HAVEN Co-Creator Sam Ernst Teases Jason Priestley’s Guest Spot
August 5, 2011 by Marisa Roffman
On tonight’s brand new episode of HAVEN, a former BEVERLY HILLS 90210 star will be making his series debut in a role that’s, well, a bit mysterious.
HAVEN co-creator Sam Ernst was kind enough to tease Jason Priestley’s role on the show…
“Jason Priestley’s actually important, and he’s got a very interesting character,” Ernst teased. “He did a great job and I’m not just saying that because that’s what people say, he really was interesting and a total pro. He’s actually directing episode nine, [too]. The big thing with him is, we wanted to create a character that was not immediately likable, but we needed to like him. And that is a tough needle to thread. We needed someone like Jason Priestley to do it and he totally did it. And why we need to like him is not the generic way to like all our characters. It’s very specific to a couple reasons why he’s in the show.”
While you may recall that Ernst is a bit spoiler-phobic, he did allow that Priestley’s arrival might be related to a character we already know.
“It has to do with why he’s in that first episode he appears in,” Ernst said. “And why he sticks around for a little while…He has some scenes that are just beautiful. When I was watching the [scenes], it just took my breath away.”
