About Last Night…AMERICAN IDOL and DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23
April 26, 2012 by Marisa Roffman
After recovering from my staggering disappoint over SUBURGATORY and MODERN FAMILY not being new last night — not cool, ABC. Not cool at all — I buckled down and watched a few other shows.
This is the AMERICAN IDOL I know and love. While I was quasi-afraid Seacrest might get sick on stage after hearing all those reports about how he nearly wasn’t well enough to host the show, the singers brought it. And the Queen medley didn’t even make me cringe! Though, while Jessica is undoubtedly talented, I have to wonder if her attempting to take on “Bohemian Rhapsody” was a huge mistake. That song is hard to sing!
James Van Der Beek attempting to act like a tween girl? Amazing. The fact that particularly hilarious scene might not have even been the most laugh-inducing part of APARTMENT 23‘s episode? Even better. I legitimately laughed out loud several times. The show has a wonderful balance of making Chloe pretty freakin’ terrible, but at the same time, not one-note or so evil you can’t care about her. She’s like that person you know and adore even though you know they’re the reason you’re going to end up in some truly ridiculous situation. (Though, hopefully, yours won’t include fostering a kid because your friend/roommate needs an assistant.)
I was going to watch REVENGE, but after being underwhelmed last week and seeing nothing positive about it online I decided to watch the Dodgers instead. (Sorry, SVU also got bumped for my boys in blue, too.)

Will you catch up on Revenge or are you going to let it go?
@Kath: I’ll catch up. But given the overwhelming negativity I saw about the ep and the fact that I had no burning desire to view the next ep ASAP, I put it off. Will catch it either tonight or tomorrow.
Glad you haven’t given up on it completely! I thought it was a good episode last night…continues the campy, soapy fun! (With the exception of the whole “artist” thing…that plot point I just do not understand!)
