About Last Night…GOSSIP GIRL, THE VOICE, CASTLE and More
April 17, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
A bunch of Monday TV, so let’s talk about what went down last night…
I so absolutely disagree with the singers Blake and Christina chose to send home on THE VOICE. I mean, seriously? I thought each team had a MUCH weaker member. Really, really dislike the idea of an immediate elimination, so hopefully that can be nixed between seasons. Poor Jordis and Jesse deserved better.
As soon as Diana’s arc started in last night’s episode of GOSSIP GIRL, I went, “Oh my God, she’s Chuck’s mother,” but that never crossed my mind until that moment. Was anyone else thrown by that? A) EWWWWW. She slept with his best friend. Repeatedly. B) Wouldn’t think she’d literally be old enough to be his mother, but I keep forgetting these kids are supposed to be college-aged. I’m also really enjoying Serena as Gossip Girl, because it gives her something to do that is finally really separate from boys and love triangles. Speaking of those triangles, I adore Dan and Blair together. Them trying to find the perfect party blend for both of their lifestyles was understandably awkward, but them fighting in bed was what really makes them, them. (Um, and don’t you dare break up Rufus and Lily, GOSSIP GIRL.)
HART OF DIXIE felt season finale-esque, right?! So happy the truth of Lemon and Lavon’s relationship is finally out there and I’m really morbidly curious to see what Lemon has planned to try and get George back. And I know Jesse is Wade’s brother, but can we keep him? I thought he had really fun chemistry with Zoe, and while she doesn’t need another man in her life, he brought enough to the table that I’d like to see what he would do to Wade and Zoe as individuals if he was still around. Oh, and poor George. He’s lost everything. Let’s hope next week goes better for him since he’s now down one fiancee and a friend.
I’m very curious to hear what you guys thought of CASTLE. I certainly didn’t think it was a bad episode, but the Adam Baldwin of it all got a bit distracting to me. He was so much fun, but the Very Special Guest Star feel was there. Was that only me? Either way, I do hope he returns at some point, especially if it meant mixing it up with Beckett, Esposito and Ryan more, because the five of them together could be comic gold.
Behind on SMASH, BONES and HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. Any suggestions on which I should watch first?

Might give Bones a whirl. Decent case, good squint work, little baby talk and nice B&B interaction. Sweets was …well… he was Sweets.
As for Castle… AB was basically playing Jane and playing with Castle. Beckett was in the background doing “right” by Castle. Nice interplay between the Caskett and College story lines.
Gossip Girl was good for me, even if it was predictable. I’ve known Diane was Chuck’s mother since her first phone call to Jack quite a while back, so the twist was very untwisty for me. It’d have been more of a twist if she HADN’T been his mother! LOL And sleeping with your sons best friend? Wrong…on so many levels.
I did laugh at Chucks line at the end though, when she says to him ‘I wanted to watch you from afar.’
‘Nates bed isn’t very far’ made me giggle…even if it took me a moment to check I’d heard him right.
I am intrigued to know what Gossip Girl has on her though. I mean, if Chuck wasn’t the big secret then what is?
And Blair and Dan…I’m kind of bored already. Maybe it’s because I’ve recently been rewatching Season 1 and 2 so I have those relationships in my head, but it doesn’t grip me. It’s all very…blah.
And it’s totally the Blair/Chuck shipper in my, but I was disappointed that we got NO Chuck/Blair scene after his mother was revealed. I understand that they are no longer together, but it’s kind of cold of Blair to cut him out completely. They used to be friends way back when, and she does know him better than anyone. I just thought that was kind of harsh…guess it means she no longer cares completely, which makes me sad.
And Hart of Dixie…I love this show. Seriously. And Jesse…I’m with you Marisa, we HAVE to keep him. 1) He’s smokin’ hot. And 2) The chemistry he has with Zoe is brilliant…plus his prescence had a very interesting effect on Wade and I’d like to see their relationship a bit more.
Lemon…I still couldn’t care less. I was happy that George finally grew a pair though. Also happy that his annoyance with Zoe will mean he stays far away from her…she can do so much better.
Por Levan too…I’m hoping he’ll finally realise he can do better than Lemon and move on. A girl can hope! 🙂
On the Castle front, I adored it. So many Firefly refrences made me a very happy girl…Brown coat FTW! Like you, I do hope they bring him back where he has more to do with the whole crew. Would. Be. Epic.
And YAY Bones. So much awesomeness I can’t even narrow it down. Brilliant from start to finish….minus the info we learnt about Daisy. The crotchles panties thing will haunt me until the day I die… *shudders*
And finally Smash? Better than last week, still not great. I’m not giving up though…at least not yet. It has to get better, right? I mean…so much potential.
Ok…I’m off work ill and on pain meds. I’m blaming that for the atrocious spelling and grammar on my previous comment. And maybe this one too….I can grasp the basics of the English language, honest I can!
P.S. Also re GG…Lily and Rufus will not be messed with. I refuse to belive otherwise.
Poor George…he needs another lady because I still want it to be Lemon & Lavon and Zoe and Wade…of course if Jesse sticks around to distract Zoe for a little while I’d gladly go to Bluebell and distract Wade! 😉
I liked Castle but not as much as I thought I would. It certainly had some nice progression for shippers who managed to focus on Beckett risking her badge for Castle and him possibly seeing that her actions speak louder then her words. And Adam Baldwin is always brilliant. Nice Ryan & Espo moments too…so all and all a solid hour. (And after all, it would be hard to love the actual episode as much as the idea of the episode anyway, wouldn’t it?)
I didn’t think I’d like Castle from the scenes they advertised, (aww, an episode without beckett being castle’s partner, I thought) but I LOVED it.. Loved the dynamic between Slaughter and Castle and Slaughters whole cowboy thing.. taken too far.
I hope Castle writes about Slaughter as a character. I really wish Beckett could figure out this small thing she let slip to a suspect “I was shot and I remembered it all- saying you dont remember it is BS cuz I know” (paraphrasing) and that Richard Castle heard it, but that’s not gonna happen. So many moments where Castle is on the verge of opening up, but whenever we get near there, Castle is usually in a spoiling-it mood. The Richard Castle Spoiling What Becketts trying to Say mood is very rare, in fact so rare we never see him acting this way EXCEPT when it looks like Beckett is about to say something about her feelings!!
I like how severed Castle was from his comfort zone. It was really funny for Castle to realize that he isn’t such a cowboy after all.. He does have boundaries, or he wants to.. etc. He seemed to realize something about himself. And I liked Slaughter saying “when you meet a girl like that you storm the gates or die trying” *Or something like that.
Great episode.
I still have to watch Castle. I was waiting to see what everyone thought of the episode, because I didn’t like the last 2 episodes. Bones was amazing last night though.
Hello. remarkable job. I did not anticipate this. This is a splendid story. Thanks!
