NCIS: Mark Harmon and Executive Producer Gary Glasberg Talk About Reaching Episode 200

January 12, 2012 by

NCIS is not only one of the biggest shows on television, but the cast and crew have another reason to celebrate — the show is celebrating its 200th episode soon!

So what can fans expect from the episode?

“There’s a certain element to the season that’s been about decisions that our characters have faced and decisions moving forward and decisions looking back,” executive producer Gary Glasberg said during his show’s TCA panel on Wednesday. “And as far back as last summer, I sort of had a sense of what I wanted the episode to be. And it very much is about a pivotal moment — starts with a pivotal moment for Gibbs that he faces.  And the episode is called ‘Life Before His Eyes,’ and it literally looks back at key moments throughout nine years of NCIS where decisions have had to be made and, had people gone one direction instead of another…how the world would have ended up. And it brings back familiar faces, old faces, faces fans aren’t going to think…that they’d see again.  It was a lot of fun.  It was a challenge, but it was a lot of fun, and I’m very excited to see it put together.”

For series star Mark Harmon (Gibbs), he’s just thankful the series has remained strong all these years into production

“This remains fresh,” he said. “We just celebrated 200 episodes. It doesn’t feel like 200 episodes. Doesn’t feel like nine years…it’s always been about the work. We haven’t talked about this before we came out, but I think everybody here would say that these writers continue to challenge us, and there’s new things in these characters all the time. And you might play something for six years, and all of a sudden the seventh find out that something you’ve been playing was a little bit changed, you know. But that’s because these writers keep digging. And the challenge is still there.”

Who do you hope pops back up in the 200th episode of NCIS? And can you believe they’ve already almost reached 200?

    Great Great show!
But, latest series seems to have omitted the first interactions of the team, always amusing, right before the case is assigned AND the fabulous Ziva’isms – they were priceless. Both these omissions detract from the charaterizations and audience attachment to the personages in the series, which is one of the many reasons to keep watching! Pls bring these back!

    To Whom It May Concern,
I’d like to begin by saying “that I’m a very big fan of your show!!” There is just one small thing I have to complain about it. It’s related to the fast, random, bright camera flashes in between scenes you do throughout the show. I have the neurological problem called Epilepsy/Seizures & one of the things that can trigger a Seizure is bright flashes. It gets tiring for me having to close my eyes ea. time the flashes go off. I’d appreciate it very much if you would eliminate/remove them from your show.

    Thank you very much,

I am very distracted with the LOUD MUSIC on the show!!!!! It is so loud you can’t hear the conversation on the show. I LOVE the show. I’ve just noticed the LOUD MUSIC for the past few months. I HATE THE MUSIC!!!! Just passing on my opinion as a very loyal fan of the show. Love the other NCIS series also. Watch them ALL!!!! Hope the music doesn’t become a permanent thing on the shows!!! Thanks for letting vent!!!!!
