SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: The Top 12 on Kissing, Breaking the Rules and Ending Their Partnerships

For the last several weeks of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE, the contestants have been partnered up, bonding, and growing with each other as they tackled routines — some in their comfort zones and others decidedly not.
However, after Wednesday night’s performance show, things are about to change.
Not only did the duos have to tackle two different dance numbers this week, but they had to do so with the knowledge that whomever didn’t survive this elimination wouldn’t be going on the SYTYCD tour and these were the last routines they’d be doing as partners (starting next week, the top 10 will be performing with all-stars from previous seasons).
Give Me My Remote caught up with the top 12 dancers after the performance show and despite the pressures, they were in great moods.
Which duo snuck in some extra practice time? Which guy started dancing for his partner as soon as the cameras started rolling? And how do all of the dancers feel about splitting up?
Check out the videos for the answers…
Chris Colfer, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith to Graduate from GLEE

Have a heart, will ya? You can’t spring the news on a girl that one of her favorite TV stars is exiting their show while said girl is in the grocery store. I had to stow away to the neglected foreign food aisle just so I could shed a tear or two in somewhat privacy.
Yes, as the headline indicates, GLEE stars Chris Colfer, Lea Michele and Cory Monteith will indeed be leaving the show after this season. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, show creator Ryan Murphy confirmed their exit and said the stars will “not be back at all for season 4.”
Whoa. I will miss Rachel Berry and Finn Hudson, but a life without Kurt Hummel? Say it ain’t so.
Report: Kal Penn To Play HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Love Interest

In early 2009, he asked the producers of HOUSE if his character could be written off the show so that he could move to D.C. and work for the newly-elected President Obama.
Two and a half years later, however, Kal Penn’s White House stint is nearing its end and word is, he’s already booked his first acting gig back in L.A.
According to TVLine.com, Penn has landed a recurring role on the upcoming 7th season of HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, playing a love interest for Robin (Cobie Smulders).
Of course Penn is already pals with HIMYM actor Neil Patrick Harris, who co-starred alongside him in the HAROLD & KUMAR movies. Here’s hoping the MOTHER writers will pop a nod to the film franchise into at least one of Penn’s episodes.
Any thoughts on this casting?
Will you be glad to see Kal Penn back on TV… as Robin’s boyfriend?

CASTLE: Penny Johnson Jerald is the New Captain!

There’s a new captain in town.
ABC has confirmed to Give Me My Remote that Penny Johnson Jerald — who is perhaps best known for her role as 24’s Sherry Palmer — has landed the role of Captain Victoria Gates. The casting was first reported by TV Guide.
Gates is described as being “as by-the-book as they come” and has earned the nickname “Iron Gates” — and I can’t wait to see if Castle, Beckett, Esposito and Ryan dare call her that to her face.
What do you think of the casting choice? What you imagined? Or were you hoping for someone else?

Who would you like to see Caulfield play? A baddie the team has to take down?

RESCUE ME Season 7 Preview: ‘Mutha’ Premieres Tonight

Comments Off on RESCUE ME Season 7 Preview: ‘Mutha’ Premieres Tonight
The 7th and final season of RESCUE ME bows this evening and, for longtime fans, it does seem like these last batch of episodes will be a fitting swan song.
This first hour finds Tommy helping Sheila care for his brain-damaged Godson, Damien, whose disability he clearly feels responsible for since it happened on the job.
But Damien’s mom Sheila gets support from another unlikely source as well: Janet.
Yes, the fiery blaze between these two women has been extinguished and what’s left seems to be a common understanding and care for each other. I mean, Tommy actually comes home to find Sheila in his and Janet’s kitchen, making a sandwich for Katie and keeping an eye on the baby while Janet is out.
Janet can use the help, because she’s very pregnant at this point — though we as an audience are given the pleasure of seeing when and how her decision to keep this baby was made. Yes, it’s a very Gavin-esque scene to say the least.
But there’s quite a bit more going on as RESCUE ME season 7 debuts…
Black Shawn is thinking about proposing to Colleen — who is working at the bar for fellow alcoholics Mickey and Teddy at the moment (great idea, uh huh, yep) — and goes to Franco for advice.
And who is Tommy going to for advice? Besides Sheila, who’s delivering it unsolicited? Well, the ghosts of Christmas past are still popping up at the most troubling of moments, of course. Yes, we’ll see the familiar faces of cousin Jimmy, brother Johnny and daddy Tommy this evening. They may be gone, but they are never forgotten. Not by Tommy Gavin.
RESCUE ME season 7 premieres Wednesday at 10 p.m. on FX.
Will you watch?

