Report: NBC Picks Up AWAKE, THE PLAYBOY CLUB and GRIMM
May 12, 2011 by Marisa Roffman
Unlike Fox whose 2011-2012 schedule leaked in a massive rush, the news from NBC is coming in a little bit slower. However, multiple outlets are reporting that the network has picked up three new shows: AWAKE, THE PLAYBOY CLUB and GRIMM.
AWAKE (formerly known as REM) is by Kyle Killen, who was behind the short-lived Fox series LONESTAR. The series centers around a detective who wakes up after a car accident to find himself living in two different, yet equally tragic, realities. It stars Jason Isaacs, Laura Allen, Cherry Jones, Steve Harris, Wilmer Valderrama, Dylan Minnette and Michaela McManus.
THE PLAYBOY CLUB is set around the Playboy Club in 1963, where the working girls are surrounded by mob bosses and high rollers. The series stars Eddie Cibrian, Laura Benanti, Amber Heard, Jenna Dewan, Naturi Naughton and David Krumholtz.
GRIMM is one of two fairytale projects that were in contention this pilot season (the other one is at ABC). NBC’s version is a cop drama, with fantastical elements. The show stars David Giuntoli, Russell Hornsby and Bitsie Tulloch.
