If you’ve been watching the new Fox comedy series BREAKING IN, you can probably tell the cast seems to be enjoying themselves.

In fact, when I talked with Christian Slater (Oz) on the set of the show, he pointed to the fun he’s having while filming the series as one of his favorite parts of BREAKING IN.

Take a look at his explanation, plus his take on the show’s “inspired” writers and what their abundance of ideas means…

TOP CHEF: MASTERS Preview

It’s that time of week again — TOP CHEF: MASTERS is on tonight!

In this evening’s Quickfire Challenge, the chefs must cook with bugs — nightcrawlers, beetles and scorpions included! Yuck! I may not be tuning in, just so you know.

Later, tensions run high when Chef Naomi Pomeroy takes charge during the Elimination Challenge, but quickly becomes frustrated when no one wants to listen to her. The chefs are cooking for charity, so maybe that’s why she wants everything to be perfect? These are “masters,” though, and are not used to being bossed around!

Check out some clips from tonight’s show and let me know if you’ll still be tuning in despite the bugs!

GLEE Recap: ‘Night of Neglect’

April 20, 2011 by

On Glee’s long-awaited return-from-hiatus episode (okay it wasn’t that long, but any hiatus is a long hiatus to me), we have the reappearance of a handful of characters, including McKinley substitute teacher (and Will Schuester’s substitute-Emma) Holly Holliday, Sunshine “sent-to-a-crackhouse-by-Rachel-Berry” Corazon, and the Legion (or League?) of Doom, which consists of glee club instructor-turned-weed dealer-turned-predatory gay Sandy Ryerson, Terri “Fake-Preggers” Schuester, and Sergeant Sexypants Vocal Adrenaline coach Dustin Goolsby. Did you catch all that?

The glee club decides to throw a benefit concert to raise money for the academic club (what? You mean there’s more to these kids’ lives than glee and football?) in addition to funding their trip to nationals. Sunshine Corazon wants to help — her first name is “Sunshine” and her last name means “Heart,” how could her intentions be bad? Ms. Berry thinks she’s a spy — funny how when the enemy doesn’t come in the form of a cute boy with comprehensive knowledge of the Lionel Richie catalog, Rachel is better at sniffing them out. Sunshine whips out the Twitter card, and says she can fill 600 seats with her followers if they let her sing. Ah, the power of Twitter followers. That’s good enough reason for Puck, who practically demanded she be allowed to sing, and whose face was painted with lustful admiration the minute Sunshine opened her mouth and let out the first notes of “All By Myself.” What, you mean you didn’t notice his face? Think I’m crazy? Rewind your DVRs, it’s unmistakable. I would totally dig a Puck/Sunshine story line. We could call them “Punshine.” Or “Suckerman.” You heard it here first.

HOUSE Recap: Last Temptation

In September of 2009, I suggested that Hugh Laurie be nominated for a Tony Award for his performance in the Season 6 premiere, “Broken.” For two hours, the star of HOUSE put on a display of acting prowess that would fill any theater on Broadway.

Amber Tamblyn’s name may never appear on a marquee in Times Square, but her final episode as Martha M. Masters was a case study in how to present a morality play. By focusing on her character’s core values, the tension between ambition and principle, and the importance of being “extraordinary,” Ms. Tamblyn made her case as the Most Valuable Player of Season 7.

HELLCATS returns tonight with a brand new episode and the cheerleaders are hopping on the zombie craze to help a friend out. In the “slightly less flashy, but no less important” category, the hour also features Marti making a key discovery about her family.

“[There are] some secrets between her mom, Wanda, and Marti and some secrets with her dad and that past,” Aly Michalka (Marti) told reporters last week. “There will be some things revealed that she never knew about her father, as well as [real-life sister] AJ [Michalka (Dierdre)] being introduced into Marti’s world. There’s some really cool stuff that’s going to happen between Marti and Dierdre.  I think it’s going to to really exciting because everyone’s kind of fishing around [asking], ‘Well, what exactly is your connection to each other?’ and it’s going to be pretty clear right off the bat.  It’s pretty neat.”

After a painfully long hiatus, GLEE is finally back tonight!

“Night of Neglect” features the return of guest star Charice (Sunshine Corazon), who may have some shady plans up her sleeve.

Someone whose plans are sinister for sure? Ms. Sue Sylvester, who starts her own “Legion of Doom.”

What should we expect from said legion? GLEE star Jane Lynch (Sue) talked with reporters about that and more at the PaleyFest red carpet…

RAISING HOPE’s Greg Garcia and Martha Plimpton Tease a Guest Spot by Jerry Van Dyke

RAISING HOPE is finally back with a brand new episode tonight! So what’s going down with our favorite quirky family?

“There’s a little bit of a love story between [guest star Jerry Van Dyke] and Cloris Leachman (Maw Maw) and there’s some controversy going on because [she] is not thinking all the way correctly and believes that she is still married — even though her husband has passed away — so she thinks she’s cheating,” RAISING HOPE creator Greg Garcia teased on a conference call to reporters. “Martha [Plimpton]’s character [Virginia] has some problems with that even though it’s just in her mind. Meanwhile, in that episode, Jimmy and Sabrina are going through some similar problems where Sabrina feels that that, Wyatt, her boyfriend at college is cheating on her. So they’re going to investigate.”

