SMASH to Host a WILL & GRACE Reunion: Sean Hayes Joins the Series for a Multi-Episode Arc

There’s a WILL & GRACE reunion coming to SMASH!

Sean Hayes — best known for his role of Jack McFarland on the NBC sitcom — has signed on to appear in the sophomore season of SMASH for a multi-episode arc, NBC announced in a press release. This news is delightful for several reasons: Hayes is no slouch in the musical department (he was nominated in for a Tony in 2011 as Best Actor in a Musical) and this potentially reunites him with his W&G costar Debra Messing, who is a series regular on SMASH.

According to NBC, Hayes will play “Terrence Falls, a comedic television and film star who is making his Broadway debut in the musical “Liaisons,” based on the novel “Les Liaisons Dangereuses.” Due to a series of comic circumstances, he becomes a major thorn in the side for Ivy Lynn (Megan Hilty) and other characters.” (Here’s hoping that includes putting him in a scene with Messing’s Julia ASAP.)

Of course, Hayes has been fairly busy with NBC recently — not only is he a producer on GRIMM, but he’s also set to guest star in a multi-episode arc on UP ALL NIGHT this year.
