About Last Night… THE VOICE, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, and HART OF DIXIE

April 10, 2012 by

With CBS and CW fully back in the game, Mondays are craaaaazy.

Let’s discuss what went down last night…

Someone drank some cranky juice last night. I don’t think I’ve ever seen THE VOICE coaches be so negative in an episode, but wow, they were not thrilled. Christina, especially, was harsh. (I’d argue unnecessarily so.) Sure, there were several lackluster performances, but eek. Hopefully they’re kinder during the eliminations.

My TiVo decided against recording GOSSIP GIRL or BONES and instead chose to record HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. I was a teeny tiny bit annoyed at first because I should have had the space free for an hour show (yeah, my DVR is 100% full. Are any of you really surprised?), but I’m glad I was able to watch that one first. It wasn’t my favorite episode the series has done (and it certainly wasn’t the funniest), but I loved the ridiculous glimpse at Ted/Robin and Robin/Barney’s relationships in a time period we had glossed over on the show. And oh my gosh, you guys, Ted certainly seems to have his daughter by 2015. Yes, we know that should have been the case thanks to the flashforwards they do, but still. This is progress. And it also seems to confirm that Barney’s wedding will be in the present day when we get there at the end of the season, which means Ted could theoretically meet her in a handful of episodes…

The only bad thing about last night’s HART OF DIXIE? As much as I adore Lady Antebellum’s “Just a Kiss,” knowing that song and hearing it play at the end essentially ruined what was about to happen — it was almost too perfect for the scene. I am so glad that George finally saw part of the truth of Lemon’s relationship with Lavon and it won’t all explode on their wedding day. Elsewhere, Zoe’s reunion with the man she thought was her father was just incredibly raw and painful. I’m very curious to see how (or if) they choose to dive back into that later in the season/series.

And that’s all I finished. Still trying to catch up on SMASH. Will get to GG and BONES on probably Wednesday. But if you think any of those things is worth dropping everything for to watch ASAP, let me know!

No need to drop anything for last night’s Bones.

So very happy that “Hart of Dixie” is back on my tv again!! I thought that the B-plot with Wade and the drinks contest was a nice way to keep him out of the main relationship drama without compromising his relationship with Zoe. (TeamZade4Ever!) It was a smart way to shift focus back on the Levon/Lemon/George/Zoe quadrangle for a bit. The confrontation scenes between Rachel Bilson and Gary Cole were nothing short of brilliant. I really like that show!

As far as HIMYM goes, a lot of stuff has to happen in three years eh? And I still don’t like Quinn…and not because I’m necessarily a Robin/Barney shipper, I just do not like that character!!

    HIMYM:
So anyone else saw that desperate hiding of Barney’s left hand in the 2015 for real scene?
They really didn’t want to give anything away about that story line.
I also liked some of the old stuff we never really heard about before in there and it might not have been the best or the funniest episode ever, but I still liked it.

    Bones:
The only other thing I watched last night since there was no new Castle or any Castle at all.
I didn’t really like last week’s episode which everyone else seemed to have loved. That whole 9 months pregnant and walking through a prison riot thing annoyed me and the baby in a barn thing was so not my fav either.
So I didn’t have very high expectations for last night’s ep. But it was a good one. Not perfect, not one of my favs but one I enjoyed. Bones and Booth are still the same as before only living together and coparenting now. They didn’t change too much and the changes were all improvements so far. Brennan is still a scientist but now she’s a scientist who is crazy in love with her baby daughter.
So to get to the point….I liked that one a lot better than the last on.
