About Last Night…THE X FACTOR
December 8, 2011 by Marisa Roffman
Much like Tuesday night’s shenanigans, Wednesday night I was only able to watch one show due to work commitments: THE X FACTOR.
Hopefully you guys watched a bit more, so let’s talk about last night’s television…
While Melanie killed the Mariah Carey/Whitney Houston “When You Believe” duet, I was a little less impressed by her rendition of Adele’s “Someone Like You.” Is that really a dance hit? It felt like they found a song she could belt and then put a dance beat to it.
But seriously, how did someone frak up so badly that the contestants learned less than 24 hours before airtime that they couldn’t sing their second song? If that was sincere mistake, wow. If that was manufactured for television, that’s a shame, too. These people are talented and if they were told to do one thing, they shouldn’t be jerked around.
The one good thing about the mix up (aside from Melanie’s “WYB”)? Chris Rene’s original song. He’s always shined the most when he’s allowed to do his own music, and last night was no exception. That was the performance of the night for me.
(Oh, and I can’t believe Nicole called Chris “Josh” and no one called her out on that.)
Given the five million shows on television last night (PSYCH! MODERN FAMILY! SUBURGATORY! HAPPY ENDINGS!), I want to know what you watched. And if you watched AMERICAN HORROR STORY, make sure to weigh in on Ben’s recap!
