NBC Greenlights a Pilot for Bryan Fuller’s THE MUNSTERS Reboot
November 16, 2011 by Marisa Roffman
Dearest NBC,
There has been a serious lack of Bryan Fuller shows on our television boxes lately. In fact, it’s actually been more than two years since my beloved PUSHING DAISIES went off the air, and with the exception of Fuller’s brief return to HEROES’s writing staff, we’ve been sans his work for that entire period.
But now, after a week where you angered fans by benching COMMUNITY and it was revealed you planned to air new episodes of CHUCK in late December, you’ve given us something to potentially look forward to — you’ve greenlit a pilot for Bryan Fuller’s newest baby, a reboot of the classic series THE MUNSTERS. (I mean, seriously, don’t you want a showrunner who tweets the news of his pilot being ordered by saying, “THE MUNSTERS pilot light is as green as Herman himself” and including a pic?)
Of course, greenlighting a pilot is only one of many steps towards actually getting a show on the air. I completely realize there is a long way to go and there will be dozens of shows that will undergo this same process and ultimately won’t make it to air. But all the same, for at least today, I’m thankful we’re one step closer to possibly getting another Bryan Fuller show back on television.
PS – How many of you are hoping this MUNSTERS reboot goes forward?
