Oh, Thursday night TV. If I was to have a mortal enemy of TV nights (a la Sheldon’s feud with Wil Wheaton), it would be Thursday. I’m fairly certainly Thursday kicked my butt this week (a fact I blame entirely on THE X FACTOR’s two hour episode), but there was still plenty of TV. (And I’ll have my revenge next Thursday.)
So let’s talk about what aired!

Good news for fans of ABC’s new shows SUBURGATORY and REVENGE — the network has picked up both freshmen series for their back nine episodes!
In addition to that good news, the network has also ordered an additional six scripts for the sophomore comedy, HAPPY ENDINGS. While it’s not as great as full season pick up, it’s certainly a step in the right direction.

In case you needed another reason to love Twitter, Josh Groban shared during a conference call today that the social media site played a big part in him securing the guest role of THE OFFICE’s Walter Bernard Jr., younger brother of newly appointed office manager Andy.
“[THE OFFICE star/producer Mindy Kaling] direct messaged twittered me and I was shocked to hear from her,” he explained. And, as it turns out, Groban is a huge fan of the show and had time off from his tour, so he was able to accept the guest spot.
So what can you expect from the Bernard family in “Garden Party”?
About Last Night…PSYCH, SUBURGATORY, AMERICAN HORROR STORY and HAPPY ENDINGS

Wednesday was one of those nights where I knew I had a ton of stuff to watch…and yet I barely made a dent.
It’s entirely probable most of my distraction was due to the season premiere of PSYCH. The show is truly one of my personal television highlights, and I’m so glad it’s back. Lassiter hooking up Juliet to a “broken” lie detector machine as a means of getting her to admit she was in a relationship with Shawn? So wrong and yet so right. And while the show had teased Lassiter hooking up Shawn to the same machine and asking him if he was a psychic, you just knew Henry had taught Shawn to beat those things as a kid. (Something that was confirmed in a flashback we got at the episode.) However…if we’re to buy into the Shawn/Juliet romance, can he at least clue her in to his act soon? I’m having difficulty buying into them as a couple, given the major lie we know is standing between them.

After a completely off-the-walls premiere which established that anything and everything could happen in the Harmons’ new mansion, AMERICAN HORROR STORY settled down a bit in episode two – which is to say, it contained ipecac syrup cupcakes, 1960s murder reenactors, and a mirror-filled punishment closet for Addy, but, you know, no gimp suits or Dylan McDermott masturbation. So that’s something.

Darn baseball!*
Due to a rain delay in tonight’s Major League baseball playoff game between the Rangers and the Tigers, the scheduled two-hour episode of THE X FACTOR won’t be airing tonight.
Per Fox, “Due to tonight’s rain delay of Game #4 of the American League Championship Series, the start of the highly anticipated “Judges’ Homes” round of THE X FACTOR is postponed until tomorrow, Thursday, Oct. 13 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. Part Two of the “Judges’ Homes” round will now air Sunday, Oct. 16 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) (if no ALCS Game #7). As previously announced, the third and final part of the “Judges’ Homes” round will air Tuesday, Oct. 18 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). ”
So…let’s hope there isn’t a need for a game 7, okay?
*I might not be saying that if my team was in the playoffs.
