RINGER Creators Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder Tease the Show’s Return
January 31, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
RINGER is back with a brand new episode tonight, and with Siobhan back in New York, things have taken a new turn.
“It just felt like the conceit of having Siobhan in Paris was perfect for the first chapter and we just wanted to amp things up,” co-creator Eric Charmelo told reporters last week. “And we’re having fun playing with the twinning of it all by having the two sisters in the same city simultaneously. And interacting and interweaving with at least one side unaware.”
“It also came off the idea if you want something done right, do it yourself,” co-creator Nicole Snyder added. “So Siobhan was plotting from afar and she couldn’t get what she wanted, so she had to come back and do it herself…she’ll be around for a little while.”
One of the main things Siobhan wants? Henry!
Unfortunately, since Bridget has taken to impersonating her presumed-dead sister, she has made it clear she wants nothing to do with him, which could complicate the Henry-Siobhan relationship.
“There’s a lot of umbrellas that the second half of the season fall under,” Charmelo said. “One of the big umbrellas is Bridget and Andrew’s burgeoning relationship. Another umbrella is Siobhan and Henry salvaging their relationship.”
Yep, the tides have changed from the first part of the season which was largely Bridget-centric.
“I think the focus largely in the first part of the season was, we call it the Gemma chapter, as well as Bridget taking on her sister’s identity,” Snyder said. “I think the focus shifts to Siobhan and her revenge plot heavily in the second half of the season.”
“And also Bridget trying to unearth the mystery of who’s trying to kill her sister,” Charmelo added. “Why and how she can stop it so she can continue to live as Siobhan. And that’s something she will discover by the end of the season.”
But at what cost? While the creators were tight-lipped about specifics, they confirmed there are character deaths coming our way.
“It becomes a bloodbath by the end of the season,” Charmelo said. “I think there will be more dead characters than living characters by the end of the season.”
Main characters? “Yes,” he confirmed.
Hm…
Who do you think will kick the bucket? And are you excited that Siobhan is going to stay for a bit in New York?
