It turns out ABC president Paul Lee had every right to be optimistic about a swift resolution to the MODERN FAMILY contract negotiations — the cast closed their new deals Friday evening. And with the new season set to start production next week, the timing couldn’t be better.
“[I] can’t wait to get back to making this show,” MODERN FAMILY co-creator Steve Levitan told me at ABC’s All-Star cocktail reception Friday evening after the news had broken that the contract issues had been resolved.
And now that the unpleasantness is over, fans can expect some juicy things in the upcoming fourth season.

Comments Off on FX Orders Season 4 of LOUIE, Seven Additional Episodes of BRAND X WITH RUSSELL BRAND
A little bit of news out of the FX executive session at the Television Critics Association — John Landgraf (President and General Manager, FX Networks) announced that LOUIE has been renewed for a fourth season.
Additionally, the network has ordered seven more episodes of BRAND X WITH RUSSELL BRAND, but Landgraf said there would be some significant changes to the series going forward. (There’s a panel for that series later in the day, so we’ll update you then.)
No deal has been made yet on a third season of WILFRED due to ongoing negotiations and the network is also waiting on all 10 episodes of ANGER MANAGEMENT to air before officially picking it up for the back-90 episodes, but if/when that happens, we’ll let you know.

DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23: James Van Der Beek and Nahnatchka Khan on the Potential of Joshua Jackson or Other DAWSON’S CREEK Stars Guesting

Comments Off on DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23: James Van Der Beek and Nahnatchka Khan on the Potential of Joshua Jackson or Other DAWSON’S CREEK Stars Guesting
With Joshua Jackson making it clear he’d be up for a guest spot on DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23, the question became whether the people behind the ABC comedy actually wanted to stage the quasi-reunion.
“He’s so funny, that would be so great [if he came on],” James Van Der Beek (James Van Der Beek) told me Thursday night about possibly reuniting with his former DAWSON’S CREEK costar on his new ABC series. “You know, we’re trying to figure out how this season is going to play out. That’s a [question for the writers]. We would love to have him. We’ll figure the right time, the right place, when he’s available.”
Given Jackson’s history with mocking his past as Pacey (“How funny was that?” Van Der Beek laughed, when I brought up the Funny or Die skit), it wouldn’t be entirely out of the realm of possibility for him to embrace that humor again. And since Van Der Beek already plays a fictionalized version of himself, it means the potential of writing for Jackson (or any other former DAWSON’S CREEK star) is extra juicy for the writers.

Comments Off on ABC President Paul Lee ‘Optimistic’ About MODERN FAMILY Contract Negotiations
With the MODERN FAMILY cast caught up in an increasingly nasty salary dispute, ABC president Paul Lee expressed confidence that the matters would be sorted out in a way that won’t impact the show’s planned September 26th season premiere.
“I expect the season to start on time,” Lee told reporters during his executive session at the Television Critics Association. “As you know, we’re in the middle of negotiations…And we’re hopeful, we’re optimistic that we’ll be able to resolve it.”
And while Lee brushed off specific questions about the negotiations and what kinds of contingency plans the network might have if things fell through, he did keep reiterating how optimistic he was about things working out.
MODERN FAMILY is set to premiere Wednesday, September 26th at 9 PM on ABC.

AWKWARD Recap: My Love is a Black Heart
July 27, 2012 by Sarah Curtis
Hey AWKWARD fans! Sorry I missed the recap last week. Feel free to discuss that episode and Jenna’s church camp woes in the comments if you want to. As for this episode, “My Love is a Black Heart”, the show continues to inch its way through the school year–the premiere featured Christmas and New Year’s Eve, and now we’re up to Valentine’s Day.
Love is in the air, and like always, Jenna is trying to figure out her new relationship with Jake with her old relationship with Matty. To make things worse, Matty seems to be actively interested in the freshman blonde he sniffed his pits to in last week’s episode.
In this episode, Jenna was somewhat self-centered. She wasn’t selfish necessarily, but she assumed that most of what went on was about her. When Matty approached her and wanted advice on the perfect date, Jenna thought Jake had sent him over for some intel. Oh, Jenna. No.
GENERAL HOSPITAL at TCA: Executive Producer Frank Valentini Says He’s ‘Pretty Confident’ About the Soap’s Future

There’s no denying the soap landscape is changing. After all, in the past year, ABC has said goodbye to both ALL MY CHILDREN and ONE LIFE TO LIVE, leaving GENERAL HOSPITAL as the one remaining daytime drama.
But despite the massive shakeup, executive producer Frank Valentini (who previously worked on ONE LIFE TO LIVE) seemed pretty confident when he appeared in front of the Television Critics Association for a GENERAL HOSPITAL panel on Thursday.

With only a few months of FRINGE left, speculation has turned to what the cast will do next.
After Monday’s FRINGE panel at the Television Critic’s Association, Joshua Jackson told reporters he planned to take a little bit of a break for the holidays when filming wrapped, but he didn’t seem surprised when a reporter asked whether he would be open to a possible cameo on ABC’s DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23.
“It comes up a lot now,” Jackson acknowledged of the potential of reuniting with his former DAWSON’S CREEK costar James Van Der Beek on the ABC comedy. (Where Van Der Beek plays a fictionalized version of himself.)
