LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT: Carmelo Anthony, Chris Bosh, Mehcad Brooks, Heavy D and Dan Lauria to Guest Star
August 22, 2011 by Marisa Roffman
LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT is taking on some big name guest stars for an upcoming basketball episode.
According to the NBC, “NBA stars Carmelo Anthony (New York Knicks) and Chris Bosh (Miami Heat) will play themselves in cameo guest appearances on an upcoming episode of the hit Wolf Films/Universal Media Studios series LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT. In the episode “Personal Fouls” ([airing]Wednesday, September 28 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on NBC) a youth basketball coach played by Dan Lauria (THE WONDER YEARS, “Lombardi” on Broadway) is under suspicion as a sexual predator. Mehcad Brooks (NECESSARY ROUGHNESS, TRUE BLOOD) plays Prince Miller, a fictional basketball superstar who was once one of the coach’s prodigies. Rapper/actor Heavy D plays Miller’s cousin and business manager, Supreme. Anthony and Bosh will appear in the opening scene and episode climax.”
While SVU has done sports-based episodes in the past (after 12 seasons, you’d be hard-pressed to find a topic they haven’t covered), I’m intrigued to see why Bosh and Anthony are not only in the opening scene, but also at the end of the hour. It feels like if they were involved in the crime, a) they wouldn’t be playing themselves and b) they wouldn’t announce it beforehand.
Which of the named guest stars are you most excited to see on SVU?
