What show most needs an end date? The Office. Kill it with fire
I really don’t like this category. It seems to me to be mean spirited. It the only category no one wants to win.
@SueK: This category isn’t actually intended to be mean-spirited. Wanting an end date for a show doesn’t necessarily mean you want it to be canceled tomorrow — rather it can just mean you want everyone to know WHENEVER the end is coming, whether that’s one year, two years or seven years from now. I was thrilled when LOST had that option. I think it’s amazing GOSSIP GIRL, FRINGE and 30 ROCK are going into this season knowing this is it so they can end on their own terms. For a show like HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER (to take an example of something nominated on this list), the EPs have been very vocal about WANTING to know when the show will end so they can give the story the arc it deserves. If it was about shows we wanted to get canceled, we’d just use that word. (And I’m guessing a couple of the shows nominated wouldn’t be on the list!)
HIMYM, which I watch sporadically at best. Whenever podcasters talk about the show it’s mostly about how they don’t care about the mother or about Ted. Poor Ted. I really liked when Ted was with Robin, since that was back when I watched regularly. I hear everyone talk about Robin and Barney, but I haven’t seen many shows with them together.
@Marisa… thanks. The light bulb went off. I can see that point and there are several shows that would have had different finales if they knew, going in, it was the last season. Think Angel for one.
