About Last Night…GLEE, COUGAR TOWN, RAISING HOPE, and More!
February 15, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
It may have been Valentine’s Day, but that doesn’t mean TV took any time off. In fact, some pretty major things went down last night, so let’s talk about them!
Hey! I enjoyed GLEE! This is a pretty big deal. I was a little worried when I heard there were going to be 8 songs, but between Amber Riley’s “I Will Always Love You,” and Kevin McHale’s “Let Me Love You,” I actually enjoyed them all. I’m really interested to see how far the show takes the Kurt/Karofsky unrequited feelings situation. And do we think Rachel and Finn will actually get married before the season concludes? (But really, Sugar is still annoying.)
I am so angry with RINGER right now that trying to use non-curse words is actually difficult. It’s not that I wanted Juliet to be raped, but not giving us any indication that this was a get-rich-quick scheme is so infuriating. The show is reminding me that I should have absolutely no investment in these characters, because for all we know, they could be doing a ton of things without us knowing. If we don’t get a hint of their real motives, there is no reason for me to care.
COUGAR TOWN is back! Yay! It was basically the world’s worst kept secret that Grayson and Jules would get engaged in the season premiere, but I still found myself tearing up when he got down on one knee and asked her to marry him. Only Grayson could make being surrounded by toilet paper romantic. I did love that Bobby didn’t simply grin and be happy for his friends — given he was married to Jules for a very long time, I’m so happy he had a brief moment of…regret? I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I liked that their past wasn’t swept under the rug just to make it a clean, happy occasion.
Speaking of romantic, RAISING HOPE made my heart happy. Jimmy recruiting the improv group to reenact his relationship with Sabrina — and to simultaneously explain to her why he duped her with a fake girlfriend — was incredible. When RAISING HOPE creator Greg Garcia teased that they had plans for the duo for Valentine’s Day, I never imagined it would be quite that epic. Who knows where the future will take them, but that was just an absolutely charming episode.
Is anyone else still watching UNFORGETTABLE? I really enjoy the show, but I’ve found myself missing the exploration of Carrie and Al’s past relationship over the last few episodes. I know there’s only so far they can take it before it becomes frustrating, but hopefully we’ll touch back on that soon.

Loved Raising Hope so much…I couldn’t stop smiling after watching it! And Baby Hope’s reaction shot when Sabrina ran out of the theatre was perfection!
