Who Went Home on AMERICAN IDOL?
March 8, 2012 by Kath Skerry
It was the guys vs. the girls in the first week of head-to-head competition on AMERICAN IDOL. This week the guys took on Stevie while the girls had the daunting task of performing numbers from Whitney Houston’s songbook. There were some stand out performances and a few big flops. But it’s not about what happened on the stage as much as is it what happened after the show when America placed their votes.
In a bit of a twist (a la SYTYCD) the guy and the gal with the lowest votes faced the judges and Randy, J Lo and Steven decided who was staying and who was leaving.
So who was in the bottom group tonight? Who said their final farewell to IDOL? Keep reading to find out.
Tonight’s bottom three guys:
Jermaine
Jeremy
Joshua
And the bottom three ladies:
Elyse
Shannon
Erika
In the end it was Jeremy and Elyse up for elimination. Thhe judges decided it was time for Jeremy to say goodbye. Elyse (and her scowl and bad attitude) get to stay on for another week.
I had hoped for the opposite choice, but that’s just me.
Was Jeremy the right person to go home? Weigh in below.

I missed the show, thanks for the recap!
Interesting “twist”… would be nice if they got a chance to sing for their life too. Since I didn’t see the scowl/bad attitude — purely based on their wednesday performance, I’d have kept Jeremy. I thought he did a little better. Also his “I Know You Won’t” is still one of my fav performances of this season so far. Sad to see him go.
