The CHUCK Cast Teases ‘Chuck vs. the Cliffhanger’

It’s season finale time on CHUCK and the stakes have never been higher for at least one beloved character.

As CHUCK fans know, Sarah was poisoned in the penultimate episode — something which could derail her upcoming wedding with Chuck.

“Sarah’s poisoned, Sarah’s fighting for her life, which throws a major kink in everything, really,” Zachary Levi (Chuck) teased to reporters on the set of the season finale. “[It impacts] our relationship, our wedding plans. So yeah, that’s what’s happening, and kind of everyone having to work together in order to save the day — like we do on the show.”

Indeed, the entire cast was there when I visited them on-location at a hospital set. (Poor, unconscious, Sarah.) In their own ways, they’re all going to be trying to make sure the lovebirds are safe and actually make it down the aisle.

“I can’t tell you much. I’m wearing scrubs, so Yvonne [Strahovski]’s character [Sarah] is in dire straits,” Sarah Lancaster (Ellie) noted. “We’re working on her right now. We’ve been working towards a wedding, whether or not that will come off, you know, it’s CHUCK, right? So, there’s all kinds of drama that leads to us potentially getting to or not getting to the church on time.”

Sarah’s condition also brings out the inner-fighter in two of the men in her life.

“You get to see [Awesome] actually applying some of his knowledge and trying to save the day, so to speak,” Ryan McPartlin (Awesome) previewed. “The whole cast is together and [that’s] when Chuck really fires on all cylinders. They did a really good job of giving us all a real sense of purpose.”

However, Awesome’s heroics interrupt the potentially epic antics of Morgan. On set, we saw Awesome take down someone, while Joshua Gomez’s Morgan observed — or while Morgan was waiting to make his move, as Gomez pointed out.

“He sort of steals my thunder,” Joshua Gomez (Morgan) laughed. “I was on my way to punch [the man] out. Or sweep the leg, I believe. ‘Sweep the leg, Johnny!’ Cobra Kai. So yeah — I was on my way over there, debating whether to sweep the leg, or karate kick, or judo chop, roundhouse punch. And by the time I got there [and got] to a decision, Captain Awesome just knocks him out and drags his body out.”

Not an easy day for the boys. But Strahovski told reporters she actually didn’t mind the break in action for Sarah.

“I’m unconscious for the whole day [of shooting],” Strahovski said. “It’s my favorite day of the week! I get to sleep all day in a hospital bed, which I’ve never done before. Usually I’m fighting, doing something or other. It’s good, it’s relaxing!”
