Fox News and Notes From TCA: HOUSE, TERRA NOVA, THE X FACTOR and More

It’s Fox TCA day, which means there are a lot of things being said about your favorite shows. Check out some of the biggest news, courtesy of the executive session with Kevin Reilly and the post-panel interviews…

HOUSE – “I think we’ve just been avoiding [discussing whether it’s the last season],” Reilly admitted. “It’s hard to imagine the network without HOUSE.”

If you were worried the show’s fate would be undecided before the finale of this season is conceived, Reilly indicated that won’t be a problem.

“Should it be the last season, it will not be an unceremonious finish,” he said.

But even if Fox chooses to not go ahead with a ninth season, technically NBCUniversal (which owns the show), could shop it to another network: “It could [continue on] and that would be their business.”

However, don’t keep your fingers crossed that any HOUSE characters will be getting a spinoff of their own whenever the series comes to an end.

“David just never creatively found something that excited him,” Reilly noted.

TERRA NOVA – Much like HOUSE, the fate of TERRA NOVA will be decided in the coming months, well before the normal May Upfront schedule.

“We’ve done a good job at avoiding some of these decisions until after this [TCA] session,” Reilly joked. He acknowledged the show had some struggles, but added: “I love the cast, I love some of the episodes.”

THE X FACTOR – While it may not have gotten the ratings Simon Cowell hoped it would, the singing competition led Fox to “one of the strongest falls we’ve had in our history,” Reilly said. “We’re consistently almost always winning Thursday nights.”

As for all the speculation about the changes that might occur next season, all Reilly would say is that “there will be some changes. ”