PARENTHOOD Finale Preview: Peep the Family Drama

April 19, 2011 by

So, PARENTHOOD is pretty much the best drama on network TV right now. Have I mentioned that before? Okay, sure, it’s a matter of opinion, but PARENTHOOD truly is so much better than the lack of attention it’s garnering right now.

FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS fans, if you’re not watching, you really should. You’re into heart. You’re into character. You’re into realistic portrayals of life struggles. PARENTHOOD has all these things. And the same showrunner as FNL as well. Jason Katims’ fingerprints, like that of a skilled artist, are all over this show. And I’m so bummed that the finale airs tonight. PARENTHOOD has been the highlight of this TV season for me.

In this evening’s episode, Sarah (Lauren Graham) and the rest of the family worry about Amber’s well-being after the car accident she was in last week. Max’s behavior upsets Adam (Peter Krause). Julia (Erika Christenson) unexpectedly plays a big role in a woman’s labor and delivery, which is difficult since she was just told that she may not be able to conceive again. Kristina helps with Haddie’s transition into womanhood after asking Haddie if she and her boyfriend are having sex. Crosby, still trying to win Jasmine back, tries to convince her to visit the new home he bought for them.

GAME OF THRONES Renewed for Season 2

Comments Off on GAME OF THRONES Renewed for Season 2

HBO has renewed GAME OF THRONES for a second season after the premiere drew decent ratings.

More than 2.2 million viewers tuned into the fantasy series’ debut — based on George R.R. Martin’s book — on Sunday.

The show will cost HBO nearly $50 million per season, but the network apparently feels confident in THRONES’ potential.

GAME OF THRONES, which revolves around a fictional world filled with sex — often of the incestuous kind — scheming, debauchery and the like, seems to be striking a chord with its audience.

DANCING WITH THE STARS Recap – Week 5

Comments Off on DANCING WITH THE STARS Recap – Week 5

There are some themes that make sense on DANCING WITH THE STARS — for example acoustic night and classical night were both successful weeks because they emphasized the style of music. American week ran the most obscure variety of songs and dances. Who thought that people could translate a Brazilian Samba into something closer to a country two-step?

I knew we were in for an interesting week when there was almost immediate, but minor lighting issues for Tom and Brooke. This week marks the return of the stairs, but along with the stairs, the producers decided to grab a large screen with the same generic video that AMERICAN IDOL used and placed it in the middle. The screen predominantly used the shot of either a blinking or waving American flag.

Not only have we reached the halfway point in the competition, but this episode contained the 1000th competitive dance of the series.

GLEE finally returns tonight! I think that’s cause for celebration!

There’s quite a few other choices on like JAMIE OLIVER’S FOOD REVOLUTION, the DWTS results show, BODY OF PROOF, PARENTHOOD and more!

Read on to find out!

Glee | 8pm on Fox
“Night of Neglect”
Proving that birds of a feather flock together, when another under-the-radar club at McKinley High needs helps raising funds, the glee club signs up to help. But when Sue hears about the show of support, she moves quickly to put the kibosh on it. Meanwhile, relationships are tested and big decisions will be made.

Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution | 8pm on ABC
“I Think I Found a Loophole”
Now that the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), the nation’s second largest school district, has prevented Jamie Oliver from bringing his cameras into the schools, Jamie tries to garner parental support by dressing as a tomato and distributing free healthy lunches outside the schools. His grass-roots efforts help him connect with West Adams Preparatory School, a high school that works in partnership with the LAUSD but is run by the MLA Partnership and serves South Los Angeles. They allow him to teach the students about healthy cooking with a caveat — he cannot go inside the cafeteria or the school kitchen. While he’s there, Sophia, a 17-year-old student, tearfully tells Jamie about her family’s troubles with diabetes and her fears of being diagnosed herself. Jamie knows that Sophia’s concerns are “just the tip of the iceberg,” but the next time he comes to the school, armed with only a basket of vegetables, he’s chagrined to see a police cruiser at the entry. What has happened since his last visit, and how much more has his access been limited?

One Tree Hill | 8pm on The CW
“Quiet Little Voices”
The big day has finally arrived and the gang gathers at the hospital to await the birth of Haley and Nathan’s baby. While they wait, they reminisce about the memories they have shared over the years.

The Biggest Loser | 8pm on NBC
“Episode 1116”
The New Zealand adventure continues in Queenstown, where the eight remaining contestants learn from host Alison Sweeney that the game is going to singles. Then a special visitor surprises all of the players with a grand and unforgettable entrance! This week’s challenge is river surfing, with the winning contestant getting the coveted prize of immunity plus a helicopter ride to spectacular Milford Sound, one of New Zealand’s top tourist destinations. Zip-lining, rock climbing and bungee jumping highlight the rest of their memorable Queenstown experience before a weigh-in sends another player home.
