About Last Night…THE VAMPIRE DIARIES, THE OFFICE, AWAKE and More
March 16, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
Thursday TV always feels massive, even when half of my shows aren’t on.
Tons of television to talk about, so let’s get started!
Sometimes it’s a disservice to know things about a show before it premieres, but I watched the first 15-ish minutes of the MISSING pilot and was annoyed it took so long to bring up the CIA angle. Obviously from there on it amped up and it wasn’t swept under the rug, but was I the only one that bothered? Either way, I’m intrigued to see how this plays out and how they’ll balance enough progress in Becca’s search while still keeping it plausibly delayed for at least 10 episodes.
Troy and Abed being normal?! Oh, COMMUNITY. That may have been the strangest thing you’ve ever done. This isn’t a show I can keep up with every week (at least not in a timely manner), but I’m glad the return was strong.
Alaric, how could you?! Well, sure, it may not have been his fault, but that VAMPIRE DIARIES twist (that he’s the serial killer) sure threw me for a loop. It’s really, really, really unfortunate there is a certain bit of pilot casting news floating around there for someone on the show because if they do end up being axed, a really amazing surprise would have been ruined. But alas, that’s the nature of the business. And I know that the show can’t dive into the past too often, but I always enjoy when they do.
You (unsuccessfully) take on “One Sweet Day” on AMERICAN IDOL, you get the boot. Sad, but true. Sorry, Shannon.
We’re this far into THE SECRET CIRCLE‘s first season and my interest in the adults and their storylines still outweighs my investment in the kids. RIP Lee. Too bad you won’t be sticking around. (And Faye is going to be pissed when she finds out what your ex did.)
I really don’t like Catherine Tate’s character on THE OFFICE, so last night’s episode wasn’t my cup of tea. Andy and Erin’s reunion made me a little bittersweet, because I don’t see any way I’ll ever care as much about a couple on the show as I did when Jim and Pam got together. Sure, it’s fine that Erin and Andy are back together, but I felt that reunion lacked the punch I hoped it would carry.
I know the whole point of the show isn’t to figure out what’s real in the AWAKE realities, but right now, I’m leaning towards his son being dead and his wife being alive. (This is subject to change 5 more times before the season ends.) I really loved last night’s episode and while Jason Isaacs (Michael) is always breathtaking, I was so glad to see some really great moments for Laura Allen (Hannah) and Dylan Minnette (Rex).