It’s official: ABC and Global Television have picked up ROOKIE BLUE for a third season.
Rumors started circulating this weekend that the series had been renewed after star Missy Peregrym (Andy) tweeted that the show would be back next season, but an ABC rep said at the time that nothing was official.
When Give Me My Remote spoke with ROOKIE BLUE executive producer Tassie Cameron last month, she and the writers were already hard at work developing a potential season three and filming of the season will begin later this summer in Toronto.
Are you excited ROOKIE BLUE will be back?

The latest X FACTOR preview debuted during Tuesday night’s MLB All-Star Game and, well, things aren’t exactly how they seemed.
The 2:31 minute promo did show a teeny tiny bit of audition footage, but more than half of the commercial was scripted as Simon Cowell had an X FACTOR “nightmare.”
Still, fans of old-school AMERICAN IDOL won’t be surprised to see Cowell’s trademark bluntness or his fights with fellow judge, Paula Abdul from the audition footage.

Juliette Lewis and Callum Keith Rennie Join NBC’s THE FIRM

Comments Off on Juliette Lewis and Callum Keith Rennie Join NBC’s THE FIRM
NBC’s new series, THE FIRM, is filling out its cast: the network announced today via press release that Juliette Lewis and Callum Keith Rennie have joined the show.
Check out the official press release!
“Entertainment One (eOne), Sony Pictures Television Networks, NBC and Global are proud to announce that Juliette Lewis (“Natural Born Killers,” “Cape Fear”) and Callum Keith Rennie (“The Killing,” “Californication”) are signed on to star in the new legal drama series “The Firm,” based on John Grisham’s best-selling novel and executive-produced by Grisham and Lukas Reiter. Lewis and Rennie join Josh Lucas (“The Lincoln Lawyer,” “Sweet Home Alabama”) who was previously announced to star as attorney Mitchell McDeere (the role originated by Tom Cruise in the film). David Straiton (“House,” “Fringe”) is confirmed to direct the pilot episode which will commence production in Toronto this August. Helen Shaver (“Judging Amy,” NBC’s “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit”) has also joined the series as a producer and will direct multiple episodes.
“Lewis, am Oscar, Golden Globe and Emmy Award nominated actress, will play Tammy, Mitch’s feisty, sexy receptionist, whose work life is made all the more tumultuous by her on-again, off-again relationship with Mitch’s brother, Ray. With a personality as arresting as her ever-changing hair color, Tammy is leery when Mitch accepts a deal to partner with a top law practice, as she’s not cut out for the conservative culture of a white shoe firm. Rennie is tapped to play Ray McDeere, Mitch’s charming yet volatile older brother whose work as an investigator in Mitch’s office is uniquely informed by his past stretch in prison for manslaughter. Despite a “highly un-ambitious” nature that stands in stark contrast to his Harvard-grad brother, Ray shares one key quality with Mitch: a loyalty that is unbreakable.
“Based on the blockbuster feature film and the best-selling novel of 1991 by world-renowned author Grisham (“The Pelican Brief,” “The Client”), “The Firm” continues the story of attorney Mitchell McDeere (Lucas) who, as a young associate, brought down the prestigious Memphis law firm of Bendini, Lambert & Locke, which operated as a front for the Chicago mob. After a difficult decade, McDeere and his family now emerge from isolation to reclaim their lives and their future — only to find that past dangers are still lurking and new threats are everywhere.”
