going to have a special IDOL blog as I’ll be in the audience for the Thursday night performance taping. My very first IDOL experience…I can’t wait!
Ok enough already…let’s get to the performances. Here’s my take on each of the guys. Then it’s YOUR turn.
Clint Jun Gamboa
1-866-IDOLS-01
This kid has a voice, a serious voice, but somehow I’m never really blown away. Maybe I’m distracted by those glasses. Hmm. His performance of Stevie Wonder’s “Superstitious” was exactly what I expected from him and I’m not sure that’s a good thing. While the song is a classic, it’s classically overdone on the IDOL stage. It’s worn out. Hoping he picks a more contemporary song next week.
Jovany Barreto
1-866-IDOLS-02
“I’ll Be” your wedding singer. I know it’s a myth that the IDOL singers can pick any song they want from week to week, but I’m stunned that Jovany thought this song was the best way to represent himself to the voting audience on the first true night of competition. The vocals were ok, but he didn’t inspire me to pick up the phone and vote.
AMERICAN IDOL Semifinalists: Which Boys Have Our Attention?

After more than a month of audition rounds, it’s finally time for the AMERICAN IDOL live performances!
Yes, it’s going to be a brutal week for the AMERICAN IDOL contestants as the 24 semifinalists get whittled down to 5 boys, 5 girls and a to be determined number of wild card picks from the judges. (Though it’s rumored the judges will be selecting 2-3 contestants to be finalists.) Anyone else feel a little sorry that about half of these constants will be gone by Thursday?
But rough times means we have to start picking our early favorites. And since the boys are up first tonight, which ones have made an early impression on Team GMMR?
Check them out (in alphabetical order) and peep some of their pre-IDOL performances…

If you saw the preview for next week’s episode of HOUSE, you know the hour promises to be a memorable one. After all, it’s not every day Dr. Crankypants sings. Yes, House sings.
Cuddy is sick — the poor woman has had the worst luck since she and House have gotten together, hasn’t she? — and a series of dreams leads to songs and a musical scene choreographed by SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE’s Mia Michaels.

“I’ve always said that I wanted to find a truly sweet woman to spend my life with and Emily is that woman.” – Brad
Um, Brad, either you just told us who’s going to win this whole thing or you’re going to have a heck of a lot of grovelling to do towards the woman you inevitably pick.
Though to be fair, if he picks Chantal, it’s likely he’ll have to spend the next year making up for what he said and did on THE BACHELOR, anyway.
