FRINGE: Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman on An Upcoming Major Reveal, a Potential Season 5, Episode 19 and More
March 18, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
It’s no secret FRINGE executive producers Jeff Pinkner and J.H. Wyman like to keep their cards close to the vest when it comes to spoilers for the series, but they were in a surprisingly revealing mood Sunday before their WonderCon panel.
Not only were the showrunners willing to elaborate (a teeny tiny bit) on the much-discussed episode 19, but they also shared that a major season-long debate will be settled in this Friday’s brand new episode.
Intrigued? Take a look at what else they told reporters, including a director change for the season finale, and their thoughts on a potential season 5…

I hate the idea of Olivia only being able to use her abilities with Peter, and if she is not even able to taht, final nail in her coffin.
So here for my theory from 4.14: Olivia knows her abilities, as she only said something about needing Peter there , but nothing about the Jones bomb, as you would expect after spending some time with Jones. So she makes up a story, as she only needed Peter in case she had a seizure. She probably fried her stepfather that way.
Because turning on the lights And deliberately killing people while doing so, is completely different from turning of lights like in 1.14.
Cameron in Subject 9 asked Olivia if she had side effects, headaches, she said no, but she knew about the headaches long before Wallflower, In wallflower she said she thought she would not need the medicine anymore, and she went to the FBI doctor already for a month in 4.10, why not dear Nina?
So Olivia Dunham will have her abilities on her own accord, one of them being able to have an empathy as being the person who the other wants her to be, Walter and Nina want a daughter more or less.
Olivia could feel what Nick Lane felt, John Scotts memories, William Bell etc.
She could make it snow from reading a book, make it rain at the end of 4.14.
And 4.19 with what Blair said could just be a bit like I thought would be an interesting idea, with the spectecular awesome Anna Torv (As the showrunneres like that word) as a David Bowie female version from the film/book man who fell to earth, and Astrid Fansworth, being her partner, as Farnsworth was his partner.
Fits with Blair saying everyone a bit different, and the Bowie character was a bit the head of an Massive Dynamics.
I would love that anyway, would give Olivia her importance back and move away from soapdanger.
So you ask them about is Olivia the right Olivia, and they go great you should love this Olivia, it all so passes, and not a mention of how extraordinary that is that you talk about all those versions/characters and 1 and the same actress, even the same make-up and hair and clothes?
Anna is the only one who truly created a different Olivia in 4.01 and onwards , and a different fauxlivia, who will probably change as well.
Who will be directing now, besides Joe Chapelle?
BTW very dissapointed that Wyman and Pinkner did not mention Anna, Jasika and Lance, especialy Anna as she is the lead, always has been on every event, and when Jackson is not there alwasy has to talk about him, with Pinkner always excusing him.
I know she worked long idiotic hours from crew tweets, would be nice to mention that.
I’m of the opposite mind. The showrunners are absolutely right in putting restrictions on Olivia’s powers and making that Peter just adds to their relationship.
Give us season 5 please.
Is that comment up there meant to be a parody of Anna, posting that stuff? I thought she was much more gracious than that, with it being an ensemble show and all. If it’s satire, I don’t get it.
Looking forward to this episode a lot, and to 4.19 too!
I would love a 5th season……bring it on!
No, that’s just one of our two Fringe fans who need some help in getting a sense of perspective. That’s the one who’s obsessed with Anna Torv (and then there’s the other one who’s obsessed with Josh Jackson not getting enough screentime or whatever.)
I saw some filming pix from Episode 419 and it does indeed look very strange.
I love the show, I would love a another season, but if we don’t get it then please resolve the plot for us. Don’t leave us dangling…
I enjoy the show so much and look forward to all the twists and turns. I just wish the other Olivia didn’t have the red wig. Couldn’t they have made her different without all that hair? It’s just flat out ugly.
PLEASE give us a season 5!!!!!! Fringe is the best show on tv!!!!!!!!
So much to respond to, but all I’ll say for now is that I REALLY WANT A SEASON 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I absolutely love this show.
I love Fringe. Please one more chance Fringe will be renewal 5 season.
because it’s rating 1.2 good. I offer you Fringe will be tv show on Monday but
they always go out Friday tonight every that why.
I would absolutely LOVE another season of Fringe. Please please please keep this show going.
Please, please give us a season 5!!
Please Give us a Season 5 @WARNER & @FOX
Plzzzz give us 5 season!!
Being a fan of Fringe, is always speculating their renewals for next season, seeking the answers to the smallest details of the episodes, trying to somehow coordinate their ideas, what are the relationships and interconnections between the Fringe team, the alt-Fringe team, the shapeshifters, the Observers, universes Blue, Red, Past, Present and Future … Or: “.. which of Olivia, Olivia’s you?” As well: “Peter never existed, but he is” existing “as ever!” … Finally, Fringe is really a wonderful magical world, multi-faceted, multi-universal that fascinates us, more and more. Therefore, in view of this, I earnestly ask: “… please FOX and WB, renew Fringe for a 5th season!”
Christopher you don’t need a PhD do understand that this input poster is a crazy troll.Donna nailed it.
intelligent writing, complex plots, solid acting and fascinating characters combine to make “Fringe” compelling television viewing. The fact that it isn’t a major commercial success is more a comment on the potential audience than the quality of the show.
I absolutely love this show!
Please do not let it end.
First…would be so pissed if I find out that Peter isn’t in the real universe and this isn’t the real Olivia. How many times can they make him fall in love with the wrong Olivia? It wouldn’t be right! They need to be together!
Second…even more pissed if FOX denies us another season! If they don’t, I would really hope that some other network would see how great the show is and pick it up…SciFi would be a great fit.
