SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE All Stars: Which SYTYCD Alums Will Be Returning

It’s the news many of us SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE fans have been waiting for.  Which alums will be returning to the SYTYCD stage as Season 8 All Stars! Tonight the list was revealed, and while there were some familiar names, a few names pleasantly surprised me.

Returning once again to dazzle us with their talent are…

• Pasha (s3)
• tWitch (s4)
• Comfort (s4)
• Chelsie (s4)
• Brandon (s5)
• Kathryn (s6)
• Robert (s7)

Welcome back!

A reminder about the format – each week from here on out, the SYTYCD Season 8 contestants will perform two routines.  One with another S8 contestant and one with an All Star.

Are your favorite alums coming back to the SYTYCD stage? Who are you most excited to see return?  Any former contestants you were really pulling for to return?

UPDATE: According to @OMGDance, there will be even more All Stars announced soon!  Some alums have been confirmed but they weren’t announced on the show. Oh yeah!

As for this initial list,  I’m bummed that Mark Kanemura won’t be joining the show this season.  The boy has been busy.  Just last night he got back to the States after touring the world with Lady Gaga. Guess you can’t blame him for wanting a bit of a break.

Happy to see Mark’s long time SYTYCD partner, Chelsie Hightower, returning to her roots.  For those of you who weren’t aware, Chelsie has been one of the ballroom pros on DANCING WITH THE STARS the past few seasons.

One name I was surprised not to see on the list was Kayla Radomski. A strong dancer and a judge favorite, I thought she might be asked back.

Sadly the one person I think most SYTYCD fans wanted to see come back as an All Star was Season 7’s Alex Wong. As you probably remember, Alex had to leave the show early last season when he tore a tendon in his right leg during rehearsal.  Well, tonight Nigel shared the sad news that although Alex had been asked to return as an All Star this season, just last Saturday he tore the tendon in his left leg.  The poor guy spent a full year recovering from his injury only to be hurt again and back where he was a year ago…in bed, unable to dance.  My heart breaks for Alex.

So no Alex, but plenty other incredibly talented dancers will be returning. Share your thoughts on the SYTYCD All Stars in the comments below.
