GLEE: ‘The Spanish Teacher’…Oh, Dios Mío

Even you die hard ‘GLEE-can-do-no-wrong’ers’ out there have to admit that despite Ricky Martin’s dashing good looks, dazzling white teeth and hot hip action, this week’s episode was rather miserable. And you know an episode of GLEE is bad when not even the musical performances can save it. Ay caramba!
Was I the only one that went back to the beginning of the episode to make sure Mr. Schue didn’t write ‘Inappropriate’ on his white board of bad themes? There were so many things that were just plain wrong about this episode that I found myself echoing Mercedes anthem “Hell to the No’. Read more
THE RIVER Series Premiere Preview

Comments Off on THE RIVER Series Premiere Preview
There’s a brand new show debuting on ABC tonight, and THE RIVER really is genuinely unlike anything else on our televisions right now.
According to ABC, THE RIVER “follows the story of world famous wildlife expert and TV personality Dr. Emmet Cole, host of the beloved series ‘The Undiscovered Country.’ After Cole goes missing deep in the Amazon, his family, friends and crew set out on a mysterious and deadly journey to find him. Led by his wife, Tess, and estranged son, Lincoln, the rescue mission will take them deep into the unexplored reaches on the Amazon River. A place where nature is cruel, magic is real, and nothing is what it seems.”
After screening the first two hours, I can say the show also reminded me a bit of the LOST pilot (there is a vaguely smoke monster-esque vibe at one point), and the camera work is vaguely CLOVERFIELD-y, so it’s going to be interesting to see how it plays out in it first season.
Are you intrigued? Take a look at a few clips and a featurette from THE RIVER!
THE FINDER First Look Photos: BONES’ TJ Thyne Crosses Over, Eric Roberts and Jason Beghe Guest Star

BONES may be off the air for a little bit longer, but a bit of the Jeffersonian is heading to THE FINDER with Thursday, February 23rd’s hour — not only is TJ Thyne (Hodgins) guest starring in the episode, but as you’ll see in the pictures below, Hodgins and Walter seem to be conducting an interview in a familiar BONES location.
Take a look at the photos from “Little Green Men,” which also include guest stars Eric Roberts and Jason Beghe!

Holy Monday night TV!
Given how many shows are on Monday nights, surely I can’t be the only one who needs an actual schedule to try and figure out how to fit it all in, right? (Or maybe I am the only one who goes that far…)
Either way, let’s talk about last night’s television!

After last week’s RINGER, I’m excited to see if Siobhan will tell Henry the truth about everything in tonight’s new episode. I’m guessing she won’t, but I can hold out hope … right?
If you’re looking for something else to watch, check out the two-hour premiere of THE RIVER or Ricky Martin on GLEE. It’s an exciting night for TV, so look below to figure out what you’ll be watching!
NCIS | 8pm on CBS
“Life Before His Eyes”
During a routine stop for his morning coffee, Gibbs finds himself staring down the barrel of a gun, forcing him to question choices he has made in the past and present, on the 200th episode of NCIS. [Have you seen what Mark Harmon and producer Gary Glasberg said about reaching episode 200?]
The Biggest Loser | 8pm on NBC
“Episode 6”
In this season of “no excuses,” this week’s challenge addresses the excuse “I can’t lose weight on my own.” Trainers Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince are suspended over water in a wild dunk tank-like challenge in which the red and black teams have to use their strength to keep a weight from landing their trainer in the pool. The losing team has to do without their trainer all week until the last chance workout. Once the losing team is determined, one contestant admirably steps up to lead their group while their trainer is away, with none of them aware that he is secretly watching how they do in his absence. Later, a very heated elimination sends another player home after a tense weigh-in to see how both teams did this week.
Glee | 8pm on Fox
“The Spanish Teacher”
Will assigns the glee club a Spanish singing assignment, and enlists the help of his musically-inclined night school teacher (guest star Ricky Martin). Meanwhile, Rachel spills the beans to Kurt and Mercedes on Finn’s marriage proposal, and Mercedes has love complications of her own.
Last Man Standing | 8 & 8:30pm on ABC
“House of Spirits”/”Tree of Strife”
When Vanessa gives Mike a history of their house for his birthday, they discover that a woman who once lived there over 100 years ago died upstairs. Now the family, especially Vanessa, suspects the mysterious things going on in the house are linked to the woman’s ghost. Meanwhile, Ed claims to never have cash on him and keeps borrowing from the money-strapped Kyle.
When the overzealous Mandy gets the chance to meet her idol, Kim Kardashian, things don’t go exactly as planned, but the outcome is better than she could have ever imagined. Meanwhile, Mike doesn’t want “The Man” ordering him to cut down a damaged tree on his own property and rallies the family to protest down at City Hall.
90210 | 8pm on The CW
“No Good Deed”
In an effort to put her inheritance to good use, Annie volunteers to organize a big charity fundraiser. When Naomi takes drastic measures to land her first event-planning client, her big plan back-fires. Meanwhile, Silver realizes she still has feelings for Navid, and Vanessa vows to make Liam a huge star after his agent drops him.

SMASH Recap: Season Premiere
February 7, 2012 by Erik Wilkinson

When Robert Greenblatt took over as NBC Entertainment Chairman in early 2011, he inherited a tragic kingdom of shrinking viewership and devalued brands. Unable to demonstrate patience in building new programs from the ground up, a luxury of his previous post at Showtime, Greenblatt invested in projects with marquee value and high profile names attached. You may remember them better as THE PLAYBOY CLUB, PRIME SUSPECT, and THE FIRM.
To his credit, NBC’s new prime time leader swings for the fences. Greenblatt brought more than a resume with him from pay cable. He arrived to the Peacock Network with a passion project, a backstage look at Broadway, simply titled SMASH.
If this week’s premiere is any indication, SMASH is NBC’s most aspirational new program since FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, with all the ingredients necessary to attract a large mainstream audience. Armed with an exceptional cast, a unique take on the competitive world of Broadway, and a rich menu of storylines to follow, SMASH must become NBC’s signature hour of television.

Comments Off on THE VOICE’s Vicci Martinez Talks About Her Season 1 Journey and Advice for the New Contestants
With a new season of THE VOICE just starting up, we’re just getting to know the contestants who will make up Team Adam, Team Blake, Team Cee Lo, and Team Christina. And it might be a little weird, but despite the talented singers we’ve already seen, I miss the contestants we had last year already.
I caught up with season 1’s Vicci Martinez to get her thoughts on her journey on the show as part of Team Cee Lo, what she’s been up to, and what advice she has for the newest batch of singers…
