MODERN FAMILY Recap: ‘The One That Got Away’

And another season comes to an end.
Yes, Wednesday night was the second season finale of MODERN FAMILY and for a show that’s had its ups and down this year, I thought they ended on a high note with this episode. That’s not to say it was the funniest or even the best episode of the season, but it was a great way to wrap everything up while still leaving us wanting more.
This episode had the whole extended family running around like chickens with their heads cut off trying to plan the perfect birthday party for Jay, but this is MODERN FAMILY – of course nothing goes right. In fact, no one had even gotten him a gift yet! (Did that remind anyone else of GLEE with New Directions going to Nationals and yet having no songs? What is it with everyone being unprepared?)

One of the highlights of the AMERICAN IDOL finale night? Jack Black! (No disrespect meant to the winner, of course.)
When Casey Abrams was on THE ELLEN DEGENERES SHOW after his elimination, she spilled beans that his performing partner at the finale would be Jack Black. But what song would the duo be performing?
Tonight, Abrams and Black tackled Queen’s “Fat Bottomed Girls”…and it was awesome.

THE FINDER is going to look a little bit different when it makes its way on the Fox schedule.
As first reported by EW, Saffron Burrows — who played Ike, Walter’s bartender and pilot, in THE FINDER’s backdoor spinoff/pilot episode of BONES earlier this year — will no longer be a part of the show going forward as the producers are taking the character in a new direction. Fox could not officially confirm her exit.

It was just last week The CW gave us our first look at their new drama series, RINGER, starring Sarah Michelle Gellar. Today, the network officially released a longer promo reel — which they showed at last week’s Upfronts presentation — to tease a little bit more about what viewers can expect from the show.

COUGAR TOWN: Dan Byrd Talks Travis, Love and Laurie

Comments Off on COUGAR TOWN: Dan Byrd Talks Travis, Love and Laurie
Travis’s recent heartbreak (and subsequent meltdown) on COUGAR TOWN has him abruptly moving to Hawaii (without telling his mommy) this week.
Of course, the cul-de-sac crew isn’t going to let their kid go without a fight, so they all fly to the gorgeous island to find him.
The cast and crew of the show headed to Hawaii to shoot the episode, which serves as COUGAR TOWN’s second season finale. And, oh yeah, I also got to go.
Peep the clip below to see some of the quality time I got with Dan Byrd while there. He’s explaining what’s on tap for Travis now that Kirsten has rejected his marriage proposal. Will Laurie (Busy Philipps) be the next lady in his love life? Though rumors have suggested this to be the case, COUGAR TOWN co-creator Bill Lawrence called the notion a bit “creepy” and therefore unlikely — for now. He did admit that the idea has been kicked around the writers room quite a bit and Byrd gives his two cents on the subject in this video…

AMERICAN IDOL: Scotty and Lauren on the First All-Country Finals and Whether He’ll Cut His Hair

Comments Off on AMERICAN IDOL: Scotty and Lauren on the First All-Country Finals and Whether He’ll Cut His Hair
In the hours leading up to last night’s AMERICAN IDOL performance finale, rumors were swirling that finalist Lauren Alaina would have to drop out of the competition because she was sick and unable to sing. Fortunately for the 16-year-old, the doctors were able to fix her up so she could make it through the show.
However, when it came to doing press after the finale, Lauren was understandably on vocal rest, so she brought out a notepad to write out her answers to questions. Fellow finalist, Scotty McCreery, was kind enough to do the brunt of the talking, whether it was about the show having its first all-country finals or if he’ll cut his hair like Jennifer Lopez requested.

GLEE Season Finale Recap: ‘New York’

“I don’t like cities, but I like New York. Other cities make me feel like a dork.” Oddly enough, I can see where Finn is coming from with this rhymetastic lyric. NYC was a perfect backdrop for the drama and love and dreams and disappointment that characterize our dear show. I got such a kick out of the New Yorkness of this episode. Romance in Central Park. Breakfast at Tiffany’s – or bagel and coffee outside of Tiffany’s. Running into Patti Freaking LuPone at Sardi’s. Those red steps in Times Square in front of the tkts booth, which I happen to have been sitting at just a week ago. I don’t know about that comment about it always smelling “wet.” I think that stench is more accurately described as “urine.”

TVLine is reporting that NBC’s contract negotiations with LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT star Chris Meloni (Det. Stabler) have broken down and he won’t be returning for the upcoming 13th (!) season. NBC could not confirm the news at this time.
His co-star, Mariska Hargitay (Det. Benson), has already inked a deal to return next season, but will allegedly be phased into a more minor role midway through the season.

If you’re a COUGAR TOWN fan, you’re well aware of the musical talent Mr. Josh Hopkins possesses, since he’s played more than a couple tunes on the show as his character, Grayson. You also know that Grayson likes to jam with a guitar. In Hawaii, however — where Hopkins and the COUGAR TOWN family filmed this Wednesday’s season 2 finale — they switched things up.
To find out which instrument Josh learned to play for the the episode, check out the video below. He’s serenading us and spilling some info on Grayson’s case of baby fever. He’ll be hounding Jules about having another kid this week, and word is, she may have forgotten her birth control pills back home…

Holy frak!
Showtime has just announced in a press release that former BATTLESTAR GALACTICA star Edward James Olmos will guest star on the sixth season of DEXTER as “a brilliant, charismatic professor of religious studies.” The network makes no mention of how long he’ll be sticking around or what his character’s name is. Hm…
