‘We Have Thoughts’ Vodcast: Danielle and Marisa Grade 5 Comedies

It’s time for another vodcast!
During the last installment, my friend Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) and I graded the current seasons of five drama shows we both watch. Now, it’s time for the comedies to shine.
Below, we grade HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, MODERN FAMILY, HAPPY ENDINGS, RAISING HOPE and SUBURGATORY. To clarify how we graded each show, we only are grading the most current season of the show (up to the last episode it aired in 2011), and the grade is a reflection of how it held up in comparison to its own previous seasons, not to television in general. As for SUBURGATORY, it’s just what we think of the first season so far.
Take a look at how we graded these comedy series!
The Best (and Worst) Leading Ladies of 2011
December 26, 2011 by Rachel Bennett

The year is almost over, and looking back on 2011’s new shows, there is an obvious trend: Women rule.
All aside from a few of 2011’s new shows feature a female protagonist. Even the few shows that don’t have a leading lady make a big deal of reaffirming that, hey, male protagonists do exist! Just look at the titles for LAST MAN STANDING, HOW TO BE A GENTLEMAN and MAN UP.
See what I mean?
To celebrate this TV sisterhood, I’m going to name my three favorite TV leading ladies of the year. And just for fun, I’m going to name my three least favorite leading ladies because, let’s be honest, not all of them are that great.
But because I don’t have time to watch all of these new female-focused shows, we’re going to let you vote for your favorite and least favorite leading ladies of 2011. So don’t get mad at me because I don’t choose Emma from ONCE UPON A TIME or Carrie from HOMELAND, okay?

We have a winner!
THE X FACTOR’s first season came to a (teary) conclusion Thursday night, and by the time Give Me My Remote caught up with the winner and their mentor/judge backstage, both were still riding high on their victory. (And yes, thanks to a bet between judges, there was some money at stake for them, too.)

It’s all come down to this — they’ve survived months of auditions, heading to the judges’ homes, live performance shows and the crazy Simon-L.A. feud. And with a $5 million dollar prize and a Pepsi commercial on the line, it was a very big night for Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene.

We may be days away from Christmas, but if the photos from the next episode of GLEE, “Yes/No,” are any indication, it appears like the McKinley kids will be embracing some “Summer Nights” when the show returns in January. (Yes, that is a GREASE reference. If you don’t know that song, please go watch this immediately.)
So which kids will be taking the role of Danny and Sandy? And which REAL HOUSEWIFE is heading to GLEE? Take a look…

PARKS AND RECREATION: Why You Should Be Watching
December 22, 2011 by Rachel Bennett
Filed under #1 featured, Parks & Recreation
As I was studying for my Media Ethics final recently, a terrifying realization came over me: Because of my procrastination (I totally had to wash laundry, clean the bathroom and go grocery shopping before studying…) I was going to have to miss PARKS AND RECREATION.
This was pretty much a SOPHIE’S CHOICE-type decision for me. Should I keep studying for an exam I had to do well on or catch up with my favorite Pawnee government employees?
It was a tough choice, but I had to do what Leslie Knope would’ve done: Hit the books.
I reluctantly stayed in my room as 8:30 p.m. approached, but after my final ended the next day, I didn’t immediately catch up on the beauty sleep I so desperately needed. No, I instead caught up on PARKS AND RECREATION.
So why have I told you this story? Because PARKS AND RECREATION is the best comedy on TV, and I’m absolutely obsessed in love with it. So much so that my roommate and I may or may not have a framed pictured of Li’l Sebastian near our TV … I will leave you to answer that.
Because there are so many good shows on TV, we can’t cover them all on GMMR. But I just want to let you all in on what a great show PARKS AND RECREATION is and to celebrate the show’s success with those of you who already know.

What a performance finale!
THE X FACTOR’s final three tore it up on stage last night, and while the judges were confident in their performers, backstage after the show, they also admitted it could go any way when the results are revealed Thursday night.
Take a look at what judges Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and L.A. Reid had to say about the performance finale when they spoke with reporters last night. Plus, THE X FACTOR creative director Brian Friedman talks about the first season journey so far…
